And breezy. Yeah. Well, I tell you what, the birds like it. Uh I live on a little lake, then the lake had almost gone dry, but now the lake's starting to come back. Notice that it's starting to start to come back. Oh, I forgot to turn off my phone.

Um sorry about that. I had forgotten to turn my ringer off, which was a good thing, turned out, because I got an imported phone call from work regarding uh the um uh operation of uh important machines. Some crucial piece of equipment in the kitchen. A pro crucial piece of machinery called a Jackson uh conserver XL dishwasher. And uh I bought that thing in the beginning. You I would I I think uh in the beginning they wanted to rent me one, right?

And uh you rent it for whatever you pay a month, they come out, fix it anytime it needs anything. So that's the benefit of renting it, right? Yeah, right? And I said, no, I'm gonna buy one because you know what? I think I I think it's like all I remember is this it costs $2,000 to buy it. And I remember thinking in two years I could have paid for the you know paid for it. If you rent it for two years, you bought it basically. Yeah, and here we are 23 years later. Right. Oh, it's got a counter on it. I love that.

It's like a mileage marker, it's got a counter that tells you how many loads it's I totally never saw that. It's gonna look for that. It's on the side, it's it's got a counter. What is it up to like 50 million?

No, it's a lot. No, it's I I don't think we're at a million yet, but I think it goes up to a million. That's cool. You know, it's like a million, like McDonald's, right?

But they don't have a counter. No. Anyway, the Jackson dishwasher had we've lost the motor to it before, which makes it work. And if you know, when you got a restaurant, you need that dishwasher to keep you. If you have to hand wash everything, oh yeah, forget it. You can do it, forget it. But it you need to add two more people to the station just to help work it out. Sure. Like it's it's not easy. So I've had to change, I did that myself, change the motor, uh, bought a backup motor. When I did that, I bought a backup motor. I mean, I fixed the old motor when I took it out. It turns out a penny in it. We fixed the old motor. Then we had to switch them out one time. The motor had a problem again. We had to take the other motor. I have to keep it on on it. On hand, team or done it, team style. And then uh it's leaked, and I had to put a little JB weld on the side, and uh right now the plunger is not working anyway. You learn a lot because there aren't there's not like a dish machine repair guy. No. You kind of have to you have to have somebody who's like a smart handyman. Right. It's a kind of a specialty. Restaurant porter type person. Yeah. You know, I've learned a lot about it myself.

I look back and it was like every every podcast we ever made had six that week. Yeah. So it doesn't so you're saying you think that there's like six new people that have all decided to one person listened to six times. Like it was just weird that something scraped, something was scraping through there, you know, to like for feeding for information, trolling for me. And when they did that, it it it triggered that it was listens when it was actually just AI. Right. But I feel like if AI listens, that counts. Sure.

Yeah, but we're not the number one podcast for computers. No. No. So I don't, I mean, it doesn't really count, honestly. Yeah, you're probably you're right. I want it to count, but it doesn't count. Probably doesn't count. Doesn't count. So, but we have a uh podcast, me and this guy, and uh my I have one name and he has a different name. We're not gonna say, but we do have a name. We have names and we do talking, we do weekly talking. We do talking.

We do talking. Uh my friend here in the blue shirt uh with gators says gators on it, but it's actually a satchel design gator shirt. That's really pretty cool. It's like a dual-purpose shirt. You know, I never liked that design, and now the longer I see it, the like the the more vintage it gets, the more I like it. You know, like I'm like, all right, I'd do that again. I kind of I might make it a little bit more.

I love this shirt. I remember I saw uh uh you put an Instagram post when you came out with these shirts, and I remember thinking, oh yeah, like I gotta get that shirt. I love that shirt.

