Hiking in southern California with Steve and Briana. Bonus content for our plus members.

SPEAKER_00

We're on a hike right now. We're hiking down a mountain. Come on. Come on, donkey. Come on. Yeah, we we can do a bonus episode. We right we're walking. Come on. This we're on a hike and we're going down this mountain. Me and Donkey and Donkey's wife Brianna. But this is dangerous. I have to concentrate. But you can talk and concentrate, can't you? This could be a bonus episode.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think it's I don't think it is.

SPEAKER_00

Why?

SPEAKER_01

Well, I didn't like it.

SPEAKER_00

You aren't prepared mentally? Where's the intro?

SPEAKER_01

There's no intro.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah, we don't we don't do that anymore because remember how I told you it's a good idea.

SPEAKER_01

Episode is where I go. I don't get it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, okay. Yeah. Donkey's like a movie maker, right? So everything he thinks of has to be structured and beginning, pilots, all that stuff. But one's what do you call them? Winners. Winners? What's a wonder?

SPEAKER_01

A winner is uh a shot that's doesn't cut, it's just one record.

SPEAKER_00

Did you see that one or uh I can't I we I can't talk about it actually, it's top secret. There was a winner in that one, in that one show that we saw though.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's no lots of winners, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But we did this is a wonder. Come on, keep walking. You don't when I stopped to hold the microphone to your face, which is a phone, micro phone, yeah, you don't have to stop walking. Well, but this is a wonder what we're doing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I guess. It is.

SPEAKER_00

But we don't have to release release it to the public, you know. This could just be for the for the people for the plus members, the plus members have to fall off.

SPEAKER_01

Now just promise me that if you fall down this mountain, you will keep recording.

SPEAKER_00

Oh yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

So that I hear all of the now that would be worthy. That would be good, that would be worthy of being a bonus.

SPEAKER_00

Bonus episode.

SPEAKER_01

No, not episode, bonus piece, a bonus, just a bonus for people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we call these field recordings. That's what we call these.

SPEAKER_01

Field recordings? Yeah. Aren't you always in the field?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that I mean they're all field recordings, but this is like a special field recording. I bet you can hear the wind too.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna need to get some mastering.

SPEAKER_00

You can hear the wind. Take the wind out. You think? I think so. But if they hear the wind, then they really get to feel like they're climbing down this mountain with us. Yeah. It's pretty steep right here.

SPEAKER_01

Pretty steep.

SPEAKER_00

Like this is the kind of kind of uh hiking that hurts your knees, right? And your ankles.

SPEAKER_01

Well, when you're of an age, yes.

SPEAKER_00

When you're of an age. Yeah. It's pretty, it's pretty out here, oh high country. Yeah. Hot but but breezy. Yeah. Okay, so you think we need a mascot, don't you? Do you think we need a mascot?

SPEAKER_01

I think number one podcast for people should have a mascot, right? Or or at least maybe some people should, you know, the pe no, people should throw in some ideas, like mascot. Like, like throw it out.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, there you go, though. Right there, you've come up with the whole reason for this episode so we can ask our listeners for ideas for what our mascot should be. Right. Because we're always trying to engage with our listeners, get them to write in.

SPEAKER_01

You're trying to engage with people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, with people, like the babcocks.

SPEAKER_01

Now, if it's not number one podcast for the people, yeah, how about you just you never call them the babcocks? They're just babcocks.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, I think you're right.

SPEAKER_01

Like, and and maybe you try to not use the word the at all. Ever.

SPEAKER_00

That would really drive home on how we're we're trying to not use that in our title.

SPEAKER_01

Right.

SPEAKER_00

And because we don't use it at all.

SPEAKER_01

Because we're cutting edge. Or you're cutting edge. I'm just a I'm just uh like a guest.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, that look like riding a mountain bike around here. He's riding a mountain bike. Seems crazy. Like, what are you doing?

SPEAKER_01

It's gotta be hard.

SPEAKER_00

That's gotta be hard.

SPEAKER_01

It's not really that hard. No, I don't know. It's like riding a bike.

