Ever wondered why Pride events are such a vital refuge for the queer community? Join us as we navigate Sherman's Adventures of Pride, diving into the colorful chaos of vibrant outfits and queer spaces in Perth. We dissect the growing presence of non-allied straight individuals who attend Pride for the party, often missing its essence. Through our candid discussions, we explore the importance of keeping these spaces safe and sacred for those who truly celebrate without judgment.

Prepare for a fashion rollercoaster as we recount the highs and lows of a neon-themed party, complete with a neon green mesh top and a daring brown dress that went against the grain. Our chat takes a humorous spin with a playful mix-up between car racing and RuPaul's Drag Race, leaving us in stitches. The differences between Pride in Perth and Sydney also come under the spotlight, where we tackle how conservatism is reshaping local celebrations, including a somewhat "straight-washed" Halloween.

What do tattoos, drag, and a sexology exam have in common? A lot more than you'd think! We chat about everything from a cheeky tattoo booth idea at a nightclub to the portrayal of drag culture in the TV show "Pose." As we wrap up our vibrant episode, we invite you to engage with us across social media platforms. Whether it's sharing laughs or thought-provoking insights, we’re here to spread love and keep the conversation alive until next time!

Navigating Queer Spaces in Perth

Speaker 1

Hey guys , today's episode we are recapping Sherman's Adventures of Pride . We go into a whole heap of different shit . Actually . We talk about Sherman's outfit , we talk about how bullshit the city of Perth is and we get into Halloween and hate on straight people a little bit . That's a little bit weird , but hey , whatever . We're here , we're talking about pride , we're recapping it . Get into it . Hey to all the straights , gays and nays welcome to Supersex , the podcast where we have conversations and share our perspectives on sexuality , sex and more .

Speaker 2

I'm Sheldon and I'm Jordan , two friends , one straight , one gay , taking on all things sex . Hey dude , how's it going ? I'm good man , how are you ? I am great . Pride , pride , let's talk about pride .

Speaker 1

Let's recap it because you went , I didn't .

Speaker 2

Yeah , that's a little bit homophobic that you didn't go , is it ? Yes , it is 100% .

Speaker 1

We'll get into that .

Speaker 2

We'll get into that , but tell me it looked epic and look , I have to say it was one of the better prides that I've been to . Look , I have to say it was one of the better prides that I've been to . I don't think I've ever missed one . No , I think I did . I've missed one once , but every pride I've been to has been good . But I feel like it got to a point where pride just became boring when your people decided to invade .

Speaker 1

I don't mean English people .

Speaker 2

We do try and colonize everything . This is the problem . But for this one time it wasn't english , it was the straights see , and we'll get into this .

Speaker 1

This is why I don't do pride no , but see , this is okay .

Speaker 2

this is my thing with pride . Right , I have no issue with straight people going to pride . What my issue is is when there is this influx of straight people going to pride that aren't there as allies . They're there because it's like oh , I heard there's a party and I want to go and have fun . Yeah , yeah , you're cool , you can go have fun , that's all . That's all good . But also understanding that it's our space . Yeah , this is good . But also understanding that it's our space . Yeah , this is for us to literally be proud of who we are . Yeah , and then you'll get these idiot straight boys that come there and like staring at people because they're wearing makeup or drag queens and making stupid comments like what are you doing here ?

Speaker 1

then , yeah , it's like this is the space to do this . So , exactly , if you don't like it , fuck right off , fuck all the way off . See , and I think , my understanding of everything that's gone on and I'm hyper aware of that now and for me , pride is a place for queer people to get together and celebrate being queer together . Exactly , right , you've got 364 other fucking days . Thank you To be an ally 100% . For me , it's like you leave that the fuck alone and you let queer people have their time with their people , unless you're invited . Unless you're invited . Yes , right , and this is my personal opinion right , everybody's going to have their thing and there's going to be a lot of queer people who are jumping up and down on a bandwagon right now sitting there going oh , everybody should be invited . This is a , this is a whole community event . Cool , but for me it is . It is a space and time for queer people to get together and celebrate with queer people without having that fucking judgment of some 21-year-old straight boy going what the fuck are you wearing makeup Look ?

Speaker 2

I agree 100% , because for me , pride is I okay , you know , I like makeup , right , I like makeup . I don't wear makeup very often because I feel a certain kind of way I I don't want to put myself in a position where I'm either unsafe because , look , we don't live in sydney or san francisco or la , where you see that thing all the time . Yeah , this is a bit like redneck , it is very much country folk in perth , let's be honest .

Speaker 2

So for me , I like makeup , but I wear makeup once a year and that's pride and I'll go all out , I will do my face and if I have to say something myself , I look fucking good , I look so good your makeup was on point .

Speaker 2

It was on point , I loved it . I thought it looked amazing . Don't need anyone to tell me I know I look great , but yeah , it's my one day where I know I actually don't give a shit because I know I'm going to a place where me and my makeup is probably going to be the least craziest thing that I'm going to see and pride . And it always happens that I I think I'm going all out because it's out of my comfort zone , yeah , but then I get there and I'm like holy shit , the people here who are wearing chap , like wearing assless chaps , like wow , I thought I was going crazy with these short shorts and my pink and blue eyes exactly so for me .

