We forget sports talk
Dude, we we forgot to do sports talk, right? Right. How can we forget? Right. I was just gonna say, I feel like that's the beating heart of the podcast, and we didn't even didn't even occur to us. I mean, one thing that happened is USA played. Sure, they sure did. They played and they lost. Did you watch that game? I did.
SPEAKER_01What about that time that the goalie did was out of the box?
SPEAKER_00Right.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00That was that was the worst. I mean, the game was embarrassing. Full of embarrassments, that was probably the worst one. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. Well, um, we just weren't good enough. Even with Balogun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, right. It turned out turned out Trump uh intervened for literally no reason. Made no difference.
SPEAKER_01Made no difference. Um I've been watching a lot of games, and I guess I want to say when I I did say something about uh the conspiracy theory or whatever, right? I mean, the problem that I started to have with with uh World Cup is that there was a game where Egypt was playing um Argentina.
SPEAKER_00I I remember this game, I watched it.
SPEAKER_01And Egypt was up one nothing. They were up two nil. Then they were up two nil. They were up two nil. Then they called back that goal. That's right. And to me, that said, this is rigged.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that was horseshit because the they That's rigged. The the foul that they called happened at the complete other end of the fee of the pitch, as they call it. Right? So what happened was that they and it was and the guy had grabbed his shirt for like a second, but it wasn't like well, and he like stepped on his foot or whatever. But the thing is, the thing that was weird is like that that that was the foul that they called, but the play developed like you know, um like it wasn't like that led to, in other words, like they it's rigged, it's rigged, like that that it wasn't like that they found it of course it's rigged for Argentina. Of course it's rigged for Argentina, but I'll tell you what, when I was watching that game with my kids, the um when Argent or excuse me, when Egypt was up 2-0, I turned to my kids and I said, you know what? Argentina's gonna win this game. Argentina is too good. There is no way that Argentina is gonna lose to Egypt. It's impossible.
SPEAKER_01But it ended up being three to two, and if that goal wasn't pulled back, it would have been three to three. That's right. And then who knows what would have happened. Yeah, that was a heartbreaking loss. So when that happened, it turned me off. I said, This is rigged. This is a rigged. And then you got to go back and look at it in slow motion and see where he grabbed his shirt for half a second. No, that's rigged for for Argentina. And and and they give him a penalty kick. Right. They give him pen like that there I I didn't I can't follow every single little call, but I can tell you right now that I think that there's some rigging going on. First of all, you know people have millions of dollars uh bet on these games. Certainly, yeah. And if you're a if you're a referee, you're not outside of the, you know, you you you can make a big difference. You're not there, there's all kinds of shit you're not calling. Right. There's all kinds of shit you're not calling. Yeah. I don't know, man. I'm kind of a little bit, I'm a little bit jaded right now because if you want to talk about a conspiracy theory, I think FIFA is rigged. That's my conspiracy theory. FIFA's rigged. I'm wondering if we get if there's a rabbit hole online about that. If I put in the words FIFA's rigged, what are you gonna find out? Yeah, there is a rabbit hole. FIFA has been like consistently um dude. This dude's like, why are you sweating me? He's got he's got a little moped. He's got a gas can in the back, no helmet. Is that so when he runs out of gas, he can fill it out. Like, I I can't it's like these guys shouldn't even be on the road. They shouldn't be allowed on the road.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean I mean I guess they are allowed on the road, but they like how fast can that moped even go?
SPEAKER_01We're in a car. We're in a we're we're in uh Sliceberg's out uh outback, which is a forester, but we call it an outback for the season. No rules. We we got well, we do have a rule that this is an outback for this season. That's the one rule. Oh, I turned my snap back on because uh I I thought the podcast was over. So it started We can just release bonus material, you know, because we didn't talk about FIFA being rigged.
SPEAKER_00And you say if I look online and we'll I'll find out. Well, no, there is this scandal like recently, like of course, now that it's coming up, I can't remember any of the details, but within the last few years, there was like this huge scandal uh in FIFA. You know, it had to do with I pretty much what you're talking about, like match rigging. Um and uh right, so of course, now I can't remember any of the relevant details. Um but yes, FIFA, let's just say FIFA does not have a uh a sterling repu reputation when it comes to corruption or whatever, you know.
SPEAKER_01I wonder if Oklahoma bro has a night has something to say about FIFA.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but that's a conspiracy theory right there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, tell us what you think about FIFA. Are the games rigged? Certainly certainly seems rigged to me. Which makes me not like watching it as much. I was really enjoying it when I thought they were real games. Yeah, and then when I I saw them do that to Egypt, I'm like, oh man. Argentina, they're probably I I should know this, but aren't they ranked number one?
SPEAKER_00They weren't defending champions, yeah. They're ranked definitely in the top in the world.
SPEAKER_01They want Messi, Ronaldo, they want all these guys.
SPEAKER_00Because Messi, he's 39, right? This has got to be his last World Cup. So it's um it's it's a shame. Uh it's a shame that Egypt didn't pull that out because they kind of deserve to win. Kind of deserve to win.
SPEAKER_01I think it's fine like if they if that because it was three to two. So if they hadn't pulled away that goal, it'd be three to three. Right. I would love to have seen a shootout, you know, or or over time or whatever. You know, like let's see what all the things are again. Like, let's let it let them win fair and square at least. Right. Now, was it a foul? I just I I mean, I guess you're not supposed to grab the shirt. But it was it I think that if it's not called on the field and it's not egregious, they need to just either call it on the field or don't. But you can't, it's inconsistent.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think that's how it was back in the day before they used the replay.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Because I in the old days when there was no replay, like the the ref just didn't see it. And they're like, that's it, you know, like that's a that would have been a goal. Like, but now they can scrutinize, they can go back.
