Quickie: OnlyFans Isn’t What You Think: Real Talk with Amber Riivers
Ever wondered what really happens behind an OnlyFans paywall? Meet Amber Rivers - not just an adult content creator, but a wife, mother, and entrepreneur who's pulling back the curtain on one of the internet's most misunderstood platforms.
What begins as a candid conversation about her unexpected entry into OnlyFans quickly evolves into a fascinating exploration of modern sexuality, digital relationships, and self-discovery. Amber reveals how her husband actually encouraged her to try the platform, initially as "just for fun," before it transformed into a full-time career offering greater flexibility and family time than her previous job ever could. Her journey shatters the stereotypical narrative about why people create adult content.
Perhaps most surprising is Amber's revelation about what subscribers truly seek. "Most of them are just lonely and just want to chat," she explains, highlighting how emotional connection often trumps explicit content. This human element distinguishes OnlyFans from traditional pornography sites, creating space for authentic interaction in an increasingly disconnected world. Meanwhile, her candid breakdown of daily life as a creator exposes the exhausting reality behind the "easy money" myth - constant content creation, relentless social media management, and the precarious dance with platform algorithms that can destroy a livelihood overnight.
But the most powerful moment comes when discussing empowerment. "Before I did this, I was so shy, hated my body. Now I'm so much more confident," Amber shares, challenging listeners to reconsider simplistic judgments about adult content creation. Through establishing clear boundaries with both subscribers and her supportive husband, she's crafted a life that works for her family while embracing her sexuality on her own terms.
Ready to question your assumptions about adult content creators? This eye-opening conversation might just change how you think about the real humans behind the paywall. Subscribe, share your thoughts, and join us as we continue exploring sexuality with curiosity and compassion rather than judgment.

All right, folks, buckle up. Today's Super Sex Quickie is taking a spicy little detour. Normally I'm here dishing out the nerdy, research-heavy deep dives on sex relationships and all the messy bits in between, but this time I'm handing the mic over to someone who's actually in the game. Meet Amber Rivers OnlyFans creator, sexual entrepreneur and all-round badass. She is giving us an unfiltered look behind the paywall. We talk about how she got into it spoiler, not the story you're expecting how she carved out her niche in a very crowded, very naked market and what life actually looks like as an OnlyFans creator in 2025.
Speaker 1:We're talking daily routines boundaries, burnout, weird requests, money highs, emotional lows, the whole damn picture and, most importantly, we dig into how she feels about it the identity shifts, the empowerment, the stigma, the contradictions. It's raw, real and way more than just post-nudes get paid. This is a pretty damn great episode, not because we solved any grand mysteries, but because it's honest, and that is what Supersex is all about. Let's get into it. Hey guys, today on the pod we have the amazing Amber Rivers. She's an OnlyFans content creator and she's here to blow the lid on everything creating for adult content. Amber, how are you?
Speaker 2:Hello, I'm very good, thank you.
Speaker 1:That's good. Lovely to have you on the pod as well.
Speaker 2:I know I've been listening to a few of your podcasts. They're very good. By the way, I've been very excited to come on.
Speaker 1:Oh lovely, thank you. So getting into OnlyFans content creation, that's not something that people sort of get up on one morning and just think you know, here I go, this is what I want to do with my life. How did you get into it?
Speaker 2:so it was my husband that got me interested, kept showing me news articles of all these people are making this much money on only fan, and at the time I had no no idea what it even was. Um, we put it on the, we just left it. It was what it was. And then we got married and then ended up just setting one up mainly for fun, to start with, like, right, we're married, let's go for it, let's try something different. Um, I think it was because we were both very stuck in our jobs. We needed something that worked on the kids or hours. Um, I think that's one one of the reasons that pushed us to try something else. But at the start it was just for fun that's.
Speaker 1:It's very interesting because it's like a sort of exploration, a little bit of fun for you to you know just be able to step outside that mundane box right yeah, absolutely so at what point did you actually sit there and think, holy hell, this is like going to be a full-time job for me whilst I was at work on nights.