Speaker 2

I I understand where you're coming from and I agree to a certain point where it's the day that we get to celebrate who we are and just it's a day where you get to be free enough to not think and not care , and that's . But that needs to be protected exactly . And the thing is already we all know that the court now is no longer a totally queer space anymore , because it's not queer at all . It's not . I mean , I've , I haven't been to the court in the past . I'm going to say two to three years . I stopped going to the court because I'd been a few times and there was majority straight people . But it was the straight people that were there .

Speaker 2

It was these young kids that didn't understand that the court has always been a queer space and these kids and also older people that will be looking at seeing two guys kissing or a drag king walking past and you see their , their eyes like what the fuck ? Their eyes , bigger sources . You're like , no , you don't understand . This is the place that I've been coming to for the past 30 fucking years . Yeah , okay , maybe not 30 years , I'm not that old the past 20 years . And you're looking at me crazy because I got a little bit of makeup on and so , for the people listening , perth is a small little city , but it's not .

Speaker 1

It's still got like a town sort of vibe .

Speaker 2

Look , I think it's a big place with a very small town mentality . Mentality , that's it , right , it's 100 . A country town mentality yeah , but we have two gay bars here . We well we used to have we used to have two gay bars right .

Speaker 1

So we've got the court , and the court was when , when it was a gay bar . Um , I think it's lost its tag . Now I've got to say like they're still trying to hold on to it . They're trying very hard . I'm sorry as a queer person .

Speaker 2

I don't identify with it being a queer venue , so absolutely the fuck , not so the court is arguably the biggest .

Speaker 1

Well , it is the biggest and it has a whole heap of different zones in there . Yep , different music and for a long , long , long time it was the primary place for gay people to go and have fun , be in their safe space . The other place was connections . Yes , connections was always a dive bar like , yeah , you would go to connections if you wanted to end up with chlamydia by sitting on the couch , and maybe sitting on a couch and maybe have your wallet stolen .

Speaker 2

Exactly Right .

Speaker 1

So it was that real dodgy place , but Connections now has revamped itself , rebranded itself . It's actually quite a nice space to be in now , but it is now the only place in Perth that is gay for gays .

Speaker 2

But see , I disagree . Oh , because what happens is so . Connections if , for anyone that doesn't know her connections is actually the longest standing nightclub in the southern hemisphere , really that is the truth . It has been open for over 40 years , no way .

Speaker 1

Yes , so it's ? Were you the first guest there as well ?

Speaker 2

fuck all the way off bitch , but yeah so , and I I never used to like going there because to me it was too seedy . Yeah , right , it wasn't for me , yeah , but the thing about connections is it's open till like five , six o'clock and it's the only club in perth gay or straight , it's the only space that's open till that time . So what tends to happen is people go there after other places for kick-ons , right , and because the court closes at two o'clock , everybody goes from the court to connections . Now what used to happen is , because the court was a predominantly gay club or LGBT club , all those people would walk over to connections and then still stay that way .

Speaker 1

But now because the court has got all these straight folk .

Speaker 2

What happens ? Going straight , they start going to connie's as well , because , well , that's the only place we can really go to and all the people that we hear know that that's where you go to yeah , yeah so you get again this flooding of straight people in the only two queer spaces that we have in the whole of perth .

Speaker 2

It's like , bro , we have two spaces to go to where we can . But the thing is , I think what people don't understand is it's about feeling comfortable . No one's trying to gatekeep the place . It's about the fact that if I go to the court , I know that majority of the people there I could probably go up to and talk to and hit on , whereas I'm not going to go to . Where do other folks go ? Where do you straight people go these days ? Give me a club name the court . You're so true , but it's like me going to the casino . I'm not going to go to the casino , yeah , and walk up to a dude and be like , oh hey , how you doing . Yeah , can I get your number ?

Speaker 1

because I know I don't feel safe in that space because that person 98 chance they're going to be straight yeah , because and I think we we have talked about this before but I think the the difference between just a regular nightclub and a gay bar is that a regular nightclub you go there to to get pissed and dance and hang out with people , whereas I think the premise changes a little bit . For gay bars right , because it is a place that is defined by sexuality . People feel more liberated to let their sexuality flow in those spaces .

Speaker 2

But if you suddenly stop defining a place by its sexuality , by sexuality , then it just becomes everything else , and then you know like you go there to find a partner and suddenly you hit on somebody and they thinking it's a gay space , but it's actually not and I mean back in the day , if I not that I ever have enough game to actually walk up to somebody , but if I went and spoke to somebody back in the day and there happened to be a random straight guy that walked in , it would never be an issue because they knew where they were , yeah , exactly . And if they got hit on it we're like , oh sorry , man , I'm actually straight exactly , and if they got hit ?

Speaker 2

on it . We're like oh sorry , man , I'm actually straight . I'm like , okay , cool , no worries man , yeah , happy days , and then you walk and it was all good , whereas now , because it's majority straight people , you go up to a guy and you say something or like , hey , or you're not even hitting on them , you just crack up a conversation and they're like oh wait , I'm not okay .

Speaker 1

Yeah , calm bro , relax it's , I don't know , it's really become I'm gonna say , problematic for me , it is very problematic .

Speaker 2

So it brings you to , brings you back to my , my experience of the nights . So the reason why I say that this was probably one of the best nights of pride that I've had in a long time is because there were no straight people , like in my , in my opinion , from other years . Because I used to think , okay , two , two nights a year , I go out pride and halloween with you , right , and it's always the court , and I started realizing that halloween became a lot more straight . So , which is cool , it's fine . But then I always knew pride's gonna be , that's gonna be the gay event , and I started realizing the past two years there were a lot more straight people and I was like , well , what the fuck ? This is the one day . Give us this at least .

