It would be the hottest. But right now, it's all of a sudden it's breezy, breezy, breezy. What what do you think's do you think that's like a like we are we gonna see some rain? Maybe it's like a tropical storm blowing in. Man, if that was the case, I'd be so happy. Do you have you looked in any weather? Uh, you know what? This time of year, I never do.

Well, that that's not what I was gonna say, but that also happens to be true. Uh, I was gonna say that the fork in in north central Florida for this time of year, the forecast is identical every day. Identical. It just is. It just is. It's either definitely gonna rain in the afternoon or probably gonna rain. Or, you know, very likely.

It used to be that way. It used to be pretty regular where it rained every afternoon, but we're in this drought and it hasn't really it's not responsible. I feel like we're coming out of it, but maybe we haven't fully come out of it. I hope I hope your feeling is right because I I don't know.

It has been raining. I mean, maybe not like excessively raining. Yeah, a little bit. It rained yesterday.

Yeah, a little bit, right? Yeah. I see I wasn't here. I went to uh It should me springs yesterday. Oh fun. So when when we got out there on the river, we had SUPboards, which is a stand-up paddle board. Right. A lot of people don't know what a SUPboard is. Right. I don't know if that's the official name. I feel like that's the name of it. SUP. It's a it's like a it's like a well-known acronym. Yeah. And they're actually inflatable and and they're bigger than a they kind of look like a surfboard, but they're bigger and they inflate up really nice and hard. And you can stand up and paddle on them. I w I tend to sit down. I sit down on mine when we're paddling down the river. Sure. Uh it is like Caroline got them, and I was like, we don't need those. We have a canoe, we have a couple canoes, like we don't even take the canoes. Like, why do we need those? Right. Well, it's it is nice because you can jump off and swim and get right back on, right? Which is a lot harder to do in a canoe.

It's challenging in a canoe, I would know.

Yeah, yeah. So that's great. Everybody has their own. You jump off, you jump in. It is nice that way. They they and then you can just it takes a little time to to to blow them up and deflate them and then dry them out and roll them all back up. But it seems like it's it's worth it. Um so when we were on the river, we got a late start, and we got out there, and then it started getting windy like this, and then it and we it rained on us. Right, some some rain blew it. It rained, and on the way home it was raining. But I it didn't rain hard, and I when I got home it was wet, but I didn't know how much it was.

Yeah, it wasn't. I wouldn't say it was a downpour. It was, you know, it was a moderate amount of rain. Yeah.

Right, right. I I petitioned you to move the the taping of the podcast up one day. Yeah, and that's because tomorrow I'm going out of town.

Going out of town tomorrow. So I wanted to have the um the freedom of flexibility in my plans to leave town earlier if I wanted to, which I really go, and can you say? Uh of course I could tell you. My life my life's an open book.

Uh let me guess, let me guess. You're going with the family, right? You're gonna go camping. No. You're gonna go see some relatives.

Well, I mean, that's like that's sort of accurate. Okay. But not probably not in the way that you mean, no. All right, well, what are you doing? We're going to Universal Studios Orlando. Oh. We're going to the new Universal theme park, which is called Epic Universe. How new is it? I mean, it's like the new, I don't think it's super new anymore, but it's like the newest one.

Yeah. Yeah. Well, you've been to, you must have been to Universal, uh like Islands of Adventure, no?

I really don't really know. We this not something that we really like to do. You're not a uh theme park family. No, and I took my kids to Wild Adventures. Um because Caroline Caroline really hates it. Right. I don't mind it as bad. Understandably. Like I mean, Disney World is rough. I think what happened is my mom took the kids to Disney World when they were when they were younger because we didn't want to go. Right. We did take the get the kids to uh Legoland, which they which we enjoyed. That was fun. It was new at the time. Right. Uh I know Kata has now that she's old enough, has been to Universal a a couple times. Right. She goes with her friends. Uh she'll they'll go now that they can drive and you know, yeah. I I I pay for it, but um I don't know that I I've been no, you know what? I've been to Disney, I've been to Epcot. Right. I don't think I've been to Universal, but I feel like I've been to what did you call it? Islands of Adventure. Right.

Well, so there's the OG Universal, which was just Universal Studios. And that was the one. I mean, that's probably what do they have there? Like they have That's like the um uh what do they have there? They have the uh they don't have it anymore, but when they opened up they had like Jaws and Back to the Future. Yeah. Um I've never been there. Yeah, yeah, that's the original one.