Speaker 2:Actually, I was missing my husband um trying to do work whilst I was working because the OnlyFans side I was getting loads of messages, people wanting content and I was like I'm at work, I can't. So I was. I was sort of stuck between a rock and a hard place, like if I go full-time OnlyFans, I would have to quit my main full-time job. Um well, yeah, so I've got busy, made the decision to quit and just focus on anything, and it picked up.
Speaker 1:Well, here we are I want to know, though, this milf angle that you've got going was that intentional, or was that just something that organically happened?
Speaker 2:organically happened. So I'm a milf anyway. Um, the main question are you? You a MILF? Yeah, I am. And then it always fascinated me, like everyone's like pink towards MILFs and yeah, it is something that's always fascinated me, but I just went with it. Yeah, I'm a MILF, let's go, let's do it, let's make that my niche now.
Speaker 1:I wonder what do you think it is, though, that guys are loving so much about that whole milf category? Because, like, since american pie, it's become this massive thing, isn't it?
Speaker 2:yes, and you know.
Speaker 1:I wonder what your insight is into that I don't think there's one.
Speaker 2:There's one thing that makes people lean towards milf or like them more than other creators. I think it's like we have a lot of life skills that a lot of people look for. Like, if they're going to subscribe to your OnlyFans, they want someone safe, nurturing and all that to talk to. I guess that's one angle you could throw at it. Experience it's not necessarily age, I don't think, because I'm quite young anyway. Yeah, we're classed as a male. Um well, yeah, I think it's sort of to do a lot to do with like life skills, like being able to be caring and have the kink side and the experience to go with it yeah, yeah, that's pretty interesting because it's it's one of those things that I'm starting to like really dig into a lot.
Speaker 1:More is um, a lot of guys want that emotional connection when they're you know, when they're in a real sexy sort of intimate moments and it makes complete sense that you know the whole milf angle is is going there because you do get that caring, that nurturing, but at the same time you're getting that raw sexuality that's coming through, so you know that's I get it and I've always been me in my content.
Speaker 2:I don't change from me being me now to on my adult sites and adult content, so I feel like being yourself and pushing that across to your audience. Really it's like a connection, I think.
Speaker 1:Yeah, and do you think that's what guys are wanting a bit more of that, just connection, and that's why they go to OnlyFans instead of the PornHub.
Speaker 2:Yeah, I think that's the only difference. Really, I'd say, unless they there after something in particular that they can't find online, the only reason that they would want to go is for the connection to talk to someone. I get a lot of people I just want to chat. They don't actually want to say anything, they just come to come to chat with me that's.
Speaker 1:That's really cool because there's this, this whole narrative like I'm a, I'm a sex educator and I work with teens and there's this whole narrative that keeps coming back to me. It's like, you know, everybody keeps telling us that porn's not real. But you know, I'm on OnlyFans and those people seem pretty real, you know. And that's exactly what we're talking about. We're connecting with a real person.
Speaker 2:If anything, I'd say only fans is more real than than porn because you're getting the creative behind the content. You're not just watching that and not knowing what goes on behind the scenes.
Speaker 1:Where you're getting behind the scenes, you're getting the real life humor behind the content so, with that, though, do you feel, do you feel ever boxed in by that, the whole MILF sort of category, or is it just something that you're just like? You know what cool? I'm happy to embrace it.
Speaker 2:I've always been happy to embrace it. Yeah, run with it. Yeah, I think it's always been sort of in my niche. I've got so many niches I'm like everything, do a bit of everything. But yeah, no, never felt boxed in with being tagged a mil.
Speaker 1:No, All right. Talking about niches, is there something that's just downright your favorite thing to get into?
Speaker 2:I think I'm going to say no. I am into a lot of things. I dabble in a bit of everything really.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:If someone wants rock play, p play general beautiful agony, which just my face making the motion rather than any of my other body, that's fine. But the sensual side I'm into everything amazing.
Speaker 1:So is there anything within your work that you absolutely love?