Speaker 2

Anyway , this year I saw three straight couples . That was it , and then the rest of it . Yeah , there obviously was some straight people there , but for the majority I felt like this was A way more queer Year than the past two . That's so cool , which made me feel a lot more . I'm gonna say I think straight people don't understand that it's about safety . You don't actually feel safe .

Speaker 1

No , I can imagine that you wouldn't .

Speaker 2

It's like putting a black person At a Kkk meeting . They're not gonna fucking feel safe , are they ? Or you know you're taking them to , like dropping them in the middle of I don't know bumfuck , nowhere in the south of america . They're not gonna fucking feel safe , are they ? I don't know where .

Speaker 1

I don't know why I went there just imagining this black dude rolling up to a kkk meeting , and it went turn around guys . Oh , hey , guys , you want to be friends .

Speaker 2

So that's how it felt a lot more comfortable , which allowed me to feel more comfortable to have a good time and not care yeah , yeah , and that's that's what I think I use .

Speaker 1

The word gatekeeping yep , I don't think that we need to gatekeep it , but I think that that straight people need to sort of sit back and realize that for the one night a year , yeah , just give that to us . Yeah , unless you're invited , stay the fuck away , go home and crochet or play fucking Scrabble or something . Just have one night . Just have one night .

Speaker 2

Just have one night , you know , just have your bland little straight night by yourself with your partner .

Speaker 1

Do things that straight people do .

Speaker 2

Yeah , whatever that is , I don't know if I can go to Bunnings .

Speaker 1

Buy some gardening equipment .

Speaker 2

Buy some gardening equipment , go fucking outside and don't be a hoe , use a hoe . Yeah hoe , yeah , so yeah for me . The recap for my night was one . There was not that many straight people , so I had a great time .

Neon Outfits and Drag Queens

Speaker 2

Um , I think I looked fucking fabulous , so explain your outfit , though , like okay , so this .

Speaker 2

I've seen the photos and it looked fucking great , but see this is the problem with you fucking straight people , because , all right , so my outfit . So the theme was neon , which I already had an issue with , because they had that theme like five years ago which was like stop recycling , but anyway , whatevs .

Speaker 1

So the theme was recycling's good , recycling's fine . It made my life easier so it was neon themed .

Speaker 2

Yeah , so I decided black shirt , black shorts , and then I bought uh uv paint and I just threw it on the shirt . Problem is , is that every straight person that I know with their dirty ass fucking mind all went ?

Speaker 1

oh that just looks like cum on your shirt . Didn't my wife send you a message saying it looks like you've been cum on by a troll or something like that ?

Speaker 2

I was like no , it's gay cum . All different colours , colours of the rainbow , it's gay cum .

Speaker 1

A unicorn Blue . It's late on me , exactly .

Speaker 2

So I just like threw this paint on there and it looked pretty cool and in the back I got my friend to do like two hearts and then love is love . Yeah , it looked awesome . Problem is I didn't realize that the it's UV paint , it's not neon paint . Oh , so it doesn't show up as neon because it soaks into the material , but only when you get there and then the neon , the blue lights , the blue light , yeah , the black lights go onto it .

Speaker 2

You're like , oh , that looks cool . But yeah , the outfits were interesting . There were a lot of crazy people , so what was ?

Speaker 1

is it one that sticks out in your mind ?

Speaker 2

There's got to be one that sticks out in your mind , right , the neon green mesh top with the guy that I think he had dreads and he had like he must have painted neon in his hair or something . It was . Yeah , it was . It looked cool , but apart from that it wasn't as crazy as I thought it would be , like there wasn't that many people that I was like . I mean , the last time I went to the court , I don't know , we talked , we spoke about it when they had a dark room and there were people walking around in G-strings .

Speaker 1

That was very different so I'm gonna put in something from way back when . Can you remember Metro's Frio how they used to do those underage nightclub ? Parties right and Talking about neon and G-strings , white pants were a thing early 2000s , weren't they ? Yes , there was the hottest girl . She was hot when I was like 17 .

Speaker 2

So , she's probably like a three now , but like at that time , she was a 10 .

Speaker 1

Three and a half . Right , but she had a neon green glow-in-the-dark thong through white pants .

Speaker 2

Oh , my days . And that must have .

Speaker 1

At that point I think every 17-year-old in that building was just like standing to attention . It was like the fucking President of the United States was walking through every time she moved .

Speaker 2

All the guys are saluting .

Speaker 1

Little tin soldiers ?

Speaker 2

See , actually , no one . There wasn't that many people wearing white either . But I have to talk about one thing , so I went with my cousin . All right , the theme's neon . Yep , I go , I make my whole outfit , I get ready . She's known about this for weeks , if not months . Yep , do you want to guess what color she wore ? Black , brown , brown . She wore a brown dress . You could kill me for coming for this one but she wore a brown dress .

Speaker 2

Did she look wonderful ? Absolutely she looked great . But I got there . I got there , I was like bitch , what the fuck ? So I took a picture . I put it on instagram . I was like can you tell who did not get the memo that it was neon , and I'm like you could have worn white and you would have stood out under the UV lights At least . At least , though , she wore a brown dress .

