Slice and Gator hang out and do fun stuff
That's how it goes, man. That's how it goes. I'm sorry about that, but that's how it goes, isn't it? Yeah, you can say that again. Yeah, but I mean our lives is is our life is just a podcast, bro. You know what I mean? Feels that way sometimes, doesn't it? Yeah, it sure does. I know what you mean. I mean, we've got to make content, man. I'm just so tired of making content all the time, aren't you?
SPEAKER_01Is our life become a content farm? Uh basically, yeah. I mean, I live and breathe uh the podcast.
SPEAKER_02I know. Well, welcome uh to our listeners. This is number one podcast for people. Or otherwise known as number one podcast for people. For people.
SPEAKER_01My name's Gator. My name is Sliceberg, Slice Hurd. Sliced herd? Yeah, I meant to say that one. Where does that come from? That's uh that's that's Shell Dog's um honey nick nickname of my nickname. Oh yeah, and you're embracing that. Oh, big time, yeah. Uh-huh. Big time. So uh how you doing? How's your pinch nerve?
SPEAKER_02My my uh, you know, it's improving. It's it's it's it's it's quite like I had a good night's sleep last night, which was is helpful. And yesterday I worked in the yard for like two hours. Not hard. I picked up some sticks, I planted a few things, but maybe it was an hour, but it I felt good. Like I was I was feeling back to normal. I went swimming. Okay. That was good. Like I feel like I'm on, like I feel like I'm just like natur. Like, here's the thing. After the first time it happened, I was like, I gotta get better in two weeks, I'm going on a trip. Right. Well, that was a little bit not, that wasn't quite a realistic thing.
SPEAKER_01Right, you know like it didn't matter, you know, your body was gonna heal at its own pace. It's gonna heal regardless of your schedule.
SPEAKER_02My problem thinking like my problem was thinking like I gotta fix this in two weeks. Then two weeks comes ago, three weeks, four weeks, and I realize now it's been six weeks, Slice, that I'm starting to feel better, but now I realize like, oh, in another month, I'll be back to 100%. That's what I'm thinking, right?
SPEAKER_01Going at this rate, yeah.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because it's up and down, up and down. So I'm I've I've got a more realistic timeline now for what's going on with my boss. Right.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's good. I like to hear that. It makes me.
SPEAKER_02But yeah, I'm feeling pretty good. So uh here's the thing. Like, we're we're it's not even it's not even a regular podcast day right now.
SPEAKER_01No, we're uh, how do you say like um like off schedule or something?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I don't know. Like the thing is we might we we gotta we can talk about it like later off mic, but maybe we decide we we could we could release a bonus episode. We could release this as our our weekly episode. We could save it in the in the queue for whenever we feel like releasing it.
SPEAKER_01Like let's say you're out of town and we don't have we could have this one.
SPEAKER_02I don't have any trips planned on though. Okay. Uh no. I got a I got a big uh credit from Delta because I canceled my trip that I was gonna go on to Vermont, yeah. And I want to reschedule because he's still doing um he's still he's still doing the maple syrup. Right. And so and he'll do it for another month. So I want to reschedule what what are we doing?
SPEAKER_01Uh what are we why are we photographing this? I was taking a picture of the garbage truck. But for what like do you why? I don't know, because now on the we're gonna talk about it now, how we're being blocked by the garbage truck.
SPEAKER_02So I'm can't I go around him? I mean, I'm I'm kind of in a little bit. I mean, are these people gonna be mad?
SPEAKER_01I mean it's too late now, you're doing it. All right. Yeah, I guess that was easy enough.
SPEAKER_02Well, I'm in like a sporty utility vehicle right here.
SPEAKER_01The uh Honda element is a 2003 Honda element is designed for that, especially when it's orange.
SPEAKER_02So, um, so I don't know where we're gonna go with this episode, but it doesn't matter because here we're here now, and then when you hear it, you hear it, and we hear it right now, but we don't know what we're gonna do. We're we're on a it's a Monday, isn't it? It is Monday.
SPEAKER_01Although it really it's it's timeless. It's timeless. But technology is a good thing.
SPEAKER_02You could be listening to this on a Monday, you could be listening to this on any day, but for us right now, it's a Monday, but it's still timeless. Right. We um we we got inspired to make a Twinkie Pizza, didn't we?
SPEAKER_01We sure did. By Oklahoma Bro. Oklahoma Bro and Emmy coming in with the uh the uh very, very creative recommendation or suggestion, I should say.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. And so if we're gonna make a Twinkie pizza, the best way to do it, honestly, is to go up when they're closed. Because we're always busy in the morning, they're busy setting up. We're being their way. Right.
SPEAKER_01I mean, you could go in there at the height of the dinner rush on a Friday or Saturday night and try to make it space. Everybody, stop what you're doing. I know we got like, you know, around a two-hour wait and we got people in for their pizza, but stop what you're doing, because I gotta make a twinky pizza right now. I mean, you could do that. You could I could do anything. Because it's like, you know, it's your it's your place. You can do whatever you want. But realistically, we should probably do it when we're closed.
SPEAKER_02There's a there's a really good argument to be made that you could do this at three o'clock on almost any day of the week that uh we're open. Right, that's true. It could be between lunch and dinner, and it's slow enough that we could slide in there and do it. The problem is we're not it it it it everybody gets involved in. You know, everybody's got an opinion, everybody's getting involved, they want to ooh and ah, they want a rubber neck and everything. That's true. And you're not probably I don't even know that I would want to record it, you know. Because if we go in there, two of us, we can kind of we kind of do whatever we want.