SPEAKER_00

Up a hill? Up a mountain? He's not gonna go on that hill.

SPEAKER_01

He's just gonna go back to the room. This is just gonna be this. This is just oh, he's just on this. She was on shelf road.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, wait. Yeah, when I was walking with my friends. On shelf road, it's here. She was here walking back and forth.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, this is where they come?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, this is where she came.

SPEAKER_00

But you just walk back and forth?

SPEAKER_01

All the way. It just is this all the way.

SPEAKER_00

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

And then you can take now. Now, now people that listen to this people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Those people.

SPEAKER_01

Do they even know that we're talking about things that they don't even know what we're talking about?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that doesn't matter because it's the kind of thing you just you're washing dishes and you're listening, you're you're jogging, you're pulling weeds, whatever you're doing, like it's just back, it's just like it's just like you're hanging out with us while you're doing it.

SPEAKER_01

Even if we're talking about something that they don't know what we're talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Like my wife having a having a walk on Shelf Road at another time, which was not part of any previous any previous yeah, it doesn't matter because if you've just joined us, like this is your first episode, you wouldn't know anything about anything. Like you all you have to start somewhere, and you just that's true. You know, you gotta start somewhere. It's like jumping on, just jump into the pool. Just jump in, man.

SPEAKER_01

So how's the water? Oh, I said uh I said it again. How's water?

SPEAKER_00

See, it's not hard to not use that word. We just don't use that word.

SPEAKER_01

Can we use the plural of the words?

SPEAKER_00

Does can you use the can you use plural of words, you mean?

SPEAKER_01

Of that particular word.

SPEAKER_00

Well, we played uh scrap scrabble today, speaking esta, and Brianna here won, but there's a lot of there's like an always an asterisk that's gonna live by that wind forevermore. Because number one, she wrote the word theirs, T H well, she had the word there, and you added an S, right? I think you added an S to the word theirs. So we're we're gonna come back to that. Just hold on. But we're chronological order. They don't know what chronological order is.

SPEAKER_01

They know exactly what chronological order is.

SPEAKER_00

They don't know what our chronological order is. Theirs. Hey, theirs T-H-E-R-E-S. That is not a Scrabble word. It shouldn't be a Scrabble word. But we found out it was.

SPEAKER_01

But we found out it was.

SPEAKER_00

It's not supposedly, you challenge the word supposedly it's not abbreviate. It's it's not the abbreviated version of their to theirs. There is or there has. The conjunction. Supposedly, it's a it's a plural of the word there, which nobody could ever tell me how to use in a sentence. Ask here, ask your listeners to put theirs, you know who could do it's a proper sentence. Jared could do it.

SPEAKER_01

Jared?

SPEAKER_00

Jared's uh in um Vancouver. He's just smart about it. Like anytime we have a question and we don't know, we don't use, we try not to use the internet, we ask Jared. Jared, because that gets Jared to write in with an answer. Because he knows, he just knows. He's just serious. He's our seer.

SPEAKER_01

So Jared needs to use theirs. T-H-E-R-S-S. Yes, plural, not apostrophe.

SPEAKER_00

No apostrophe.

SPEAKER_01

Use that in a sentence.

SPEAKER_00

Yes. So that how do you say it?

SPEAKER_01

Sentence?

SPEAKER_00

In a sentence. Sentence. So that was one situation where I I told uh donkey, I said, if I challenge, every time I've ever challenged, I lose. Well, she was gonna get like 600 points for that turn or something. And I was like, all right, I'm challenging. And then I lost. So then then then no, go back. But she go back to to redyed?

SPEAKER_01

Redyed.

SPEAKER_00

She started she started early with re-dyed r-ed y e-d. Reddyed. Like I dyed the shirt and then I re-dyed the shirt.

SPEAKER_01

No, it wasn't it wasn't uh in the past, it was re-dye.

SPEAKER_00

It was re-dye. I'm gonna re-dye my shirt. Well, I didn't challenge that. You didn't, and guess what? But wasn't there two on that? Yeah, there was another one.