Speaker 1

Well , did she just stand there like on the outside of the party ? Well , no .

Speaker 2

I could see her because she's just wearing brown , and she is brown too , so it looked like she was naked .

Speaker 1

That's problematic it was .

Speaker 2

It was a fun night . The one thing I do want to talk about right , so we don't talk about the cool , the straight people , but two things I want to talk about . One this is gonna I know if there's any drag race fans out here , I'm gonna get roasted for this .

Speaker 1

So drag race is in car drag racing or drag racing as in you're so straight , I can't drag right now , I can't even right now .

Speaker 2

I'm just clarifying , okay , for all you straight people that listen out there . Drag race , not cars drag racing each other drag race as in drag queens . Oh right , we're gonna race each other . Rupaul's Drag Race , oh . So it's not like there's no cars , just for the record . There's no racing , there's no cars , it's not just two muscly dudes dressed up in like sequins dress and high heels sprinting 100 meters .

Speaker 2

I mean , I'd still love to see that , but no , just imagine a Usain Bolt in high eels . Christie just actually is a really good idea . They should do that . But this is drag race is ? It's a competition where drag queens from ahead . There's different um factions from around the world , but the first one from america . Drag stars all over , drag queens all over from america come to one place . They do um these . Uh , what you call them ? What you call them ? What do you call them ? I don't know , you're telling a story , man , my brain's just farting right now . Like tests kind of thing , and they whoever wins A beep test .

Speaker 1

What's racing ? I mean , I'm just thinking Push-ups , squats .

Speaker 2

So basically , they do like they'll do a thing where they'll go all right , cool this . Challenge Challenges different challenges . That like they'll do a um , a thing where they'll go all right , cool this . This , uh , challenge challenges different challenges . All right , that's the one . Different challenges where they go okay , this week we're doing um a musical and they'll sing and then whoever ? Wins , wins . That week , blah blah . At the end figure out who's the the best drag queen .

Speaker 2

They win that's drag race now in saying that , not cars , we have to have to make you actually sit and watch one episode just because you need to be able to experience it . So essentially what happens is there's because there's been 14 , 14 seasons . There have been queens that are well known , that have become world famous . All over the world , people love them , right . So I nearly peed myself with excitement when I realized that this year the um main act is alyssa edwards , who is one of the most world-renowned drag queens that there is right so excited . I was like , oh my god , this is amazing . So years past have been like ricky lee have come . It's been like they'll go up there , they'll be there , they have a set for a half an hour or 45 minutes sing their songs probably awesome . I was . When I say I was so excited you have a question .

Speaker 1

I do ricky lee , australian idol , yes drag queen .

Speaker 2

No , this is like previous years . Oh , main um event was , I think , last year .

Speaker 1

The year before was ricky lee because I was sitting there thinking ricky lee fucking , if that's a drag queen , that's very fucking convincing no , but you would be surprised .

Speaker 2

There are some very fucking convincing drag queens oh man , you would never ever . If you saw them walking , you'd be like fuck , she's hot .

Speaker 1

I've been to Bangkok and I've been to Phuket . I promise .

Speaker 2

You See , the thing is this might be problematic in saying , but when it comes to Asian people , I feel like you go okay , cool , you know what Asian people are like , very petite and you'd be like oh okay , cool , they're quite feminine anyway . Yeah , quite feminine , yeah , quite feminine guys I'm talking about . You will see a chick and go oh , she's a chick , she's hot . Yeah , look at what's a cool , um , australian one . What's her name ?

Speaker 2

a courtney act oh yeah , I've seen that one yeah , yeah , she's a beautiful , she makes a beautiful woman and she's a good looking dude . Yeah , yeah , but okay , fair enough . We all know that she's a beautiful , she makes a beautiful woman and she's a good looking dude . Yeah , yeah , but okay , fair enough . We all know that she's a drag queen . But my point is right cool , best drag queen in the world coming to perth . Awesome , happy days . I was so excited , nice . I'm gonna say a few things that a lot of people are not going to be happy with .

Speaker 1

Oh , snap , sit down get drinks , no pads .

Speaker 2

I feel like people are going to come for me with this one but one . Everybody Pert's drag scene . I feel like when we have good drag queens , they tend to move to Eastern states . So I feel like I'm not coming for any of the drag queens . I think drag is amazing and it's fucking hard to do . So I'm not coming for any drag queens , but I'd say we don't have a huge drag scene where there's lots of drag queens . We've got like four or five and they're good . Yeah , yeah .

Speaker 2

But my problem is I always compare them to like Drag Race and I'm like , oh , why aren't they doing the flips and the this and that and the kaka ? You have no idea what that means , but don't worry , no , one day you're watching , you'll find out . So anyway , they come on , they're doing okay , alicia edwards comes out . Everyone goes crazy . It's like the michael jackson of drag coming out and we are like everyone's like oh , my god , this I don't want to say this bitch , but this bitch walks out and the energy was very much . I've come to perth they paid me to come here I just gotta show myself , do a few of these twirls and walk up and down the stage she's saying . She's not saying .