SPEAKER_01That's a different vibe. We can spread our wings and take our time, and uh and it's just I mean, two cooks in the kitchen is already too too many cooks in the kitchen. But you know, imagine it was if it was like eight cooks in the kitchen. My what do you have your keys to the restaurant?
SPEAKER_02Because I don't I my keys on left to the restaurant. And and I didn't know if Chris was gonna be there. I'm just asking. Yeah, Chris, I feel like Chris usually is probably there at this time of year. So the but the other thing is it's really nice to be in the kitchen when it's empty. I just get more closed. The kitchen is just like a wonderful place.
SPEAKER_01I'm gonna have the kitchen to myself tomorrow morning from 6 a.m. to 6 45 a.m.
SPEAKER_02And I'm very much looking forward to it. I love that part of the day. I love it when the kitchen is empty. I love to go in there. I like on on Thanksgiving Eve, I'll go in there and stretch some pan pizzas. Yep. I'm all by myself. Anytime you go in there and it's quiet and there's no servers and the phone's not. It's just nice. It's just nice.
SPEAKER_01It's great. I get to experience that uh in the morning. You get you get that, you get that in the mornings for sure. So uh how are you doing? Um I'm doing great. I'm doing uh great. I had a very eventful Easter weekend. Okay. And uh I'm just kind of like, you know, resetting from that. What does that mean? Eventful? Uh well we went down to Orlando for the uh Odyssey of the Mind thing. Odyssey of the Mind. Yeah. And uh that's a long day. Yeah. I mean that was. Well, no, actually uh we no, we didn't. We went the night before. And then I was and then I was there at the convention center at like 6 30 a.m. And like, you know. Who may go? Uh like oh good. And um yeah, so uh right. So that was a very long day, a lot of walking, a lot of excitement, and um then we drove down to my we kept instead of coming back to Hazel. It was Easter the next day, right? Yeah, so we go down to my parents' house. Yeah, we were already like halfway there, and we were gonna go anyway, you know. So yeah, we did it once. Right, so basically we went down, had a uh wonderful Easter with the fam, and uh yeah.
SPEAKER_02But you know, it's a lot of driving and yeah, you you're out of your regular routine for sure. Exactly. And uh did the kids do well? Like, how did it go with the mind ball? I thought you never asked you never asked.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so Betsy's team placed seventh out of uh the 15 teams in her division. So very respectable, very good, seventh in in the state at um at that particular division. It does not. That well it varies. Usually it can be it depends. Sometimes it's top three, sometimes it's only the top one, sometimes the top two. It depends on like how many teams exactly um but however Georgia's team plays second. And yes, they absolutely moved on to the world Odyssey of the Mind Championship, which is in India and which is the next best thing. It's being held in Ames, Iowa. Are you going? You got to. Well, I think Sarah's gonna go. When is that happening? Uh like the it's like next month, the last weekend in and they and they expect you to pay for going. Of course, of course they do.
SPEAKER_02And I mean, if you're going to Iowa, you're gonna fly, you're gonna stay in a hotel, you're gonna rent a car. I mean, what a what an expensive trip.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's quite an expensive trip. But you know what? But how much fun? Yeah, we've got to support these kids, so they did an amazing job. They they earned it, they deserved it. And uh that's great. Yeah, we're going to Iowa. Well, I'm not going, but probably Sarah. You're not going because you're gonna work if you didn't work, yeah. We probably three, it would be a good thing.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's a more expensive, even, but maybe once you have a hotel, it's not.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. It's probably better just to just a uh that's great. I'm still having for her. Yeah, that's uh is is uh is Betsy Bun. You know what? I don't think she could she have a rat's ass. I don't think she cares. Yeah, I think she's kind of almost relieved in a way. Because now she can like check out of it. Yeah. She's gonna she I know we talk about this a lot, but she's in all these, she has a lot of activities, right? So one less activity makes almost no difference. She still has like four other activities she's doing. Yeah. So she's busy. Um and what about Easter? Easter was good. We had a great ham? No. Of course, yeah. Yeah. Honey baked ham. Uh love. Uh Mrs. Isn't that that's like the easiest possible dinner, right?
SPEAKER_02Every year. We always for 25 years we've had Easter at my house, and we didn't do it this year because Caroline's not feeling good. My mom's too old to do it. I mean, honey bake ham you just buy. I could buy some rolls and some ham, but you still have to have everybody over, you have to have the dishes out, it's it's it's it's exhausting in a way. Clean up. It's lower. I mean, I can even say, look, I'll clean up, I'll do all this stuff, but it it she just didn't want the hub up, you know. Yeah, I don't blame her. Yeah. So anyway, we we had a good time though. We went out to dinner, which we'll talk about later. Yeah, yeah, we're gonna get it. Well, I'm glad that you got the full did you have macaroni and cheese?
SPEAKER_01Uh no. We always have that. No mac and cheese. We usually have like a three cheese, mac and cheese. Yeah, rolls and beans. Yeah, I made rolls from scratch. Uh-huh. They came out great. Were they yeast rolls or just rolls? What do you mean yeast rolls?