SPEAKER_01Oh, did you see the one where the they called it back uh a goal because they said it the ball had a chip in it, and it said it touched that guy. Uh-huh. Did that it that he that it was offsides because it touched the hairs of his head. Right, yeah. Did you see that one? No, no, but I like Okay, so there's this goal. I now it's been, you know, there's too many games too long ago. But they there was this goal, beautiful goal. Right. They called it back with offsides, and they said that the and they show it over and over and over, and you're like, that died, dude did not touch it. That dude did not touch it. You can't see his hair touching or another. Yeah. And they're like, uh, there's a chip in the ball which can which can right technology again, technology. And then and that chip in the ball says that that his hair touched it. It's like, you're gonna call off sides because this dude's like one of his hairs got it. Like, it's just like, why are you making the game so terrible? Like, just play the game. Yeah. Sliceberg, I'm really mad about this. Well, no, you should be. I'm mad about it too. You absolutely I want to enjoy soccer, and I can't even enjoy the World Cup because it's rigged. Yeah, it's it's a shame.
SPEAKER_00It's all rigged. You know, it's money. Money talks. They got, you know, it's all about money. They can sell more uh like uh Leo Messi jerseys, right? You you can't name one player on the Egyptian squad, right?
SPEAKER_01I don't think that the Egypt looked really good. No, I don't think everyone rigging it so they can sell messy jerseys. I think there's something else gonna be.
SPEAKER_00I feel like how much do you think it costs? I bet I bet how much do you think $200 for a jersey or like an authentic like you know, jersey. How much do you think was bet on Argentina winning that game?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it's countless millions, right? Countless hundreds of millions of dollars that Argentina was gonna win. Right. Because that's who you're gonna bet on. Of course you're gonna bet on Argentina. And then if you want to make sure they win, who do you talk to? That's why I said the one ref. Right.
SPEAKER_00The one who has the app the He can call it however he wants. Right. Right, exactly. Exactly.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, um I've been I uh so yeah, I don't know. There's a there's a game today.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, who even is it? Is it France Morocco? I think it is. I think you're right. Yeah, France Morgan is France Morocco, which I love when that happens, right? When the when the European colonial power faces off against the the c its former colony. You know what I mean? Yeah. Like it's like geo, it's like geopolitics, but on, you know, on a on this, you know, acted out on the soccer uh pitch.
SPEAKER_01So you said it's my choice, right? Yeah, I would go straight and then turn in on the next place. Right. Yeah. Look at you stopping for a yellow light. Wasn't that what that means? Well, it means go faster.
SPEAKER_00Well, it seems like that's what everybody thinks. Now, what if the self-driving Tesla? What was that? I bet the self- Oh no, this is funny. So uh it has it has like presets where you can basically tell it how aggressively or how fast you want to drive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And it's like, you know, like the lowest.
SPEAKER_01Five miles over the speed limit.
SPEAKER_00Well, but they're not called like that, but it's basically like, you know, slow, shh, you know, faster, whatever. But anyway, the I don't remember what any of them would call it, but the fastest one is called Mad Max. You can set it to Mad Max. That's the fastest one.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00And we were driving, like driving out of my dad's or I say we driving, the the car was driving. The car was driving, and I was like To Publix. To Publix, and we're like le driving out of their sub-development, and I'm like, dad, it seems like it's going a little fast. I would like if I was driving right now for real, I would not be driving as fast. And he looked at it and said, Oh, oh shoot, I have it on the Mad Max. Well, it wasn't Mad Max, it was the one under that. But he said, like, normally he has it on the one under that. So he's so he put it back on like this the normal, the medium one, and uh it was seen right. But I thought but it's kind of funny, right? Because it's like so he likes it. Well, yeah, yeah. They love it. They like they don't like they drove to Orlando, they met us up there at uh Universal. And um They didn't drive. They didn't drive. They drove him to it drove them from their house to Orlando.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but he's sitting in the driver's seat.
SPEAKER_00I would hope so.
SPEAKER_01Huh. Oh, I guess Sean said it looks at your eyes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, exactly. It knows who it is. Like when like when my mom gets in, it'll, you know, adjust the seat and everything, like, you know, to her. Like it knows who it is. Yeah. Again, facial recognition.
SPEAKER_01I have a hard time with with uh and and I feel like I have a lot of them, but like the you know, the the uh recurring payments, you know, because your cell phone before I had a cell phone, there was no recurring payment. I mean, I guess your home phone had it. Right, your landline, yeah. Go one more. Yeah, I guess that one would have worked. Anyway, I always go in here parking right that's it right there. Oh, I see it. I'm going to a restaurant. Didn't this place used to be on 13th Street though? Yes. Okay, yeah. Yes. And I I wasn't crazy about it, but I've been here twice and I like it. You do like it. You can park like right there.
unknownNice.
SPEAKER_00Look, they got it, they have a spot safe for us right here.
SPEAKER_01What was I saying?
SPEAKER_00Um, my memory, man.
SPEAKER_01What were you saying? Look at this short-term memory.
SPEAKER_00Right in the front. Okay, we're expecting them.
SPEAKER_01Well, I I don't oh, the recurring payment. So you got you, you know, you got your cell phone, you got your Spotify, you got your Netflix, you know. There's so many things. There's probably more than that. But I'm not thinking of HBO, yeah, all your subscriptions, all your subscriptions. And then you got to get one for your car now, too? Right. I don't want to do it. I don't mind driving. You do, yeah. I don't mind driving. You're you're old school. You're like me. Old school. I don't mind driving at all. Hey, hey, thanks, thanks for this bonus listen to our bonus episode fork talk. Thief of a conspiracy.