Speaker 2:I love getting to know the people that come to me. Again, the whole connection thing. I don't have to be doing anything in particular to enjoy what I'm doing. Some people can just come chat to me every day and be like this is my job. I love this. I love just getting to know people. Yeah, I do get into depth with my fans sometimes about why they come to me. Most of them are just lonely and just want to chat, you know.
Speaker 1:All I'm hearing in the back of my head here is that there's a lot of guys who are going to be listening to this and they're going to be saying stuff like well, how does that work with your husband? Is that crossing the boundary? Is you know how does the husband feel about that, because obviously you're in part of that relationship? Is that something that's like a boundary that you guys have negotiated, talked about, or how does that work?
Speaker 2:yeah, we've talked a lot about boundaries. We have our own boundaries. We play in person. We have boundaries when we have our own boundaries. We play in person. We have boundaries when we go to swingers clubs and stuff. But no, in general he's quite happy for me to do what I do. I will. If he wants to see some messages, I'll show him. Do you know what I mean? But we are very open with each other. Don't keep anything secret from him. It's all like he's downstairs now Loves it. So, yeah, he works with me, takes pictures and stuff.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so that transparency obviously works within a relationship you know.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it has to be a good way to work yeah, it helps to keep that trust alive, I suppose. Yeah.
Speaker 1:All right. I want to know, though, what is a day in the life of an OnlyFans creator look like, because you know you've got a husband, kids how does all of this work?
Speaker 2:My life's very hectic. Everyone that knows me now will be laughing because they know how sporadic and random I am. But generally, get up, get the kids ready, they go to school. I work between school hours. I either cam or do content for OnlyFans, tiktoks and pictures and stuff photo sets Could be any of those things yeah, and then pick them up from school, be a mum for a little bit, spend time with them, which is nice, because I never got to do that. I did this job, it was just working. Put them to bed, get up and go to work. Didn't get to take them to school or anything. So yeah, and then they go to bed and I will carry on messaging, making more content. It's very constant. You've got to do what you can when you can in any spare time.
Speaker 1:Is that not exhausting though?
Speaker 2:Very exhausting yeah.
Speaker 1:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Everyone says oh well, your job's easy. Okay, try it for a week and come back to me.
Speaker 1:I think that's the thing that's happening at the moment is there's a lot of people out there that are looking around and going you know what? I can just jump on OnlyFans and I can make a shit ton of money and it's going to be easy because all I'm going to be doing is enjoying myself.
Speaker 2:But it seems like there's a lot more that goes into behind the scenes than you know, just getting more hours than I've ever done before, mentally exhausted sometimes, I just don't have the brain power to fly to dms or anything like that. So, but if you're not on social media and not constantly putting yourself out there, you don't make the money. So, exactly again, you stop between a rock and a hard place because you can't have a day off, because then your socials are going to go. You're going to have to start all again. Algorithms.
Speaker 1:That, yeah, so it is like that constant treadmill, though, isn't it?
Speaker 1:you've got to be on that, and you've got to be feeding that machine in order to keep that money rolling in, and if you're not doing that, then you're going to go hungry. Essentially on on terms of socials, though, what's the biggest one that you're? You're attracting people from like. Obviously, only fans has got its own sort of page and whatnot, but are you doing it through twitter, instagram, like, and if, because I know you, cause I know you're on, I know you're on Instagram, but how's that working out for you? Because that is bloody hard to talk about anything to do with sexuality.
Speaker 2:It's so hard. So I'm on every, every social media, um, twitter, instagram, tiktok. I've got two accounts on every site. Three, three Instagrams. I've got more now because I'm setting more stuff up, but, yeah, everywhere, copper, blue Sky, threads Everywhere, everywhere you can think of. You've got to constantly be pushing yourself out Reddit Reddit's another big one but sometimes you do just have to leave a few and concentrate on your main ones. Main ones for me are Instagram and TikTok.
Speaker 1:I do the best on, which is interesting because they're the two that are mainly like really, really heavily censored.
Speaker 2:I thought like x would have been huge, but no, no, people are big on x. I just, I'm just not a massive fan of how it works. I'm still not um, instagram tiktok. Yeah, I'm still yeah, but because I do, I do videos just being myself. I don't necessarily have to be just in lingerie or like, do teasers for my content to come across, because it's me as a personality that's out of myself, I guess and how much.