SPEAKER_02Oh, they have I mean there's little yeast rolls that they they that you get when you go to like Texas Roadhouse or something, and they're like puffy. Yeah, they're puffy. They're soft. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, and then there's regular dinner rolls, which is a little, they're not quite as puffy as yeasty. These are more yeasty, yeah.
SPEAKER_01They're definitely more puffy.
SPEAKER_02You have to you have to make the dough, punch it down, let it rise, punch it down, let it rise again, make the rolls, let them rise, right?
SPEAKER_01That's how I did it, yeah. Yeah. Well, that sounds good. Did you have extra rolls? Uh no, because we didn't we decided to not double the recipe. We only made a single recipe.
SPEAKER_04Yeah.
SPEAKER_01But we would have had a ton of luck over, obviously, if we did, because yeah, those the rolls came out green. Mashed potatoes, it makes the mashed potatoes. Everybody looked at it.
SPEAKER_02I love Old Easter. I love that Thanksgiving.
SPEAKER_01The Easter's like a repeat of Thanksgiving in some ways. Except for the hams that Christmas will have that kind of meal too. Right. I always thought that was uh fat planning. Whoever thought of that, because the thing that what do you have for dinner on Thanksgiving and what you have for dinner on Christmas is pretty much the same thing, right? Yeah, in America. Right, and it's only and it's only one month apart. Like they should have had one in like July and one in December, you know what I mean? Yeah, Jesus should have been born in July.
SPEAKER_02It's bad planner, bad planner. Yeah. Alright, we're we're at Walmart, we gotta get Twinkies.
unknownYeah, we do.
SPEAKER_02We're making a Twinkie pizza, y'all. Um, I will say though, that the um it locked. I got it. The uh another I mean really it's it's the I if it weren't I I want to make a new audio tour. The audio tour you have is fine, it's fine, but hundreds and hundreds of people listen to it, and I'm sure hundreds of people have found our podcast through it.
SPEAKER_04Uh huh.
SPEAKER_02And I just want to update it. I just like updating stuff. I'll probably want to update it again a year from now. Yeah. And it's just fun, like fun. So the only way to do it is on a Sunday or Monday. Yeah. We really can't do an audio tour when we're open. There's too much going on. It's too loud.
SPEAKER_01Right, which is kind of the explanation for why we're doing this.
SPEAKER_02That's why. And it was like, I'm like, I want to do the audio tour again. And while we're up there, let's go ahead and make a Twinkie pizza because we could have just probably put off the Twinkie Pizza. You want a chocolate? I'm not gonna have a chocolate, but thank you. And I'll tell you why. I made a um I made a cake the other day. What was it, Friday? I made a cake. What kind of cake? It's a yellow cake with chocolate frosting. Okay. Super classic. And I've I've I had this recipe that I liked. I made it one time. It was really delicious, but I had a few problems that I made a couple mistakes. So I made it again later. Uh-huh. And it was it was great. It was so delicious. But it kind of I I put I I I put the icing on. It was cake was still too warm, so it slid around a little bit. Right. Right. So I said, well then at least I'm like, I'm gonna make this cake again. I'm gonna nail it this time. So I make the cake. Let it cool off. I made three mistakes on that cake on Friday. No less than three mistakes.
SPEAKER_01I made three mistakes. I love it how at Walmart, the very first aisle you get to, uh-huh, that's where the Twinkies are. They don't like that. You couldn't get any closer.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wouldn't even know where they were. Okay, so we're we're gonna get a Twinkie. So they the Twinkies. Oh, there you go. I don't want banana, no. We want golden. Oh, that's what we want? That's what a Twinkie is. I thought it was chocolate. With frosting. No.
SPEAKER_00Oh, this changes everything for me.
SPEAKER_01I mean, come on, you gotta know what a Twinkie is. I don't eat Twinkies. I don't need Twinkie either, but they have different flavors, but we have a five.
SPEAKER_02This is interesting to me because I made this cake. I was just talking about this cake, but I I I I haven't gotten to the part yet where I made like I messed up the icing and I made too much icing. I have all of this chocolate icing. Oh yeah, we use it for this. And then I was well, it's at home because I was gonna bring it. I said, oh, it's a chocolate Twinkie. We need a cream, like a vanilla frosted.
SPEAKER_01But I feel like chocolate would still go good with the Twinkie, even though it's not chocolate.
SPEAKER_02No, I thought it was a chocolate cake and we were gonna put in the cream. Now we want to put chocolate.
SPEAKER_01We want to put the chocolate one called it's called a oh no, they do have chocolate twinkies. Oh. That's good. Chocolate.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Well, I didn't. Why don't we get both? We'll get one of each. I thought that was like a separate.
SPEAKER_02I thought that they were chocolate. I didn't want to put more chocolate on because I figured we'd get Nutella as well. What's the right Nutella's the base and then the Twinkies? Well, let's put a chocolate and vanilla Twinkies on there. Let's get Nutella. Ding dong. Ding dong.
SPEAKER_01That's that's the chocolate one. There's the ding dong.
SPEAKER_02Uh there they are. The ding dong and the sushi cue. Are there their hostess as well? Yeah.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_02Should we put a ding dong? It's not a ding-dong pizza. It's a Twinkie pizza. All right, we got we got a chocolate and vanilla, so that's good. We're gonna we just all we need is the Nutella. I think we need like a something to put down on the base, you know? So it's not just Twinkie sitting on bread.