But they have roller coasters out there. They're all roller coasters. They have roller coasters, right? And then maybe like, well, let's see. I I remember when it was. It was in 2001, Islands of Adventure opened up. So probably like Universal was that a water park? No, no, no. It's like a second universal theme park. Oh. Like a better one. And that and then that's where they built Harry Potter World. They built they built like half of it in the original Universal, and they built the other half in Islands of Adventure. And then like maybe a year or two ago. And you went to there. I went to there, yeah. Um, and then maybe like a year or two ago, this one, Epic Universe. Did you go to theirs? No, no. Both of theirs? What do you mean both of theirs?

That's a good example because you said theirs, and I was like, what do you tie? I was like, I have no idea what you're talking about. What language are you speaking there? And then you've been to both things? I've been to, yeah, I've been to Universal. I want to come back to that though. And the Islands of Adventure. Oh, we're gonna come back to that. Okay. I have a lot to say about that. Okay, good, good. Uh and then, yeah, so anyway, Epic Universe. They do have a water park, but I haven't been there.

But what's the new one called?

It's called Epic Universe. That's where you're going. That's where we're going. And what is there? It's just, I don't know. I I I actually don't know. I know they have more Harry Potter rides, they have like Super Mario World, they have um How to Train Your Dragon, which is like a franchise that my kids never got into, but I know it's like I thought the show was great. Yeah, I never saw it.

I saw it, and I think I saw one and two. Uh-huh. I don't know if I saw three. I remember liking that show. I saw it with kids, and then I was like, oh.

But yeah, but really the thing I'm looking forward to most of all is you know, staying at the nice hotel, swimming.

Right. And Sarah and my sister Sarah and her kids. Oh, okay. Okay, perfect. So the cousins. Right, and and our friend Deborah, who's a friend of the pod, dude.

Yeah. Well, she's been here all week. Like I took, I went down there on Sunday. To Orlando? No, no, to my parents' house. Okay. And uh, and she her she she and her kid flew in uh Saturday night. So they've been like they're staying with your Well, they're staying with she's staying with my sister. Her Deborah and my sister are her best friends. Gotcha, gotcha. So they're they're hanging out all week, but so they have kids. Uh yeah, my sister. So there's six kids? There's uh two, five kids. Five kids. Yeah, five kids. Deborah has one kid. Right. Um same age, similar age. Yeah, same age, yep.

Yeah. Oh my god, your kids must be losing their minds. Yeah, they're just having so happy. They're the perfect age. I mean, they could not be a better age.

They're just the right age. That that everything is fun. They don't, they probably they they're not gonna like if you're 15, you're probably a little too old. Right, you're kind of over age. If you're 16, you're like, it's a little annoying. If you're eight or nine, you're a little too young. 10 and 13.

Yeah. That's great. Man, I'm I you know what I have lately? What? So much FOMO. FOMO. I have so much FOMO. This girl I went to high school, this girl from high school, I saw her a reunion a couple months ago. Right. And then I see her on Facebook, and there she is with her husband and her two kids in Italy. And they're two of my friends are in Italy right now. They're in Italy, they're on a boat.

I've I've had so much Italian FOMO this past week. You have no idea.

And I'm just like, I want to be in Italy. Yeah, me too. I'm having so much FOMO. And then people for the front of house went to the beach this weekend, the beach house. Yeah, yeah, your house. And I was like, I want to be at the beach. I want to be at the beach. I'm having FOMO, man. So much FOMO. Now you're going, I'm like having FOMO, and you don't have to go. I don't even want to go, but I'm like, I'm still having FOMO. Well, Caroline right now is not in a good spot where she can travel. She's not going to Italy. She's not going anywhere. We have people saying, we have couples saying, hey, go with us to Italy this fall. Yeah, let's go. We have people, we have different people that want to go trap. I want to go trap. She just doesn't. She's not feeling it. I I was like, hey, let's go see the Weary Boys, you know, with you and Sarah. And she's like She wasn't into it. So anyway, I'm gonna, we're gonna, we're gonna, I'm gonna we're gonna go to Nashville in September to see my son. We're gonna go two three weeks, we're going to Virginia with a U-Haul. Right. Uh a lot of loading and unloading of a U-Haul, but I think we're still gonna have fun. Yeah. And then uh we're going we're going to Fort Um. I always want to say Fort White. I always want to say Fort White, but it's not. It's Fort Worth. Fort Worth. Fort Worth, Texas. That's right. Quite different from Fort White, Florida. Fort White, Florida is right is right nearby, and that's right there where the rings are. Yeah, I was in Fort White. You drove thort white. I say Fort White all the time. I know people who live in Fort White, and so when I say Fort, I'm like, what is it? Fort Fort Worth. I don't I've never said Fort Worth. Fort Worth is almost the same. I've never said that word, so I can't remember. Anyway, yeah, I'm excited about Fort Worth. That'll be a fun trip. Oh, I can't wait. Um, but anyway, I'm having a lot of FOMO. I'm having a lot of FOMO.