Yeah, yeah, that's pretty simple. Yeah, so we're um we we do we talk about stuff. We do we do talking. And uh today we're we're doing some talking. Um and I did silence my phone. So if somebody's calling me about problems, right, they're gonna have to find another person to call. Better start washing those that silverware by hand. Yep. Yep. One fork at a time. This little plunger that has to fall and seal the you know, the water fills up, the plunger holds the water in, and the plunger comes up automatically and the water drains out, and the plunger drops back down. Yeah. So when you're washing dishes, it actually washes the dishes in this water, and then at some point, boom, the plunger comes up, all that dirty water washes out, right? And then the drain it and then the plunger falls, and then the clean water comes in and rinses everything. Sure. Right? Well, what's happening once in a while is when it's doing that cycle, the plunger comes up, it starts draining that water, it clicks like it's supposed to drop down, but it doesn't drop down. And so the water drains out, just keeps you're not getting any rinse cycle, and then you were um and and and then you have to stop and fill up the dish the machine again and wash them again, right? Okay. So, but they've been doing that so much by refilling the machine, it takes a minute. Like you hold this button down and it fills the water up in the machine. And when the water gets high enough, you let go. They've been doing that so much that now the button's going out. So the button's breaking, right? Because you usually fill it up in the morning and you're done. It does the rest of the thing all day long. But when it drains out, you have to drop the you have to fill it. So anyway, I said if you can fix that plunger, then we're not we're gonna be way better off than if the the button goes out to fill the machine. Yes, because you're completely still now. But the but the but the plunger issue is causing the button to get worse. Because I ordered a button today, it's gonna take till Tuesday to get here. Right. We couldn't just we might just need to fill the machine Friday, Saturday, and Monday or and Tuesday one time. And then we can probably get away with the working. Sure, yeah. But uh so that's what we're hoping to do. So then he found out that when it lifted up and it didn't go down, if he just touched it, it would drop down. It would it was like it's getting stuck, right? It's getting stuck, but it's like all it doesn't take much pressure at all. Right so now he zip tied brake pads to it that he got from basically from your wife repurposing person in her own right. Um and he he zip tied brake pads to the plunger and he said that was working, but he didn't want to use the brake pads. Right. I mean, you know this because you heard the whole conversation. I was sitting right here, yeah. You were sitting right here while I had that conversation, but I felt like I should share that because I think that's like what we call insider, like insider information behind the curtains of a restaurant world. Yeah, yeah. Like what does a restaurateur do? What is what is right.

What is the what is the uh the daily, what is it like the daily life of a restaurateur while you're dealing with you're zip tying brake pads to your plunge dishwasher plunger.

We had uh the w hot water was leaking at the sink. Did you were you you were there for that, right? Yeah, yeah.

Remember I was that was uh oh no, that was today. That was the so the one I'm thinking of was the leak from the day before. There was a couple of leaks.

Oh that leak from the day before. And you know what about that leak from the day before that you found where they they guy came to repair that? Yeah, he was standing out there and he looked over the fence, yeah, and there's like all these filters that the water goes into the soda machine and the ice machine and the and the and all that. Right. And there was a a bust, something was busted up there and it was pouring out water. Okay. Just pouring out. He said it was going to that window between the plywood and the window. Right. And so there's plywood over a window that was just pouring in. And I'm like, I'm glad you saw that. So I could have a lot of water damage inside the wall back there. Yeah. I have to investigate that. Yeah, yeah. So that was another leak, but then there was another thing this morning where the hot water was.

I saw uh I saw Marion the plumber over there today. Oh good. Yes, it looks like he was working on that.

Right. So a lot of a lot of times in the restaurant world, you're just organizing, you know, the right people to fix jobs, you know.

Right. It's like putting out fires or whatever.

And uh and our friend Sean, he um had uh surgery for is it surgery? I think so. I mean it was a procedure? He had a procedure. Because he had uh kidney stones? Yeah. And that was yesterday he had that. That's right. So he's out. He's out, he's out for the phone. Which puts the real kink because he's the you know, he's been there like 20 years. Yeah.

So then you got a kink in the system where it's like, what are we gonna like you're there, but you can only pick up so much slack.

Yeah. Well, I'm there, uh yeah, but I have help. It's not like I gotta pick, it's not like I have to do my whole job plus his whole job. You know, I got people helping me. So Yeah, but it's a little bit of a different pace. That is true. And you work from six to three. Yeah, but that's like extreme. Like, uh, you know, you you gotta count on your fingers. Nine hours. But it's okay. You know what? This is my take on that, because typically when Sean is here, I work say a five-hour day. So I'm already working, you know what I mean? It's like it's like my my standard is a five-hour day. So every once in a blue moon, I can, you know, I can work eight hours, nine hours. You know, it's like that's what people normally work.

So it's well, and also you you when you need to get off, somebody works for you, and they somebody else works longer because you're the fastest dough maker around these parts. It's it's karma, right?

Within a three-mile radius at least. It all balances out, right? Because I help they help me out, I help them out, you know.

You know, that's reminds me of something I heard one time. It was this old saying, do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Yeah. Um, which I was thinking about lately because these, like when we go to war, I know we're not political, so but it but is war political?

Well, uh I but uh it's the perfect example, I think, of what you're talking about, right? But do unto others as you would have them do unto you.