SPEAKER_01

There was redyed like N-E, maybe or something? That's a real word. Oh, that is. Yeah, we took that one up. Okay.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, re-dye is not a word for all of you following at home for Scrabble, writing these things down, making notes. Redie is not a word. I should have challenged it. Yeah. And then later she used another one. V U, wasn't it? V U. Not a word. Not a word. Well, it's a word with words with friends. That's not what we're playing. Nope. You know. But she won fair and square. Ish. I was the second winner. We're gonna have a rematch. I was the second winner. So who was in last? You. But I'm I yeah, I was. I admit it. I don't have a good excuse. I was fully expecting you to win. Yeah, well, next time. Maybe in the rematch I'll win. Maybe in an alternate reality. I didn't get any triple word scores. They both got triple word scores. And because like they set each other up or whatever. I don't know. Like he would set her up and she would set him up. You came after him. Yeah, you came after me. Yeah, don't listen to all that. They basically they set each other up.

SPEAKER_01

So what is so what we have two call outs. One is help out with a map, like come up with ideas for mascot. Call out one. Right. Call out two. It's to Jared. Use theirs in a sentence. In what?

SPEAKER_00

In a sentence. Sent it. Sentence? Sentence. How do you say it? Sentence.

SPEAKER_01

Just say it. Just say it quick.

SPEAKER_00

Sentence.

SPEAKER_01

Sentence? Like seance.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. But you know, the other thing before I go, I will say, Courtney's kind of famous. Yeah. The the uh big monkey from the last episode.

SPEAKER_01

He was in the bachelor. He was like in a bachelor.

SPEAKER_00

Was he? Yeah. Was he a bachelor? Yes. He was the bachelor.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, was it? Yeah, Bachelor Australia or something like that. He was like, yeah. I've been in airports with him and I've had girls scream and then run up to him. Really? Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Did they say big monkey?

SPEAKER_01

He was also in, no. He was also in the celebrity bachelor sports edition, like like um for the um Olympics or something.

SPEAKER_00

I love that Toyota right there. That's a nice Toyota. Yeah, he got the best shape on that. That's the Toyota Land, uh, isn't it the Land Cruiser? The new one? I don't know. No, it's the um, what is it? Yeah, it's a Land Cruiser. Force Max. I was like, what does that say? It says Force Max. Yeah, the new Land Cruiser looks really good. Alright, what were you saying? He was in a special Australian something?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was like a celebrity version of Bachelor. So he did Bachelor. Okay. And then did all that. And then he was so good at that he did celebrity celebrity um bachelor.

SPEAKER_00

And now he's doing like celebrity podcast like uh appearances with us at Talk Sports Talk.

SPEAKER_01

He's a number one podcast for people.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

He's our I would say he's your official sports commentator. I wonder if anybody could Because he knows all kinds of sports.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder if I'll I'll I'll uh I'll try to call him next time. I don't I don't know if he's this knucklehead.

SPEAKER_01

This knucklehead did he was a high jump. He was a he did high jump. Okay, you know what high jump is?

SPEAKER_00

No. Oh, it's on in the Olympics.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, not with a pole, that's pole vault. Like high jump.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And he just created his own way to do a high jump. Like he was just like, forget it. I'm gonna do it however you're doing it, which is called the Fosberry flap, when that's inside it inside baseball, where they go over with their back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's how they do it.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

He just decided to like tuck and roll from the front.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, nobody done that before.

SPEAKER_01

Nobody done it. He invented it.

SPEAKER_00

And he got higher than anybody else.

SPEAKER_01

I uh he probably all he could get over the pole. He probably did.

SPEAKER_00

So that would be another thing for our listeners. They could try to find who this mystery person, the big monkey, is like, because we we've given him enough information now, right?

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But but you know him from from a from the show you guys made together called Fixers.

unknown

Yeah, definitely.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. Donkey here made a show called Fixers. It's on BYU TV. But that's another story for another day, because we're back at our car. That was a great hike. Yeah, we're back at our car, Marge. Alright.

SPEAKER_01

Do you ever sign off?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I do.

SPEAKER_01

Did you ever sign off?

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, you see. Okay, thank you.

SPEAKER_01