But I mean, I like what I'm at and what I'm doing. I just no, but I can relate to that, especially when you're saying that about Italy. I've had major they I'm seeing on my Instagram these pictures, and I'm just like, wow, that's it.

She's like, I have the guy's number. He took her, they, you know, the boat guy took the if they stop and swim along the way, the cliffs are there. It's beautiful. You can't beat that. But you can just tell, like, they're laying out on the boat. It's just this one guy took the his family, her family, to this, you know, around, and you're just like, and she's like, I got I'll give you the guy's number. And I'm like, Yeah, I want his number. Like, I want your I want your whole vacation. Just sit down. Give me that sand. Give me that.

Oh okay. Well. We're a travel podcast now. I was gonna say that uh the thing is, so last week we spent a little time on Jared's uh email where he's he he looked surprisingly, instead of like speaking to us like a normal human that he normally would, it looks like he just grabbed a quote off the internet and then grabbed like a definition off the internet and put that into an embodiment email. Or maybe he said, AI, send these guys back an email with an example and a definition of theirs or whatever he did. And I wasn't satisfied.

Well, what he did was he he kind of provided us with a concrete example of the word theirs being used in a sense, you know, wasn't it 1879? Yeah, it was something like that, but it doesn't matter, it could be from any point in history. But that's what he he he's basically saying to us, uh, hey, checkmate. Here's somebody using the word theirs.

I was not, I did not feel I did not get the so not only did I not feel satisfied like I normally would every time that we've reached out to Jared. You feel like they got he gets tied up somehow and he fingers then what well I not only did I not feel satisfied, but I felt so unsatisfied that I named the whole episode uh after him. I remember we doubt Jared. Right. And now I'm I'm starting to think there might be some blowback today by that. Do you think there's gonna be blowback? There may be, there may be. It would be Jared blowback. Jared would be pissed back. He's gonna be pissed. I can imagine Jared getting pissed, but he maybe maybe he will. He might be pissed. You never know. I have not looked at the mail. I don't know what's going on with the mail.

I haven't looked at it either, but that's that's one of the things that makes this podcast so cutting edge. We don't screen the email, we don't look at it ahead of time. Yeah. When it's time for the mailbag at the beginning of the of the pod, we'll by the time we get the podcast started, we're gonna jump right into the mailbag. Do the mailbag first and then um and then yeah, but I but yeah, I haven't looked in there, so I don't know. Maybe we have maybe our inbox is overflowing with emails from Jared. I just want to do that. And other people defending Jared. Right, and I wouldn't know it till because I haven't looked. Yeah.

Oh, no, no. They say nil all. Nil all? Nil all. I've heard people on well, probably. Probably uneducated Americans, right?

So they were up, and Caroline was like, oh my god, like the Democratic Republic of Congo has won against England. She's really surprised. Major upset in the middle. So I'm like, wow. So we're I'm we're we're wrapping like uh glassware and doing stuff. I look over and I watch England score. Right. And then 10 minutes later, they score again. I am happened to be there when they score again. I'm not watching the game actively.

Yeah, in the 20 seconds that they score, I happen to be seeing it both time. So that was very exciting because uh that's all you really want to see is the score. Yeah, that's that is kind of true. I do feel like it's one of these, one of these sports, though, that you can really just veg out. You can veg out. That's why I like it so much. You can drink a beer, that's why I like it so much. Drink another beer, another beer. It just and you get you're just and it's it's like very low, like it's not intense, like it's not like basketball, back and forth, intense, intense, intense football. It's kind of the opposite of basketball in a lot of ways, yeah. Yeah. It's not nearly it, it doesn't seem nearly as boring to me as baseball, but I don't watch a lot of baseball.