Speaker 2

Well , she was my uh , what's called a lip saying to one song . What stopped our person that was there to be the um mc kind of thing . Yeah , um , hosting was asking questions , talking . It was very boring . For like 10 minutes she goes . Okay , cool , we're gonna get a listen to one more song . She does another song , does a little bit more , and then she's gone . It was all up . So a song lasts how long ? Four or five minutes , yeah , about that . So four or five minutes , two songs , 10 minutes disappears . I'm like , bruh , I came here for this . This is one of the reasons why I was like , oh my god , I'm so excited , this , I'll pay my money , was very upset with that , I'm not going to lie . And this was at the court , right , this was at the court . This was outside . This is in the . You know how they close the street . They have a street party . Anyway , I was very upset with that . But I feel like someone is going to come for me in the comments . They probably will , and come for me , I'm ready .

Speaker 1

Unless Edward's just sitting there going . I wasn't lip syncing , I was actually singing .

Speaker 2

You know what ?

Speaker 1

Come for me , and it was 11 minutes , not 10 .

Speaker 2

I stay ready , because if you stay ready , you ain't need to get ready .

Speaker 1

What does that even mean ?

Speaker 2

I feel like you know what , even though you have been my friend for so many years , I really need to teach you about more gay things . Yes , you really do need to learn . That's why we're doing a podcast about it . Okay , listen we're going to sit down and I'm going to fucking make you , I'm going to make you binge watch Drag Race .

Speaker 1

Oh , this is giving me like Gin Monday vibes all over again . Yes , absolutely .

Speaker 2

And also I'll do it with a bottle of gin for sure . Sure , wonderful you can get . You can get a shit face .

Speaker 1

It's fine , but we're doing it you're gonna be sitting there like testing me on the whole thing all the way through , aren't you ?

Speaker 2

and then the other thing we're gonna do is I'm gonna make you I'm going to make you watch a marvel movie oh yeah I don't know . No , fuck you , you're watching a marvel movie .

Speaker 1

I don't care what you say , I mean I suppose it's up , we can kill two birds with one stone . I mean guys dressing up in fucking weird silly suits fuck , same same right .

Speaker 2

Stop talking about marvel , that I'll you know what . I'm probably more of a marvel fan than I am a drag drag race fan .

Speaker 1

So I'll come for you I reckon they should make a marvel with a drag chip there has to be a drag .

Speaker 2

I wonder if there's a drag superhero out there . If there isn't , we need to make one . What would you call it , though ? Did you say it ? Yeah , wow .

Speaker 1

What would you call them ?

Speaker 2

They Fuck 2024 is so confusing , bro , you're so gonna get cancelled .

Speaker 1

I definitely am gonna get cancelled .

Speaker 2

I don't know , mr , mr , mr Mrs , I've got a joke for you . How does a non-binary person murder someone .

Speaker 1

How does a non-binary person murder someone ? I ?

Speaker 2

don't know , they slash them . Oh , this is fucking funny , that is so good Come on .

Speaker 1

That is good . Listen . Fuck you , I thought it was good . It might work its way into my repertoire of dad jokes . Fuck you , I thought it was good . It might work it's way into my repertoire of dad jokes .

Speaker 2

Fuck you . Your dad jokes are terrible . That was way better . My dad jokes are great . They are fucking terrible . I'm sorry .

Speaker 1

You raised your eyebrow at the last one . That is a reaction .

Speaker 2

No , that was a visceral reaction . I was like , oh god , there was one more thing I wanted to talk about and , believe it or not , my laptop just died . Of course it has . But there was one more thing that I wanted to talk about . What was it ? I just feel like pride this year was . It was , oh , that's the thing .

Perth Pride and Growing Conservatism

Speaker 2

Pride , hmm , hmm , sucks in perth in comparison to mardi gras in sydney . Right yeah , mardi gras in sydney , the whole fucking city stops for weeks . They have you drive down the streets . They have banners everywhere . The city of sydney like goes all out . They have gays . Have you seen the gays ? Gays atm gays .

Speaker 1

So they'll have like put in your pin .

Speaker 2

And gay people ? I fucking wish that was what happened . Um what would you like , little cocks come ?

Speaker 1

out . You can order like what size you want and color .

Speaker 2

That would be fucking perfect . So they'll have like an atm and they'll have like a . They've made like a um . What I assume is like a fiberglass structure that they'll push over it and it'll be like a disco ball and it will be themed and it's like so it's a gay tm , but it looks cool .

Speaker 1

So this is what I was just imagining when you said fiberglass structure . It's just like shaped like an asshole and put your hand in you fucking pull a water cash out I wish that's how it really works .

Speaker 2

You're interesting , interesting , get some money , so they have like they do so much and obviously their budget is crazy . Right , I mean Sydney , yeah , perth . This is the reason why I hardly ever go to the parades , because I know I should be supposed when I should be there a hundred percent . But I just get this thing . It's like you go there and it's just like . But I just get this thing . It's like you go there and it's just like so and there's no people , because no one knows it's fucking Pride , because it doesn't get advertised .

Speaker 1

Yeah , like I seen a few advertisements on buses , but that that was done by Pride WA itself . It wasn't done by the city of Perth , exactly .

Speaker 2

So it doesn't get . It doesn't get like , does it even get broadcast ? I have no fucking clue , but all I know is is that , in comparison to the Eastern States or the rest of the fucking world , ours is so it's a little bit embarrassing that , and I'm not saying the people doing it . What I'm saying is like , for example , there was one TikTok I saw where it did coals .