Speaker 1:How much of your day is actually spent between, like planning actually in front of the cam and then sort of editing everything and you know, figuring out what the hell you're going to be shooting and choosing outfits and all that sort of stuff like, if you have to sort of figure it out on a day-to-day basis, like, how much time are you actually spending doing all that background work instead of just on cam?
Speaker 2:every time I'm not on cam live, I will be doing all the other bits related to yeah. So every every week I will be sat in bed till one o'clock in the morning, sometimes replying to messages posted on my Instagram. Things like that every every waking hour pretty much, unless I put my phone down. Say, that's enough. I'm having my tea, having a break?
Speaker 1:yeah, it's constant that would make um, that would make like family holidays and all that sort of stuff pretty much impossible, right I don't know my two family holidays every year.
Speaker 2:I mean I do make time for family, obviously. Um, do put my phone aside when the kids are home. I'll only do it when they're either not not here out at family members' houses or asleep. I went there at school. But yeah, family holidays are nice because you can work from anywhere, from any country, most countries. But yeah, I do bits on holiday. It's not as constant.
Speaker 1:Just to keep that treadmill going, I suppose, and do you get a lot of other people approaching you to do cross collab work or not? Or is that just something that like?
Speaker 2:Like collaboration. Yeah, doing like collaborations with other creators. Yeah, all the time. Yeah, I have done quite a few.
Speaker 1:How do you find that that goes with husband dynamics? That's all good there as well.
Speaker 2:Yeah, yeah, again, we talk about it for a go top boundaries, what I'm going to be doing.
Speaker 1:I'll be very open, honest about what I'm going to do is there something out there, oh like within the sphere of your work, that absolutely just grinds you like you're absolutely hating?
Speaker 2:I'm celeste a dick pics fuck. Yes or just people being rude when they don't know me, like I will get so much hate. Oh, eat a meal. Like you don't know me, I eat like a pig, like, is it people thinking they know you when they don't have a clue? That really winds me up. Um, but yeah, on, solicitor, dick pics are just.
Speaker 1:They drive me insane and are guys sending those a lot?
Speaker 2:I'd say on average about two a day guys just really don't get it, do they?
Speaker 1:no, no all right, what? What's something that you'd wish that people would sort of understand about what you do, though, like, obviously there's this because OnlyFans is so new. There's a lot of misunderstanding around that from the general population. But like if you had to sit there and say to one person this is my job and this is what you're just not getting, what would that be?
Speaker 2:one. I'm not a robot. Some people know I'm in the okay uk, know my time zone and still message me in the morning expecting um, and I'm like I'm sleeping, and they'll keep messaging me. Question mark, question mark, question mark. Um, we're not robots, we are human beings behind the screen, even if they're joining my OnlyFans to watch videos. Some people just don't understand that. They just speak to you like you're a robot, like you're not a human, like you're not a human, like that does be so, so rude. And you wouldn't walk up to someone in the shop and say some of the things that I get sent at the end. You know.
Speaker 1:Pretty horrible, though, when you think about it. These people are actually coming to your site or coming to your social media pages to say that sort of thing.
Speaker 2:They're stepping outside of their way to do that because they, I think because as well they paid to come into your site, they have authorization just to speak to you like that, not?
Speaker 1:not the way it works yeah, and that's that's a real problem with a lot of sex workers. That's that's what a lot of people do get. Is that? You know it's it's almost like they've got ownership over you because they pay you a service. You know a service fee. But you know it's like having a painter and decorator into your house. You know, just because you're paying them a fee, it doesn't mean that you own them.
Speaker 1:It doesn't mean that you can't yeah you can't talk like, be polite and be real with them because, yeah, I mean, yeah, everybody's human, I suppose. But that makes me think. Then, do you feel empowered by what you're doing? Because you know a lot? A lot of people will sit there and go, oh, you know sex. They can't be empowered by what's going on. They're only doing it for one reason or another. But does this empower you? Do you feel empowered by this?