Baseball is like a completely different um I I don't I don't really know how to say this, but baseball is like a completely different mindset. It's just like it's more like a strategy game than a physical athletic game. Of course, certainly you need athleticism to play baseball. I'm not saying that. But I'm just saying it I feel like the strategy aspect far outweighs the you know, you mean am I gonna go to first base or second base? Yeah, well, you know, just all the all the strategy that's involved, like, you know, um you know, because like uh all the scenarios, right? Like it like every you have to like there's a lot of moving parts. So just based on the specific scenario, like for example, like um, okay, well you you if if there's runners on first and second, you'll do you you have to know what to do with the ball when you get it versus I don't know.

Uh well they do have a lineup that they have to follow a certain order. Okay, but what you're talking about is a pinch hitter.

Yeah, or well, they have to they they have to tell the umpire. They have to say, all right, instead of like because the umpire has the lineup written down, so they have to go officially tell the umpire they say, okay, instead of this batter who's next.

No, no, no. It's it's like a guy who is not next in the lineup, but he's a good hitter for that scenario. So the manager says, Oh, okay, you're not gonna hit where this other guy is. He's the pinch hitter.

Absolutely not. Yeah, absolutely. I have no interest in golf. Although I do recognize that it's a very difficult game. Have you ever tried to play golf? No, never yet. It is been a golf course. You you say, Oh, how hard can it be to hit that ball? No, no, it's quite hard. Yeah.

Well, first of all, it's hard to hit the ball 500 yards or however. It's hard to hit it far but even feature. Yeah, well, I'm just saying the first hit is hard. Yeah. After that, they continue to be hard. It's even hard. I don't know. That seems golf is hard. That I don't have any interest in watching that. So but yeah, but s but football uh classic football. No. Talking about soccer. Football. Soccer. Great guy. Soccer is uh It it's kind of it's kind of got a little bit of everything, you know. Like when it gets exciting, so see the shootouts the other night.

No, no. It's funny. I like I watched I watched the earlier game, which didn't have a shootout, and then I was driving home during those games, so I didn't get to see it. But I know I want to say it's France and Paraguay. No, it was um no, Paraguay beat Germany.

It was Germany, Paraguay. That's what I saw. Right. And shootout, yeah. I heard it was and Caroline's like, oh my gosh, like Paraguay's up on this game, but then it got tied up. Okay. But then it went to overtime, okay, and then it went to shootouts, and the shootouts were so exciting. That's the best Paraguay went, oh, that's the best.

Yeah, that's always fun. Right. There were two major upsets. There was that game, yeah, and the other one was uh Morocco beat the Netherlands. Oh, okay. I didn't know about that one. So explain this to me, right? The Netherlands, right? It's a country that has two different names, right? Holland. Yeah. And the Netherlands. Same country.

Well, okay. I thought maybe that like uh the Netherlands was a bigger, bigger Holland was a part of Netherlands.

I didn't really no no it's this, it's it's two names for the same country. Okay. So already it's super confusing.

But what's more confusing is this the colors of their flag is red, white, and blue. What color does the does the national soccer team wear? I don't know. Bright orange. Why? I don't know. It's super confusing. Hmm. That's that's uh I think it's because it's the House of Orange. That was like the name. You know how like in in like European royalty there's like the Tudors, the Windsor's, you know, whatever. I think for in in Holland it was House of Orange or something like that. I don't know. I don't really, I shouldn't know this. I don't know it. But um anyway, I just I I that bothers me. I wish they could just pick one name and stick with it. That's all I'm trying to say. Either commit to Holland or commit to the Netherlands. That's what that's all I'm asking.

I did not appreciate soccer at all until uh you know, my married life, and my wife was into it because she's a Latin American studies major. She's also very sophisticated culturally. And you're just a country bunker. She's a master's degree in Latin American studies, so you know that's going to be big in Brazil, Argentina, all those places. Whatever, whatever places are Latin America, they're into soccer. So she got me into it probably about four or five World Cups ago. And and we always enjoy, we have a good time watching the World Cup. I mean, she's actually got me into the Olympics too when we watch the Olympics sometime. That's fun. And I I don't, I definitely like uh World Cup better than the Olympics.

But um, but with soccer, and then the soccer, I want to call it football, but I know that that confuses a lot of our listeners. With soccer, um, they uh they they don't all have to come from the country, obviously. People are yeah, I think people are drawing people like yes, for example, USA, they're not all Americans, some of them are coming from other countries.