Speaker 2

Now I saw when I went to Pride Mardi Gras last year , the Coles one was huge . They had this huge , big float . It was like literally 100 people . Coles is in the shopping center , it's in the shopping center so they do .

Speaker 2

Like different companies that will have their own floats going through the Coles one for Perth , bruh , it was embarrassing . There was not that many people , it was basically a truck with the cold side on it . It was not a fucking float and it was embarrassing . But like perth , why , please , perth , put us on the map . I do something .

Speaker 1

This is why people think that we live in a fucking farm here in wa , so like yes , I get it , the city of perth city city perth is pretty fucking boring though , but like they .

Speaker 2

They're boring , but they'll put money towards fucking afl and sports and shit . Yeah , because they got a satisfied rednecks , exactly , and fuck us gay people . That's fine , who needs us ? But the thing is this that brings some . So sydney pride , sydney madrigal , the fucking world comes to sydney and they spend money if we did shit like that and actually put something into it , make it a big thing . People come to wa , because no one fucking comes to wa .

Speaker 2

Yeah you get people actually coming here spending money , but no , because it's the gays see question though do you think that perth is getting more and more conservative ? Apps are fucking ludely .

Speaker 1

We , we are moving backwards we're not moving forward , we totally are fucking , that's sad yeah , cause like Even Remember the first Halloween that we went to . What was that Like six or so Years ?

Speaker 2

ago now , holy shit , was that long ago ? Yeah , fucking hell .

Speaker 1

We're getting old , bro , cause that was like Well before the birth of my son .

Speaker 2

Yes .

Speaker 1

And he's like four now . Oh shit , it was that long ago so yeah . But like that night that , that first halloween that we went to , we , there was a giant gay angel in a silver thong and silver wings and giant fucking 26 inch . Fuck me boots , right I love come . Fuck-me boots . Right I love cum . Fuck-me boots . Amazing , perfect outfit . Right . There were heaps of different people all in various stage of slutty dress . Let's call it Yep , yep , yep , right , halloween . This year 50% of the crowd were wearing Fucking hoodies and baseball caps . That is not okay .

Speaker 2

But hold on , I have . I put it to you Sir .

Speaker 1

Fuck , here we are . What did I just ?

Speaker 2

This is my thing . Again , as I've said , your people .

Speaker 1

Are starting to go .

Speaker 2

More to these places .

Speaker 1

Yeah .

Speaker 2

And the thing is , the gays and the queers are the ones that are flamboyant and will go all out there . It's a fucking gay Christmas to gay people . Halloween is to gay people right , yeah , absolutely so with all these straight people going there , it's like , oh well , I'm not gonna get dressed up I'm just gonna wear my hoodie .

Speaker 1

So this is what's happening so you're getting it's getting literally straight washed , yeah , and that I think , yeah , that's . That's problematic . I think it's really starting to become this weird little . Everybody's looks as though they're non-sexual , asexual . Yes , girls aren't wearing anything that's even appealing anymore . Guys are even worse like fuck . I seen a dude baggy jeans , hoodie and a baseball cap on halloween night .

Speaker 2

You woke up to him saying bro , who you supposed to be ?

Speaker 1

like . Honestly , what the fuck are people doing ?

Speaker 2

that's the one night of the year where you get to go as fucking crazy as you want absolutely , and dude turns out in the same thing that he woke up in , of course .

Speaker 1

What , what , why are people doing that ? I'm getting ?

Speaker 2

more conservative . 100 but I think it's just perth oh , fuck , yeah , I think it's because again that mentality , that perth is just this perth . People want to be stuck in the bubble . I mean , when we had COVID and we were cut off from the rest of the world , everyone fucking loved it . Because it's like we are in our bubble and no one can come in and that's it .

Speaker 2

Perth . People love to be in their own little bubbles and not move outside of that . So , because we're safe with what we know and it's like , oh no , no , the gays , they're taking over . Calm , the fuck down . There's like 12 of us . Yeah , what are ? We gonna take over and , to be honest , ain't nobody interested in your ass not with your stupid little mustache and your fucking dirty little hoodie probably don't wash your ass either .

Speaker 1

It's gay to wash your ass . It's , it is , yeah , it is gay to wash your ass .

Speaker 2

Did I tell you this ? Yeah , you did . I didn't tell you that ? Right when I saw the other tiktok , the one guy said it's gay , he doesn't wash his ass because it's gay I don't do hygiene because I don't do hygiene because me touching my asshole , that is so messed up , but then . But then do you wipe your ass ? Then ? That's the question Does he wipe his ass ? He's touching his asshole ? No , it's gay , can't do that , that's gross . You know , fucking . Your people are so gross , I'm sorry .

Speaker 1

There are some really fucked up , fucked up people . There's some very fucked up individuals . But you know right , I'm going to get all my history shit out on you right right now . Pride is only a thing because of fucked up people , fucked up straight people , you know that right , okay so I'm very interested to hear this .

Speaker 2

I want to see what you know about about pride and its origins , so post world war ii .

Speaker 1

Basically you got world war ii . You got all of these people going from little country towns into this whole new metropolis . You know , mixing things started coming out right yep , but when world war ii finished , everybody went back and things started getting really really restrictive . 1950s , 1960s especially for gay people got really really fucking restrictive in the US , right ? Yes , and then you are correct so far 1969 . 1969 .

Speaker 2

What date ? Hold on what date ?

Speaker 1

June 28th .