SPEAKER_01That actually does sound pretty good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, it'd be fine. Um the same same same place, huh? Maybe not. Maybe it's fine. Well, do they even sell that here?
unknownAll right.
SPEAKER_02Let's go. That's fine. I think that's enough. That's enough.
SPEAKER_01Uh I think that's all we need. This is probably, you know, you know, there's probably a word for that that I don't know where like they just put Walmart puts their label on it, but it's still Nintella, you know what I mean? Like, you know, it's it's made in the same factory, you know what I'm saying?
SPEAKER_02Dude, if I would have been if I would have been better prepared, I would have brought that icing, that chocolate icing, we would have got all vanilla twinkies and put the chocolate icing on. But I didn't I don't know. It'll be fine.
SPEAKER_00I just I just have all this extra icing. Look at this line. What is going on here? This is are you kidding me? I came in the other day and there were 15 lines out here earlier today. They've got like one line open? Yeah, unexpected.
SPEAKER_02Okay, they've got like they must have 40 self pay, right? They're all closed. Like every single one is closed.
SPEAKER_01Uh earlier today. I nine. You came in earlier today? I did, but um, not to get twinkies. They have oh my gosh, so there's there's a long line. There's there's four self checkouts open and a line of like 40 people.
SPEAKER_02Okay, I had to come, I think it was yesterday. I came yesterday. Uh-huh. And maybe we could buy it at the customer service. That's not any better. No. I came yesterday and they had all these lines open. You didn't there's no way. Oh, what is up? He's up. Let's go get in this line, I guess. What are we gonna do? Hey, buddy. She's talking to you. Oh. Okay. When he gets over here, I'll get behind him. You're trying to let people get through. Um this is what did I come here for? This is such a buzz kill. I don't know. I had to get milk or something.
SPEAKER_00You came here earlier today? No, it was it was yesterday, but the all the lines were open.
SPEAKER_03Um, come here.
SPEAKER_02We'll I'll let him go when the kids over here. So here's the thing. Let's just tell our story and don't worry about it. So um, so I made the cake on Friday, and I here's the problems that I had. Um number one, I realized later, after it was in the oven, that I had not put in the baking powder. Okay. Because I saw it on the table and I'm like, I don't remember putting in the baking powder. I didn't put in the baking powder. So that's gonna, it's very dense, right? Uh-huh. Uh number two.
SPEAKER_01I um we already mentioned that it was too hot when you put the well that was the with the one before that. Okay. Yeah. Number two. So maybe you did only make one mistake. No, I'm not going to be able to do that. They can't be that fatal if you carry it.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, the cake came out and I was like very unhappy with it. I was like, I'm not we I had a slice. It was like, okay, but it you know, there's no bacon powder, so it was dense. Right.
SPEAKER_01You know, yeah, it didn't get it.
SPEAKER_00Oh, oh, it was I was supposed to put five eggs. Okay.
SPEAKER_02Three eggs and three eggs and two yolks. So when it said add the eggs one at a time, I did. One, two, three. I didn't have the oak sitting there. Uh-huh. And then, but I thought maybe they came in later or something. So you didn't do enough eggs. So it was so it was light on the egg, like so it didn't have the eggs, right? Which gives it a little more richness.
SPEAKER_04Hey.
SPEAKER_01She was telling the loud guy, uh she was on her phone not paying attention. We need we need the line is so long, we gotta pay attention. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Well, he's next, and then we'll go. It won't, it so then whatever the other problem was, it just I was just mad, right? So I was like, and my friend, and Kate has got her Kate's got her uh Kate. Caroline's got a friend in town from California that she knows. Uh huh. That uh uh her uh um college roommate, right? So I didn't want it, I didn't I didn't want to be having this. This cake just wasn't that great. So I was like, I'm making it again. So that's why I had to come, I had to come get stuff for that cake. I had to come get some more flour, I had to come get some more milk, butter. Uh-huh. Um so I made it again on Saturday. Uh huh. I did make a mistake on Saturday. It was the last, it was the last thing. So I make the cake, turns out beautifully. Put it in the oven, it turns out beautifully. Making the icing turns out beautifully. I'm on the last step of the icing. It says add the quarter cup of milk and mix it in, right? That's it. Quarter cup of milk.
SPEAKER_03Right.
SPEAKER_02I go to the ingredients page just to check and make just kind of look at everything. Double check. And it says half cup milk divided, right? Okay. But somehow my mind hits that half cup milk, and I go over there and I pour a half cup milk.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that's happened to me before.
SPEAKER_02Now my icing is already like not kind of, it's it's already kind of a really loose icing. Yeah. And then you put that, and now you now your icing's like way loose. Wet. Way loose. Yeah, way too loose. I was so mad. Hey, is it oh she didn't want that stuff, I guess. Stuff. Walmart, baby. I had that same problem. You gotta grab that little tab. Just right here. Yeah. That first one. Um, let me get my wallet out.
SPEAKER_00Come on, I got I don't have my wallet.