Yeah, no, I think they are, and I think I'm not positive, but I think the way it works is each country's national team gets to kind of decide how lax they want to be with that qualification, right? So, in other words, they could say, Oh, you have to be a citizen of what you know, whatever country. Yeah. But a good example of what you're talking about is um is Curacao, the Caribbean nation. Uh-huh. Only one of the players on their national team was actually born in Curaçao. Oh, that's bad. Right. The rest are from guess where? The Netherlands, oh, Holland. Oh, yeah. Because it was a it's a former Dutch colony. Okay. So that's why there's a connection. But but I think what happened was they said, oh, they said, oh, okay, now you just have to have um your your your heritage. Like you, if your parents, like you could be born wherever, but if your parents were born in Cursau, then you can you qualify to play on the national team, which is why they even made the World Cup this year, qualify for it. Right. Because they're getting like a lot of people. But they could have taken some of those players and put them on the Netherlands and done better. Well, I obviously they didn't uh hey.

So what I've been doing is I went to the backyard where I do have well water, and I'm and now I'm digging a trench quite a ways. I have to go under a walkway of bricks, so I have to lift all that up, pull the bricks out, make a mess, go through some beds that are established beds, okay, and get and and then buy a bunch of, you know, and so I'm and the thing is is like I gotta I'm gonna tie in to this one-inch pipe underground, and you know, I don't know if you've ever done it, but it's real tricky because you have to dig enough of the pipe out that you can cut it a couple times and put in a T. And still have yeah, like and you gotta make it you gotta lift it up and get it in there in this one-inch thing, and you gotta untie it down. And so what I was getting at, the reason I say that is because be between like all of this, and I I put another spigot out there in the in the orchard last week, another one, but it wasn't too far. I had to run it. So I'm I'm between the stuff I'm doing out here and then the tile I'm making and uh this painting I'm doing and just general yard work. The watching, you know, watching World Cup is like it's like I it you can spend all day doing it, certainly. You know, but I um but I do enjoy like coming up for a water break, coming inside, right? Look at it for a little bit. Maybe you get lucky if someone will score while you're watching. Maybe they're gonna score. And you know, a lot of times if they don't score while I'm watching, they get they show the last score. They show every every 10 minutes. Quite frequently. Yeah, they're like, Because that's the only exciting thing that's happening with it. Well, and also it's like that, it's it's uh so amazing that they score at all. Right. Like they just it's just with their head. Yeah, you know, incredible. It's really incredible. The athleticism is like I love it when somebody like I might like I might like accidentally slap your chin, and you could just fall down and scream back and forth, and they have to sell it. Yeah, oh my god, they gotta sell it. There's so much drama going on.

Thing is, we got the springs. So I went sub boarding yesterday, and you just go to these. I mean, it's hot. What happened Sunday? I was working in the yard doing one of these. Yeah, I was putting in that spigot out back.

You can go to the one where you like one where you get into a tube and you and you tube down it, and then tram takes you back, and you could tube it as many times as you want. You can go to the one we went to, which is the one where the half, the bottom half is tubing. We went to the top half and we got on subboards. You can do kayaks there, right? Um you can do the one where Devil's Den, where you snorkel, right? And there's a big place to swim. Devil's Den is a true gem. There's Jenny Springs. I mean, here there's so many beautiful there like there's just a lot of beautiful nature for recreationing in.

I mean, it's uh you know, it goes back and forth, and it's all crystal clear. Beautiful. And it's always 72 degrees year-round. And that one headspring is makes that whole flow happen. And you can swim in in that pool at the headspring. And all of these springs have this place where you can swim. Yeah. The downside is you got Nestle over here bottling up water for like a $50 a year permit, and they can bottle up as much as they want and ship it out. Yeah. And so they're gonna, they're gonna, it's gonna not, it's not always gonna be like that because of these, because of people drinking bottled water.

It feels so real. Like to say, to sit here and be like, I really thought I was flying on a broomstick, I know that sounds so silly, but I legitimately thought I was really in that Quidditch match with Harry Potter and Gryffindor on a like it seemed that real. I just couldn't believe it. And now, I mean, that was like probably 10 years ago. You know what I mean? Like it's probably even better now. Like I I was just blown away. Like I couldn't believe how cool it was. Um there's two guys there that are.

Now she switched, she realized that it was she needs to switch back. So she's got because of the flu, but that was just one thing that happened.
