Field recording from Emmy

SPEAKER_01

Well, I started recording. They're on a hiatus.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, until like November or whatever, right? Yeah. Probably a little earlier than that. What's up, D Dog? What up, Sliceberg? We're here in the woods of Oklahoma.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we're taking you through a hike.

SPEAKER_00

I got my new low-profile sports knee brave on, so I'm allowed to walk again for longer durations.

SPEAKER_01

I started the field recording because I wanted you to hear the bugs, but now they're not going anymore. Um, what do you have to report?

SPEAKER_00

Uh my ACL is healing.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Finished six weeks of physical therapy.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Got prescribed six more weeks.

SPEAKER_01

Yep.

SPEAKER_00

Sleeping better without any Tylenol or Atvil.

SPEAKER_01

Nice. Now we're just walking through the woods.

SPEAKER_00

Emmy's got her shorts and t-shirt and sandals on. Yep. I've got boots and long pants and a sunshirt on. We could take a picture and send it.

SPEAKER_01

That's true, we could.

SPEAKER_00

Um mosquitoes love to bite me.

SPEAKER_01

I'm also covered in mosquito bites, but not as bad. And yeah, we're gonna look for turtles.

SPEAKER_00

And it's so hot and humid.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it's really hot. It's miserable. I don't know why you guys like it so much. I guess that's just not how we grew up. Yeah. I mean, I grew up in mostly cold places. Sheldon's from Denver.

SPEAKER_00

But there's never any humidity.

SPEAKER_01

No, but it does get very hot there.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But anyway.

SPEAKER_00

Then you can go to the mountains where it's cooler.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, we could go try to skip stones up here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I don't see any good stones. Ooh. Let's see. There's a pond up here. All the rocks are kind of gravelly. They're not really flat on this part of the trail. Looks like Sheldon got one.

unknown

It's not a great trail.

SPEAKER_01

Sheldon took our friend's rock skipping yesterday.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, one of our friends is leaving Tulsa.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she already. We moved here for a program called Tulsa Remote. Um, and she is leaving. She got a cool job offer to move to the middle of the ocean to do finance, I guess. I don't know. I don't know what her deal is.

SPEAKER_00

Finance for the US government.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, she's a contractor for the government, but um I had her barewell dinner last night. I didn't get to go because I was at my dumb job. I don't know if we're gonna be able to skip any stones here.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's pretty overgrown.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe up here.

SPEAKER_00

Pretty overgrown.

SPEAKER_01

Perhaps up here. Uh I'm working on my customer service compilation. I've got some good stories for you. That looks like an aspen tree, but I know it isn't. Ooh, Sheldon got two skips. Let's see.

unknown

How do you describe this? Too much.

SPEAKER_01

We'll take a picture.

SPEAKER_00

Too much plants in the water.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, probably disrupting the frogs.

SPEAKER_00

Cool. The frogs just wrapped my sleep.

SPEAKER_01

That's true. That's true. We didn't have anything magnificent there. There's some dragonflies doing their thing.

SPEAKER_00

A lot of greenage. A lot of greenery.

SPEAKER_01

Do you want to describe the pizza I made the other night?

SPEAKER_00

A lot of flora.

SPEAKER_01

Um, we can sit on this bench.

SPEAKER_00

We made pizza the other night, and it was really delicious.

SPEAKER_01

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_00

No sauce.

SPEAKER_01

No, there was sauce.

SPEAKER_00

Was it olive oil?

SPEAKER_01

No, I put tziki on there.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, taziki. Tatziki. No tomato sauce. Then it had what, sun-dried tomatoes?

SPEAKER_01

No, just regular tomatoes.

SPEAKER_00

Regular tomatoes, olives, feta.

SPEAKER_01

Artichokes. That was it.

SPEAKER_00

And then it had the seasoning.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, now we're out of that seasoning. We're gonna have to go back to Trader Joe's.

SPEAKER_00

I was taking a nap and I wake up to Emmy going. That's true. I was choking. I was like, what's happening? And she was like, the seasoning. I was choking on it. I was actually maybe a little bit in trouble. She got shocked by all the spice.

SPEAKER_01

No, I was I was choking for real. Um, it was bad. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And it was really good. We ate the whole pizza.

SPEAKER_01

We did, it was really good. I love a feta pizza. I love a Greek pizza. I've been Jonesing for a Greek pizza. Can you give a review of the caper pizza?

SPEAKER_00

Caper pizza is always 10 out of 10.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I burned my hand making the caper pizza pretty bad, but it's healing. I burned my hand right by my thumb and my forefinger on my right hand, and so it was having a hard time healing because that's kind of the crucial, those are the crucial digits for me as a right-handed person. Any other updates?

SPEAKER_00

Don't move to Oklahoma.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, don't move to Oklahoma. We're also we want out too. I should have applied for that aquatics director job in Gainesville.

SPEAKER_00

I think it's still open.

SPEAKER_01

Maybe. I don't think Florida's for us either, though.

SPEAKER_00

Florida could be for me.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

Tell us why we should move to Florida on this podcast. Try to sell us.

SPEAKER_01

Sell us on Florida. Yeah. Um. I don't think it's happening. But maybe. Maybe. Maybe. We kind of want to, well, we don't really want to move back to Denver, but there's a circumstance making us want to move back to Denver.

SPEAKER_00

There's like two dragonflies fucking.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, there's it's must be dragonfly mating season. But there's like a third one trying to get in on it. There's a cuck dragonfly. Maybe I should cut this. I don't know.

SPEAKER_00

No, it's it's appropriate.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. Well, this is cool.

SPEAKER_00

The kids and the bees, kids.

SPEAKER_01

And the bugs.

SPEAKER_00

The bugs and the bees, kids. Yeah, they're riding each other.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they are. I tried to take a picture of a bumblebee on one of my big sunflowers this morning, but it got scared. So, yeah, this is gonna be long.

SPEAKER_00

What's up, Grammy? Too long, sorry.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, bye.