SPEAKER_02Okay, good. I don't have my wallet, and they don't take my phone on here. I'm gonna pay you back. Guess what? Because guess what? These Twinkies, these Twinkies are on me. I got this. Um so I'm sticking. I'm so mad. Carolina Brian are sitting there and they're like, well, just double the icing. I'm like, are you kidding me? You have to make like a ganache, you have to like melt butter and put it into with with cocoa. Like, I'm not doing that shit. It's like a pound, a pound of powdered sugar, right? That you're adding. And then you have to, you're supposed to have a stick of uh half a stick of uh softened butter. I had softened it the night before and used it already. How am I what am I doing? Put it in the microwave and melt it? That was the third problem I made with the one before. I had melted the butter and it made the icing too warm and too liquid, right? So this icing was perfect except Add too much milk. So I just started adding more sugar and more I just added more stuff to it. Right. I did add a little more of the ganache. I did add a little more melted butter with I I didn't I didn't completely double up the recipe. Uh-huh. But I it's icing, you know? It just made it work. It's so delicious. It sounds amazing. It's so good. And so now I've got it nailed. I know I know I've made it four times. I know how to make this yellow cake and chocolate icing. I think I could do it now.
SPEAKER_01Right. Next time you're going to divide the milk. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, I have a ha basically have a whole cake's worth of icing left. Right. And so right before I left the house, I was like, what am I going to do with this icing? And then there were four bananas sitting there, old bananas. So I made a butt cake with banana bread and I swirled some icing into it. And then I iced the banana bread butt cake. And I still have a whole cake's worth of icing. I still wasn't using all my icing. But I didn't think to bring it because I really thought in my mind, like I didn't even know what a Twinkie is. I mean, I was thinking a Twinkie was a Swiss roll, right? And then I thought a Twinkie was a Swiss roll.
SPEAKER_01Right. That's that's that's more. That's more than a dick, because that's the same shape as a Twinkie, the Swiss roll.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, okay.
SPEAKER_02So I thought a Twinkie was a Swiss roll. And then when you said a Twinkie, I'm like chocolate with cream in the middle, right? Right. So that's why I was thinking, oh, I brought the I brought a little mixer so I could make up a little icing, creamy icing to put on top when it comes out. Yeah. To make it a little more creamy. Yeah. But obviously the chocolate would have been good, but it's alright. We don't have the chocolate. Next time.
SPEAKER_01We got Nutella. We're good.
SPEAKER_02We got Nutella. And we got chocolate Twinkies.
SPEAKER_01Which I didn't even know there was such a thing.
SPEAKER_02There's a banana Twinkie.
SPEAKER_01Honestly, that's the grossest thing I've ever heard of. Like a banana flavor Twinkie. That's the grossest. You can't pay me a million dollars to eat a banana Twinkie. That sounds so gross. I like bananas. I'd take a million dollars. I like bananas, but I really object to like artificial banana flavors. Okay. Like to me, that's like I don't know. It's just wrong.
SPEAKER_02It's just wrong. Like I ban flavor. Yeah. So the I heard this um, I heard this uh Planet Money podcast yesterday about Reese's. Have you heard of anything about Reese's lately? Like the iconic candy brand Reese's pieces? Yeah. No, I have not peanut butter cups? Yeah. So this guy is grandfather, he's a his name is Reese. Uh-huh. And his grandfather was like the Reese's guy. Right. He started it. Yeah. But the Reese's got sold to Hershey's. So he has no control over that anymore, except he probably has a lot of money, I bet. Just being in the Reese's. Right. You know. Family. But um, he's mad because he eats all the Reese's. He loves the Reese's. Every new Reese's, he eats them, he tries them, he loves them. He's just crazy about Reese's. Reese's peace. He goes to eat some Reese's and he spits them out. They taste terrible. No. And it turns out that because of the chocolate has gotten so expensive that they've changed the recipe on a lot of the Reese's products and they're not even putting milk chocolate in it. And they're not using peanut butter anymore. Interesting. And so you have to have 90%, no, you have to have 90% peanuts to make it peanut butter. Okay. And you have to have 10% chocolate to call it milk chocolate. This is by law. Yeah. This is the FDA, Food Instruct Administration, right? And the candy brand said, hey, let us get by with less of that chocolate and call it chocolate. And they're like, nope. And so they so what has happened with some of their products is they've started to it's you know just like instead of cocoa butter, it's vegetable oil. And the chocolate has decreased in the peanut, so they don't call it, so you can't, so they can't they gotta label it differently. Okay. So some of their products are um labeled chocolate candy and peanut butter cream. Interesting. If you see chocolate candy and peanut butter cream, then you know that you've got one of those.
SPEAKER_01Right. So I I look down and I see uh a 10-pack of the snack size Reese's fast break. Have you ever had a Reese's fast break? I ate a Reese's fast break the day before yesterday. Oh, why? Because I was hungry and I had the munchies and it looked amazing. Have you ever had a station? I must have had at least one board.
SPEAKER_02Dude, the fast breaks I'd say sort of a new thing.
SPEAKER_01It's so good. So good. But but I immediately looked for what you were just talking about. And it says it right there: chocolate candy, peanut butter, and nougat. So that oh don't hit the curb. So it might be on the ingredients. Used that peanut butter cream, and what was the other one? Chocolate, chocolate candy. Chocolate candy. Yeah. Not chocolate. Chocolate. So let's put this in there.
SPEAKER_02So the fast break is one of their newer ones, right? I had it at a garage gas station one time. I get the fast break. And I was like, this is my new favorite peanut butter. It's the best. Like I like a Reese's peanut butter cup, I like a Snickers bar. The the the Fastbreak is my favorite. Nougat, it's like everything all together. It's the it's the best. So when I was at Walmart yesterday getting the things I need for my second cake, right? Um, or my fourth cake of that cake, but it was the second time I made it in two days. Um I I saw those and I grabbed them. I didn't I hadn't heard the podcast yet about reasons. I just grabbed them because I'm like, oh, they got fast breaking minis. Almost a fast break mini's gonna be a great snack to keep around the house.