Speaker 2

I am surprised you know that June 28th and it went to July .

Speaker 1

What else is ?

Speaker 2

really important . On June 28th Jordan .

Speaker 1

I don't know 20 years later . Oh , is this like your birthday .

Speaker 2

Yes , it is . The only reason I actually know that Stonewall happened on that day Is because it's June 28th .

Speaker 1

Why didn't they ?

Speaker 2

call you Stonewall Nagel instead , because they didn't fucking know shit about Stonewall In Africa at the time . I should be called Stone . That would have been a cool name . Is that because you're hard ? Not right now . That's going to be my nickname from now on . Stop it , jordan , I'm not looking at the back of your leg .

Speaker 1

Is that because you're hard ?

Speaker 2

Not right now . That's going to be my nickname from now on . Stop it , jordan . I'm not looking at the back of your knee , it's all stone now . But if you pick your , arms up .

Speaker 1

it is you don't want that . It's been a bit hot and sweaty today .

Speaker 2

Who said I don't like that ? I literally told you I like sweaty Gross , you no Gross , You're funny . But back to it . 28th of June 1969 .

Speaker 1

Stonewall Inn Big riots . Yes , the New York Police Department basically went into the only gay club in New York . Yes , fucked everybody up . Um arrested everybody , arrested everybody and they were doing like they're arresting people for like cross-dressing and stuff like that . Yes , and they were segregating them and basically people started getting really , really pissed off but do you know why they got so pissed off ?

Speaker 2

do you know what they did ? So the police basically published all those people that got arrested names in the paper , yeah , which obviously outed all of these gay men that were in the closet , some of them probably married , some of them with partners published all their names , and that's why everyone went crazy . And then I'm so glad there's finally something . I know what history yay , it's the only thing on this podcast I've ever been like yeah , I know this , I studied it .

Speaker 2

Yes , and then in 1970 was the first pride march . Yeah , because it was on the anniversary of stonewall yeah , and it was never meant to be .

Speaker 1

It was never a celebration .

Speaker 2

It wasn't a celebration , it was a . It was a march to say this is what happened to us a year ago . It's fucked up . Things need to change yeah and it was out of the police being fucking idiots and assholes because back then was still illegal to be gay . Yeah , people lost their jobs . Yeah , people lost their livelihoods because they printed these people's names in the newspapers and then from there . But this is what pisses me off when you get straight people going , oh , we're straight pride . Straight pride is every fucking day you fucking numpty .

Speaker 1

I can't remember the last time that police barged into a nightclub and prosecuted somebody for being straight exactly so this is the whole idea .

Speaker 2

Is that also them not understanding that , yes , pride has become about a celebration , but its origins , where it came from , was a direct um , what's the word I'm looking for ? I'll cry to the fact that we were being ostracized because of our sexuality , absolutely beaten and put into jail . Yeah , that's where it comes from and that's why you don't have straight pride , because you ain't never needed to have done that to you . You , I get very upset about it , so it's that whole era there was so much oppression .

Speaker 1

There was so much hate and negativity and fear , yep and that 50s , 60s . It eased up a bit in the 70s . Aids came around in the 80s and it all clamped back down again In like 90s . It slowly started to come back out and eventually now we're at this like amazing place . We could do more , but we're at this amazing place For all the people

Tattoos, Drag, and Pride Fun

Speaker 1

out there .

Speaker 2

If you want to learn about the AIDS epidemic in the 80s and 90s and be entertained as fuck , please watch something called oh god . It literally . There's something wrong with me . My brain is just farting right now .

Speaker 1

It's fucked um it's all like unicorn cum .

Speaker 2

Fuck you , maybe it is uh , pose , pose , p-o-s-e pose . It is one of the greatest queer shows out there and it focuses all on how drag started , first of all back in the day in the ball era of New York If you don't know what that is , you'll find out when you watch it . And AIDS crisis of the 80s and 90s it is so fucking interesting , it is amazing . Watch it . It's so good . Pose and 90s it is so fucking interesting , it is amazing . Watch it . It's so good . Pose .

Speaker 2

I have to get onto that I say you watch that first , because then , when I make you watch drag race , you're gonna understand where drag race comes from oh , okay , I'll sit there and have like this whole history , so you know what you're gonna have gay gay history month . Okay , I'm gonna make jordan's gay history month , where he learns a lot see , and we will have an exam at the end of it . I know you love studying , so yeah , see , there's a challenge .

Speaker 1

I'm pretty good at exams . Did I tell you what I got for my final sexology exam ? No , you did not . 97.5% . Of course you did , you boy .

Speaker 2

Oh motherfucker .

Speaker 1

Look at that , the round of applause for Jordan . I just want to know where I lost the . What is it ? 2.5% .

Speaker 2

I'm glad you could figure out that it was 2.5% . I'm so proud of you Maybe .

Speaker 1

I misspelled my name or something like that , jonathan .

Speaker 2

Okay , there's one last thing I want to talk about about pride . Yeah , go . I want to ask you a question , you a question . Is it a good idea to have a tattoo booth in a nightclub on pride ? Is it ? Is it a good idea to have one of those in a ?

Speaker 1

nightclub . Um thoughts go . They had a tattoo booth at halloween and I think , with yours and eyes propensity for getting sharp needles shoved into our skin with colorful ink , it's probably not a great idea for either of us to see this Look .