That's why I was thinking about it, because I'm like, do I want somebody bombing my place? No, no, of course you don't. I'm not gonna want to bomb their place, of course you don't. And if you do that, guess what? Things turn out better. Yeah, if everybody lived by that, yeah, then they wouldn't be coming poking our our uh part of town, and we won't poke their part of town.

Yeah, we're all just enjoying a breezy, breezy day. Do no harm. It's a can it couldn't be more simple. That's that's that's the words to live by.

Do no harm. Right. I agree with that. What is the the dominating color that we are looking at right now? Uh I would say green. There's so much green happening right now. Yeah, it is quite lush. It is really looking nice. I mean, I see every sort of shade of green from light green to bright green to spring green to now. Are these uh are these azaleas right here? These are azaleas. Oh, yeah, yeah. Love azaleas. Yeah, back when they're in bloom, that looks amazing. Well, that used to be twice as big and it was full of vines. So over the years we started fighting the vines out of it, and then last year I was just like, I just took it way down because it was blocking our view of the lake. Yeah, you gotta you gotta keep it in check. Yeah, and now it actually looks like healthier than usual because it's coming, because once you cut it down and get in there and get all the vines out, it's a really big ring of of zaleas around an oak tree in my backyard here. We're talking about. But anyway, it's a pretty, it's a pretty day. You can probably hear the you think they can hear the wind in the I hope so, because isn't that the trees?

It's such a pleasant um soundscape, you know, the the gentle breeze rush rustling through the the foliage, the palm, the palm fronds, the palm fronds, the the the majestic Spanish moss um languishing in the breeze. It just it's so idyllic. It just really is. We um we're so fortunate to live in such a uh in such a verdant paradise here in north central Florida.

Well, you've got a really good attitude, though. Everybody doesn't always share that kind of attitude in life, you know. Anywhere is anywhere is good if you if you take the right attitude. But that's always been one of your strong suits, is you have a real good attitude. I try.

I was just gonna say it depends on what we're talking about. Like uh I I readily admit that I have an issue with road rage, and I've chalked that up to being born and raised and coming of age in South Florida. Okay, that's people in South Florida drive like assholes. It is it is as well known as as as any well you got to, you gotta be aggressive out there, right? You gotta be so aggressive, and and even though I I you know I have um basically cast off that that part of my existence. I've come up here to North Central Florida. I can't, it's just it's just it's programmed in my DNA.

Exactly, exactly. So I can't I I have an issue with road rage. I'm trying to work on it. I find it difficult sometimes, but I'm trying I I recognize that's the first step, right? I recognize I have a problem. I know they can hear that.

It's blowing hard now. It's about to blow this mic stand over. Um yeah, well, you know, everybody's got something. I mean, if nobody's perfect, right? Nobody's perfect, and we we wouldn't want them to be. No, of course not. We we like we like uh that we love you, we love your little road rage events that you have. Um well, so let's talk about your your kids. You today, you didn't you didn't have to take your kids. No, Sarah. You said so. I said to you this morning, what are we gonna do? I had this idea. Let me just tell you my idea. Your idea. Well, go ahead. I because I texted you a little bit about basically I've got a load in the back of my pickup truck of rubble. Okay. And it's rubble from the the property over there that got collected up and got piled in the corner, and I kept avoiding it because I didn't want to deal with it. There was one little corner. I didn't even look at it because I knew if I looked at it, it would become real. It's just out of sight, out of mind. And I finally got to the point in that property where I looked at it and I was like, I've got to get rid of this. So I get it, and then I realized, oh, at my daughter's house, there's a pile of rubble in her yard where there used to be a fire pit.

I moved it because I sodded her whole yard last year. It took me very, very much time, money, effort, sweat. It was a lot of work. Right. And I think we talked, we covered this on the podcast if I remember correctly. Yeah. The sodding? Yeah. Well, it all died. Oh no. All that sod totally died. That the entire yard has just a couple sprigs of weeds in it. Because what happened was it had to be watered regularly, and I was on the watering, I had a timer, but then the the yard guy came, they moved the sprinklers. I didn't know, and then they were off for a while. I tried to, then I didn't set them back up. I mean, anyway, it was my fault because I didn't realize when you go to all that trouble, you really have to like if I lived there, it would have been fine. I would have seen it what was happening. Right. But because it was a rental and it was a backyard of a rental, I just out of mind. So anyway, I so then I was like, well, now she's moving, and we're either gonna rent the house or sell the house. So I'm like, let me go get I don't not gonna put another fire pit in there. I don't want anybody having a little bit of a little bit of a little bit. But you just want to clean up the rubble. But there's a lot of rubble because I had taken the rubble, the rubble's from that house over there, and I used it to make a fire pit. I had to move it so it's big rubble. So I'm like, so I go get that rubble. Then I'm like, oh, I know I don't want to take this rubble in and and dump it. It's not it's not fun. I know what I'll do. I'll call Sliceberg. I'll call Sliceberg over there, and then I'll say, here's the deal if you go with me to the dump and dump this rubble, I'll take you to um Gumbies and buy you beer and chicken wings. That's all you had to say. I am right sign me up. Sign me up for some chicken wings at Gumbies.