SPEAKER_00Great, yeah. Got me a little fast break. That's right. Then I go home and I I'm listening to the podcast and I go grab my package and I'm like, fucking hey, these these are the these are the cheater ones.
SPEAKER_02Chocolate candy. So I open one and eat it, and I'm like, yeah, it's not as good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, you know, I'm reading the ingredients. It does not say chocolate. No, no, no, chocolate, right? It says peanut butter. No, no, it says sugar, peanuts. It's vegetables mix or something. Yep. Well, corn syrup now. Corn syrup. Then vegetable oil. Yeah. Um contains two percent less of chocolate. So it's in it's they're saying it's two percent or less chocolate. So it's probably like less than one percent chocolate.
SPEAKER_02Well, and that's probably the whole candy bar, not the I don't know. Whatever it is, I ate one and like I the question is is it because I know better or is it because it tastes different? Which is right, array, right, right. Basically Reese's is gonna do this because it's gonna save them money, and there's a probably a certain percentage, probably in the in the high 90s, of that like because the kids are eating these candies, I eat them and they just it's just sweet. Yeah, you know, yeah, they are very good though. And I thought, so anyway, the reason they're here. So I thought maybe I and when I ate one, I was like, uh, I don't, I'm not gonna eat this. I don't want to eat this crap.
SPEAKER_01You put them on the pizza.
SPEAKER_02I was like, maybe put this on the pizza.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_02Oh, I didn't know if you we would be allowed on Twinkie Pizza Putarese's fast break.
SPEAKER_01No, you're uh that's probably the best idea you've ever had.
SPEAKER_02Great, love that.
SPEAKER_01I also brought some macarons.
SPEAKER_02Really?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but we're about to make a dessert pizza, you know.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, that that I brought the cake that was the three mistake cake up here, and they were just nobody it's like it was like I was feeding them chocolate candy. They didn't know, they were like, This tastes great. Yeah, but it was but let me tell you, when you get the real deal, when it's all fluffed out and warm and oh, it's so good. This is something like cake, man. I love cake. I love cake. Hey Chris, in order to get this on subscribe and save, you are you got your headphones on? In order to get this on subscribe and save, I had to order one.
SPEAKER_03Sure.
SPEAKER_02And then so I got one extra, but now I can add however many I want at two months. So anyway, I got an extra one there. We're gonna make a pizza in a minute. Okay, here for a second. Uh let's just let's just sit on a table real quick. So uh it smells funky in here, doesn't it?
unknownI don't smell bad.
SPEAKER_02I mean, it's not bad, it doesn't smell bad, it's just like the air's not moving, like the air conditioner's off. It's a little, it's a little like still stagnant. Yeah, stagnant, exactly. It's a little stagnant. Let's use one of these Twinkie boxes real quick. Yeah, it's kind of the perfect mic stand, actually.
SPEAKER_01Perfect level.
SPEAKER_02So uh yeah, they ate the cake up here. We're eating the cake at home. It's it uh there was only a tiny, it's a six-inch cake, so it's small. What I did was when I when I dumped the first one out, there were four mistakes in that first cake. No, it wasn't the second cake I had, the second cake was good, but I have one other mistake, and that was when I buttered the dip the cake pans, but I forgot to flour them. And then when I dumped them out, they got a little stuck, right? Yeah, yeah. Well, this time I buttered them, I floured them, I went to get one out. I don't know if it was too moist or it needed to cook more, or I let it cool, but it didn't all the way come out. A little bit was left. And you can scoop it out and kind of put it back on, but it I've done that before. It didn't, it it what I did instead was just make a little one-layer cake for us to eat right then. Yeah, and then the other two layers cooled a little more, and I made a two-layer cake. Okay. And I was like, this is my new thing, man. Whenever I make this three-layer cake, I'll make one layer that's just for me, and then the other two's for somebody else, right? So I made that cake. There's only a little bit left. I left it for the girls because they said save us some cake. They left the house. While they're gone, I made banana bread with the chocolate icing in it, and then I iced the banana bread. So there's even more stuff when they get home. And I'm making a pizza now with Twinkies on it. So when you offer me those chocolates, I'm just like, I had cake already. I'm I I actually had banana bread, chocolate banana bread. Well, you had to try it and make sure that's a good one. And I'm about to have a Twinkie pizza. So you know my diet's great right now. Um let's let's uh uh what are we gonna do? Huh? Uh see here's the thing. We have to right, but I think we should do the audio tour, let the oven get a little hotter. Okay. Did the uh audio tour. Did you just turn the oven on it? No, I had it turned on an hour ago. It's it's almost ready. But if we do the audio tour, then I'm just trying what I'm trying to figure out is the audio, right? Yeah. Because I can't pause. Oh, I guess no, I can't. If I pause, then I can only ro start back. Unless you edit it together. I don't even know how to do that. Here's what we're gonna do. I'm gonna stop. This is gonna be a podcast. There's gonna be a whole episode. Whenever it goes out, it goes out. But when it does go, then we're gonna go do our audio tour. Now that episode will go out because it's gonna have it's gonna have to go out to be linked. It's gonna be an audio tour. And people aren't even gonna know, they're not gonna hear this first, probably. No, so they're gonna be like, what's going on with the auditory? Hey, whatever. Yeah, just like that's the way it goes. And then at some point, then after the auditor, we'll we will do another recording as we make or you know, during the making of the Twinkie Pie. Right. That's like a separate episode.