Speaker 2

I'm just going to say I wasn't there with you , but I was there with my other cousin that we've got tattoos together and we see it , and she's like , oh , you should get a tattoo . I'm like , ok , cool , let's do it . She's like no , like , oh , you should get a tattoo . I'm like , okay , cool , let's do it . She's like , no , I dare you to get one . I'm like , okay , I'll do it if you do it . And then I go to the place . I was like , okay , cool , smart enough , they don't let you choose what you want . They have a like a board with like 36 different ones you can get , which is good because you're not going to be something stupid , because you're you're drunk and you're like oh , put here .

Speaker 2

But no , fuck me in the ear . I don't fucking know what people putting out there but where the fuck that came from . But also , at the same time , means that there's gonna be millions of people out there with the exact same tattoo of you .

Speaker 1

But that's fine um , I'm just imagining me going into one of those things and saying give me me the name Tabitha .

Speaker 2

I don't know what the fuck she is , but I want Tabitha , I want it across my chest . And Tabitha walks by and says , oh my God , is that for me ? So I might have gotten a tattoo , maybe , okay , what did you get ? So I might have gotten something .

Speaker 1

Fortunately they're very small . The laptop's getting put down .

Speaker 2

Unfortunately it's small , but oh fuck , I'm not going to show you this . I might have to take my pants off .

Speaker 1

We're talking about the tattoo now , right , maybe ?

Speaker 2

I have to take my pants off people .

Speaker 1

Oh my God , here we go . What even is that ? Oh , it's okay .

Speaker 2

so it is a tiny little red outline of teeth biting a lip yeah , so it's a pair of lips showing teeth and the teeth biting the side of a lip . So yeah , so it's a pair of lips showing teeth and the teeth biting the side of a lip . So , like , mmm , one of those Doesn't look like that right now because it's got a little bit of scabs on it because it's healing . But yeah , I was going to get an eggplant and at the last minute I was like Shaman , that's fucking dumb , don't do that . And then I saw that and I was like , ooh , lips , you should have got an eggplant going into the lips . See , I didn't think of that . That would have been funny .

Speaker 1

That's why you need your mate round , exactly , or you should have got your little stick man that's on your ass with like a little pride flag waving in his hand .

Speaker 2

For those people that don't know what he's talking about .

Speaker 1

Jordan , I did actually go and get tattoos together On our asses tattoos together- on our asses , on our asses , so that when we stand together , it still makes no fucking sense to anybody . Funny thing about this all is is that when was the last time that we both had our kicks off in front of other people or even together ? Never , fucking never . Why did we have the idea ?

Speaker 2

Look , I knew I always wanted a dumb tattoo , and that was the one that I was like . You know what ? Jordan and I gotta get a dumb tattoo . But look people , if you wanna see our tattoos , if we can get , you know , like , I don't know like 5000 likes on On this episode .

Speaker 1

Comment . Maybe we will . Maybe we will put a picture of our asses on .

Speaker 2

Maybe we will put a picture of our asses on the ground and we'll probably get flagged straight away .

Speaker 1

Yeah , Well , you're not allowed to show butt cheeks on there anymore .

Speaker 2

Well , we'll put half our butt cheeks and two separate butt cheeks One on , you know half and half . Listen with my ass at the moment you need a wide angle lens to get both of them in anyway . So I mean Look . I say if people like this , and you know , and we get I don't know like 5,000 likes on Instagram or something like that .

Speaker 1

I can imagine there's just going to be like three people just liking it over and over and over and over again , creating all these like just randomly , I got to see their asses .

Speaker 2

Over and over and over again , he's creating all these like just randomly , I gotta see their asses .

Speaker 2

So , guys , I'm saying you know , if you , if we get um 5,000 likes on Instagram , tiktok , anywhere , I'll get my ass out . I'll get my ass out too , and you can see it . I need to shave With your hairy fucking ass , absolutely , I certainly need to clean it , because that's not gay . That's , that's not gay . It's not gay . If we're going to do it for the gram , okay , it's fine . It's not gay for the gram . It's not gay for the gram . Well , that's me done for Pride . I'll wind up .

Speaker 1

Yeah , I like that . Well done , I think you know , we talked about your outfit . We slated the city of Perth .

Speaker 2

Yes exactly the drag queens that someone's going to come for me for definitely , um , but yeah that all . All in all , it was a good night . I didn't tell you that I got absolutely shit-faced and I haven't been drunk in years , that was fine , well listen , I would be disappointed if you didn't get shit-faced , this is true . So I did get quite shit-faced and I enjoyed it and I paid for it . Being a 41 year old male , oh yeah that lasts for like three weeks .

Speaker 1

Yeah , the next day wasn't fun .

Speaker 2

Next week , yeah , but um , I enjoyed myself and it was worth it and when I woke up the next morning I was like why is ? My the top of my leg sore and I looked down I was like , oh fuck , I forgot about it because you met up with that guy with the teeth again .

Speaker 1

Is that what that's all about ? Is that like a warning Don't use your teeth on my cock .

Speaker 2

To remind me that there's some dudes out there that don't know what the fuck they're doing and no teeth .

Speaker 1

Don't use teeth on my cock . I've got a symbol there in case you can't fucking read . See that .

Speaker 2

And it's in red because it's their stop , oh my God . I've got a symbol there in case you can't fucking read . See that . And it's in red because it says stop , oh my god .