Yeah, we could do it. But because my the rubble, I haven't moved it yet. It's still getting over there. And I'm like, I'm supposed to go today, but I'm like. So now you gotta take that, uh, you're gonna take that to the C and D land for the? No, I actually was in the beginning. I thought I would, and then I realized, oh, that can go to Florence. You take it to Florence, it's right here. But there's two chairs, and I think that they'll probably let me throw the chairs over there. I think they let you throw everything. Well, they land, so they don't care. They want it to be.

Yeah, but uh I gotta tell you the truth, man. I really was thinking I'd be nice to use that rubble to make like a little rubble wall around a plant or something, like a little planner. But and so I'm really that's kind of the reason it's still there because I keep looking at it like, should I where would I put this rubble wall? Would it look good? I've never made a rubble wall, but you know what I'm talking about when I say a rubble wall.

Like some kind of like earthen uh I mean, like it's rocks, it's all it's all concrete pieces. Right, so you're gonna mount it.

So you put the biggest concrete on the bottom and then you pour some cement and you put the next one. You pour cement, and you pour little ones, and then you fit in little rocks. That sounds like a lot of work, but it'll look good. It's a big pile of rubble. So it can, but and then I'm like, how big can I make the I guess you start with one, two, three rows, and then you just go up as I don't know. Go up as high as you. You know, do you do I go around a tree? Do I is it gonna make is it gonna look junky? So anyway, you said I'll be done around one, and I thought, oh, well, and you've got to take your kids to somewhere, right? And then I thought, we'll do that. And then I thought, you know, problem is like your kids don't want us in the car, like doing the podcast while we're driving them around.

As a matter of fact, remember when we picked them up that day? Yeah. They were like, Dad, don't ever do that again. Don't ever come to pick us up doing the podcast. They were very clear about that.

Yeah, and I've and I and but they didn't even have to tell me because I realized like listen, we're not gonna make a habit out of taking these kids around and doing podcasts. They don't, they we're they're being recorded, they're embarrassed about it. Right. We look like idiots. Well, I don't know about that, but yeah. So anyway, um, I just said let's just do something else. So anyway, you you but then you work till three, so somebody else must have taken the kid.

Yeah, Sarah did um the kid thing. Yeah, she took them. Yeah, she can stop in the middle of the day, she can do whatever she wants. That well, that's the beauty of being the executive director of your nonprofit. You can kind of do what you do whatever you want.

All right, so let's talk about uh let's do uh the sports talk. Gotta do some sports talk. What tell me about the the the tennis thing?

Oh the tennis the the French Open is just uh it is just um high drama on uh on the court and it's just uh it's wide open. The the nor the normal um giants, you know, like the uh the the number the number one seed is knocked out in in both the men and the women's and it's just wide open. So it's gonna be a new champion, someone who's never won before. Uh you know, it's a bunch of young players that um are finally getting their shot. So that's that's the storyline of the open. And yeah, it's it's coming together. How much longer does it have? Uh the the semifinals are now, starting today, I think, actually. Oh wow. So the finals will be, I think, Saturday. I think the women's final is Saturday and the men's final is Sunday, I think. Do you have a favorite? Not really. I just uh You just like watching. I just like watching, yeah. I don't know. You don't even pick you not somebody you're not drawn to somebody or most of the time I don't. Most of the rarely I just weird slightly Yeah, just I don't I'm not that invested in it, you know.

Are you looking at your phone and looking at the Well yeah, I'll look at my phone, I'll I like do my crossover puzzle and kind of watch it sometimes. But some sometimes I'll focus in and really watch the match, but a lot of times I don't. I just have it on the background.

No, it's actually pretty cool, like especially in the earlier rounds when there's a lot of matches. It starts at because it's in Paris, right? So it's six hours later. So here it starts at like 5 a.m. Uh huh. And it goes till like like the I was watching this match the other night, it went till 12 30 Paris time.