SPEAKER_01And then and those will come out together one after another, part A, part B. Right, right. Yeah, as a even though they're separate episodes, they're kind of be released in conjunction. I understand.
SPEAKER_02So in this first episode, let's just do the mail real quick. We can we can meet Thursday, we can do another podcast. But even though we're in the thing is I want to talk about sports talk, but the game, the game, the big um game is tonight. There's a game tonight. That's not very timeless. So we it's not very time. So but the gayers did lose. So we're not gonna talk about that because we already talked about that. Did we? Yeah. Oh, that's right. We already talked about that. So now we could talk about the big game, which is tonight. Right.
SPEAKER_01I believe it's uh Michigan against Yukon. Yukon.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'm gonna watch it. And so I think that um who knows what's gonna happen Thursday. We'll just see how it goes. I mean, you know, I'm actually getting, man, I'm I'm a little overloaded podcast. I'll tell you why. I'll tell you why in a minute. But first of all, what are we looking at any mail? Do we have any mail? I'm looking right mail. Because we just did the podcast company. Right. We probably don't even have any mail yet. And it might be a little buzz sprout mail. Don't even look at the butt mail. Actually, yeah, just buzz sprout mail. Okay. So the thing is what's been happening with the podcast is the podcast overload is because we're we're doing a lot of hours, and we're also got this other podcast we do now called Season 7 Never Dies by Badcock Family Union. So because which is fine, I love it. But because our but instead of paying overages, I was like, well, let me just upgrade our plan to the next. Stop worrying about it, because we're playing overages. So you might pay, you know, a few bucks for an overage, and it's a few bucks just to go to the next plan or whatever. So I don't know. I was just like, Yeah, you gotta figure that out. So I went on there, and what it was was I don't, I I think every time they show me different plans, and they they I don't know how they but it like seems like a totally different plan than I saw last time. They're probably changing their plans all the time. Oh but the plan that was there was the next plan up, we have we have uh we have six hours a month.
SPEAKER_01Okay. That's not enough. That's what we have now, yeah. Okay, so we pay extra, yeah, right? Because we go over.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, six hours a month is fine.
SPEAKER_01That's like one episode. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02The next plan was 15 hours a month.
SPEAKER_01Okay.
SPEAKER_02And you can get up to five podcasts. Okay. Right? Well, so I started four more podcasts. I was just gonna say we need four more, yeah. No, so I got that plan, and then I said, Oh shit, I got this other podcast, my old podcast from 10 years ago called Satchcast. I I had put that on a different plan and it was called an archive, right? And the archive was you don't you can't add any new ones, but at least it'll be here for five bucks a month or whatever. Right, I remember that, yeah. And I and I had done that because I it had it had been lost in SoundCloud for years and years, and the only way to get it back was to pay SoundCloud money. And but then I I was trying to I wanted to move it over to Buzz Sprout so they're at the same place, so I moved it over and they said, We'll just you don't have to pay a full price here, you could just pay this, you know, archive archive, yeah, just archive, it's just there, you know, for the storage. Yeah, and so I did that, and then this one was like allows you this plan, allows me not only more time, but it allows me more podcasts. Okay, so I was like, Well, let me just do that one. Yeah, so I I wrote to them, I said, Hey, I want to move my podcast from this archival plan over to this plan, thinking if I got my old podcast on this plan, I could just make an episode again if I wanted to, right? Bring it back.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, why not?
SPEAKER_02So he said, Okay, go do this, this, and this. And then hit combine, do this, this, this. So I go do all that and I go look, and then all my podcasts aren't there. I said, Where are they? So I went round and round with people. They don't have phone help at Buzz Browse. Famously. They don't even have chat help. You know what they have? What? Email. Email help. It's fine. They're good at emailing. It's just like it takes something that should take five minutes, can take you know, three days.
SPEAKER_03Yeah.
SPEAKER_02So I went back and round and round, went back and round around. What happened was when they set me up to get my all my podcasts moved over to Bud Sprout from SoundCloud, it was like, I think it was like a free trial for three months, and then it's five dollars a month or whatever. Well, I just thought that was all set up. I never paid attention to it again. Well, what happened was I never got it onto the auto pay, five dollar auto pay.
SPEAKER_03Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02So they th three three months goes by and they just delete all of those podcasts. Now with SoundCloud, I'm not paying them. They don't delete them, they just hide them. Yeah. Right? They might show you three or four and then they hide them. But with Best Prop, sorry, gone. Gone, yeah. Gone. You can't pay that a lot. Like, why don't you just have a paywall? Say, well, give me a hundred bucks or give them back, or whatever. So I didn't realize that happened. So when I went back onto the number one podcast for people email, sure enough, in January, hey, hey, just so you know, we're about to delete 70, 80, 80 podcasts over here. Yeah, but we're not reading those emails all the time. Bud Sprouts, like we get a ton of. Yeah, yeah. So and then I'm like, what do I do? They're like, you gotta. I'm like, and it turns out because I had turned back on SoundCloud for a year or whatever it was to get them, they're still sitting there. Okay. And I'm like, oh, well, they're at least they're still there. Because if I'm gonna have a new, if I'm gonna re-bring the podcast, I want to at least have the old episodes. So there's 82 episodes. That's a lot of episodes. I spent a year on that. So and they have music with them. So I I would it was a long process, been going round and round, right? I had to go over there and then it just went round and round. I had to do stuff on SoundCloud, I had to go back to Buzzsprout, back to SoundCloud, email two more times, and now all my podcasts are currently either in the process or have been uploaded into the new Buzzsprout thing, right? Okay, and then when I pay the one fee, it pays for not only number one and SatchCast and three three more podcasts that we want to start. They haven't even been invented yet. If you know any, yeah, exactly. And 15 hours total. Total right. So when that happened, when this started happening, I was just like, I just started recording myself like as like a personal journal, right? And I and I decided to throw that up on Satchcast as season two, episode one. And then the next day I'm I'm doing it again. And the next day I'm doing it again, right? And so now I'm like, here I'm making a daily journal that's going on to a different podcast feed as season two. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00So I'm like, that's all I do now is podcast. If I'm not talking to you with the podcast, I'm talking to myself with a podcast.
SPEAKER_02I'm actually that's well, and the season two so far, what it turns out, I don't even know, I was like, now I don't know where it's gonna go. Basically, what it's turned out to be is like it looks like it's gonna be a personal journal about my road to recovery. My, you know, just like I'm having this hard time, what's going on, a little personal stories, right? Yeah, and when I'm when I get that tired of that, I'm gonna probably do something different. But I don't know, but I've got this other podcast that's experimental. Season two. Season two, experimental, and uh now one one one place pays for everything.
SPEAKER_00So yeah, I already made I was I was I was making a podcast when I went into Walmart yesterday.
SPEAKER_02And I was like, I'm walking into Walmart. And I was like, you know what my thing was? Hopefully there's nobody who's listened to both podcasts because they're gonna hear the same podcast again.
SPEAKER_00But basically, I thought, you know, I'm like so unproductive these days and like not doing anything. I'm gonna go shopping and make a podcast at the same time.
SPEAKER_01Like I was thinking, like that's extra productive.
SPEAKER_00And I got into Walmart, it was freaking crowded, and I'm like, I can't make up, I don't even know where this stuff is. I'm I don't I gotta find cat food. I don't know what I'm doing.
SPEAKER_02So that didn't really work out. But uh the cat food's in the back. Yeah, I did I do know where the cat food is now, but I didn't know where the beef, the chicken broth was chicken broth? Chicken broth was a big big. Oh, yeah, it's in the soup off. Yeah, yeah, it's in the soup bowl. Uh anyway, I had a uh list. So let's uh let's do a duo and then we'll be done with this episode. All right, well by the recorders in the car. Let's go to your car. And then we'll come back to here, leave this here, yeah. And we'll come back to here, and uh we're gonna do a duo. We're gonna we're gonna do this um new um audio tour, super fun style. And then uh Walmart sessions and the other one couch session. Oh, and then on and on part two, we gotta we gotta make sure we talk about Dunbars too, you know? Oh yeah, yeah. We get into it.
SPEAKER_01I got a lot to say about it.
SPEAKER_02I got some stuff to say, man. I got the stuff to say when we get to our when we get to our our restaurant review section.
SPEAKER_04Right.
SPEAKER_01When we get to our restaurant review section. It's actually a pretty well-rounded podcast. We got sports talks, we got restaurant review.
SPEAKER_02Restaurant review, we do, yeah, and what did you say sports talk? I didn't. And we make we make we bake to get we do bake the baked goods, yeah. We um and we and we and we talk about male friendship. Right, which is that's the overall. We talk about shampoo and conditioner, men's shampoo. Um, did we do some plumbing? Yeah, yeah, some plumbing late plumbing project. Man stuff. Yeah, yeah, it's and then and then and we're gonna and we're gonna and we really what we really need to do is talk serious. We need to talk seriously to the men about how to get how to encourage them their male friendships, right? And not only to the male friendships where you're going and you're going to the titty bar, you're going to get beers or whatever, you're having whiskey, you're playing poker, but actually where you get together and say, like, man, how's your marriage, bro? Like, how's your mental health? Like what what how are you doing? Like, right. Yeah, because like Brianna was saying that you know, Steve has some friends, her husband has Steve, he has some friends, but they don't they never talk about anything. Like they they just they bullshit about work or whatever. And like, and I'm like, well, maybe we I mean we're supposed to be setting the example, but then we're over here just talking about shampoo and bullshit. So I'm like, maybe we need to set the example for men so men can open up. I mean, it just sounds terrible. What's the Oklahoma bro gonna think? No, but it's healthy. I mean, it's healthy to talk. I mean, she like he doesn't even he she said that I don't even know what if he starts listening to my podcast, we're screwed. Because then she's gonna say I don't even want to say it. But anyway, it it it we anyway. I think that um it is good to have friends and to be able to feel like you've got somebody you can talk to. You know, all right. We I think that I think everybody I think I don't think we're gonna do anything to help that.
SPEAKER_01No, no, probably we'll probably make it worse.
SPEAKER_02I think you're right. Okay, so let's do that one number that's real upbeat and um and pleasant. All right, up. Here we go.