So It was like probably like 7 p.m. here and they were still playing. Um past like past like 12 30. So uh yeah, it's like wow all day, all night. Um yeah, they're not complaining. No, of course not. They're just playing, man. Yeah, they want to be there. Yeah, yeah, it's the the biggest stage for tennis. But what's so what's up with the NBA finals, right? Was game one last night? Yes. Okay, I have no idea. You know who won against OKC in the seventh game, OKC versus the Spurs?

It must have been the Spurs because I believe the Spurs are playing the Knicks in the finals. So the game uh with the last game seven was very exciting because whoever won was going forward. You can't beat a game seven. I was pulling for the Spurs, and Caroline's pulling for OKC, but only half-heartedly, you know. But I'm kind of more heartedly than her because I'm like, I want my team to win. You're like three-quarters hearted. And I'm like, and so the Spurs and the Spurs won, and they look good.

And so she's like, they're gonna get trashed by the Knicks, da-da-da. I said, You talk all you want. I said, I'm pulling for the Spurs.

Let's go, Spurs. So then uh I watched a game last night. I watched the whole game. Spurs look good, man. Spurs look real good. Like, no, you you can't say that they can't win this this because you see them play, yeah. You're like, oh, they got they can get they can win. It's gonna be, it's gonna be it's very evenly matched, these two teams. But they're gonna, they're gonna uh I don't think it's gonna be a 4-0 sweep or anything. No, I think it's gonna be a fight. And the Spurs were ahead most of the night, but in the last two minutes, okay, they were ahead like eight points, but then the last two minutes, like there was just a comeback. Yeah, and once the momentum shifted, Spurs couldn't shoot, yeah, and and uh Knicks couldn't miss. Right. And the la and then they so they won it in the end. But because at some point after two when it got down to like when it it was like they were, it was like it was real close, like it was tied at two minutes, I say, right? Yeah, but as the Spurs started choking and then and the Knicks started hitting, you realized within a minute, you're like, this game's over. Yeah, like it was on then maybe it was only a five or six point spread, but you're like the whole momentum shifted. The momentum says tells the whole story. It's just like this is and then and then and the Spurs were just too desperate to kind of get six points of that. And you know how the end, I don't know if you know, but at the end everything slows way down. It's like everybody gets fouled and they timeout and value, and they gotta make a plan. I I've watched enough basketball to know what you're talking about. It's kind of the not fun time to watch.

But um anyway, I decided that I may, I may or may not watch the rest. I don't know. Like, I saw them play, that was fun. Like, do I need to watch every game, seven games? Probably. I don't know. So we go in there and she gets a slab and she starts rolling it out. I'm telling you, it couldn't have been seven minutes later, and she's finished this bowl inside a bowl. And so it we were calling it a bowling bowl because the idea was she's like, if you're eating cherries, you need a place for the pits. If you're eating chips, you need a place for the salsa. If you're eating strawberries, you want a place for the So it's like a two-chambered bowl. It's a bowling bowl. And she uh made this thing just so easy and so quickly, little bowl inside the bowl, and I was like, I don't know if things, you know, she stuck it together good, if it's gonna blow up in the kiln. Even after she sent that, she continued receiving persistent and bizarre messages that quickly escalated to direct threats of death and severe bodily harm. A deputy reported that one message said, I'm going to break your mind open and feed it to my wolves. And another said, If I catch you with another man, I will put him in the fish fryer. The victim received 14 text messages after she asked the sender to stop contacting her. Did she not block his number? Well, that that's they have not mentioned why she didn't just block him.

So it is in their best interest and the best interest of the shareholders of these companies to sell pharmaceuticals. And obviously you can't sell pharmaceuticals to a healthy individual.

We're gonna pop up and give you pills, we're gonna pop up and give you more sugar and more sweeteners in your food and make you want the food and crave the food more. We're gonna pop up and make you obese. We're gonna pop up and fix your obesity. Right. So it's it's all a it's it's all kind of uh intertwined. It's not as simple as just like I mean, there's medicines which are super wonderful to help you. There's medicines that can help people, whether it be vaccines, keep you from getting sick, okay, whether it be antibiotics, keep you from dying, okay, whether they be abs that like stop your pain. Uh-huh. There's medicines can be helpful. Now they now we can take too many, like, oh, every time you got a tiny any anything happens, you got a little ache, a pain, take a take a Tylenol, take a take a uh ibuprofen, you're taking stuff all the time because they've got you thinking that you need something, which you don't. You don't, you don't really need it. I mean, I don't take that stuff because if I get a headache, I that's my body saying, take it easy. Sure. Like, what I'm gonna take something for the headache and go about my normal business. But the problem is taking it easy.