Speaker 2:Yes, a thousand percent. People will sit there and tell me to go and get a real job. I wasn't happy in my real job before I did this. I'm way happier now, working for myself, financially free, taking time off when I need it, working my own hours. Yes, it's empowering, as what? Mentally as well. Like before I did this, I was so shy, hated my body. Now I'm so much more confident, even just in general, talking to people, looking in the mirror, loving I love the body that I'm in at the moment, learning to love yourself. It's a very, very empowering thing to do love that.
Speaker 1:you've said that because we were actually having a chat on the pod yesterday and we were talking about how, when a woman finds her sexuality and she fully moves into that, it's like it's quite pervasive in the rest of her life as well. And that's pretty much exactly what you were just saying, you know it flows into all this different confidence.
Speaker 2:It does, it does.
Speaker 1:All right, I've got a couple of questions to wrap it up, though. We've got a super fan, nick, and he turned around to me today and he said I need a side hustle. How do I get into only fans?
Speaker 2:assuming this is a guy right yeah yeah, don't just I. If I, if I was me four years ago, I'd say do your research before you just jump into it. For me it it worked, but the market's so saturated now you do have to be careful. Get a load of content before you set up your page, look at other creators pages.
Speaker 2:Yeah, make sure you've got at least 100 media on your OnlyFans before. If you set a price at like $10 or something and you've only got one picture on your OnlyFans, they're not going to go. The more media you have on there, the better. Figure out how you're going to do it.
Speaker 1:Do you need to know your niche before you're going in there as well? Like your angle, what you're going for.
Speaker 2:Say only if you already know your niche and know what you want to go into. For me it could have gone anyway, still does, and I'm happy with that. Some people just do feet, you know. I mean some people do giant test content, some people just interesting.
Speaker 1:So you talk about the market being absolutely saturated. There's and again, there's like a lot of young girls at the moment sitting there going oh don't need to study at school, I'll just, I'll just go and do only fans, and that's an easy way to do it. Is it as easy as it, as it sort of gets made out to be, or is it like a real solid grind to to start actually earning money?
Speaker 2:definitely a grind. Yeah, you've got to. Constantly it's, it's constant. You can't just take a few pictures, upload them. I think you're gonna get rich. You know social media is is the grind. You can't put it anywhere else. So that is. That is the only way to get you, get yourself out there.
Speaker 1:Yeah, so you're sort of at the mercy of them and I suppose, like if instagram, you know, bans your content one day, you're? You're pretty much cooked for a little bit, aren't you until? You get that um, yeah, until you get that back it's happened.
Speaker 2:It happened once how?
Speaker 1:so how was that for you then? Was that like completely triggering, because I can imagine it would have been an absolute meltdown. I know that, like we've, we don't have anywhere near as many as you, and you know we've. Uh, yeah, when we get shut down, it's absolutely a pain in the ass yeah, it's awful.
Speaker 2:It's awful. I luckily did get mine back. After about seven months they reinstated it, but, um, yeah, it's soul-destroying. You put so much of your time and hard work into that, even more that you. You will put more time and hard work into your socials than your actual only fans. So to lose that is yeah, it's it's bloody horrendous, isn't it?
Speaker 1:so final, final question or two if you had to use one word or phrase to describe the only fans world from the inside, what would you describe it as?
Speaker 2:one word or phrase. I can't do it on one word. It'll have to be a phrase of many words, empowering. I'm gonna put that in there. Crazy, it's a whole journey, it's a massive journey that's.
Speaker 1:It's pretty cool because it's self-exploration, it's empowerment. There's a there's a lot of stuff that goes in there that people generally wouldn't think somebody who's creating OnlyFans content is getting out of creating. You know, I love that, I love that, and I suppose that's what keeps you going back to that job day in, day out, isn't it?
Speaker 2:Yeah, absolutely I love it, Love it.
Speaker 1:Love what I do. All right, we'll wrap up there, but, amber, thank you so much. You've been wonderful. Yeah, can't wait to get this one out to everyone.
Speaker 2:Thank you very much for having me.
Speaker 1:All right, catch you next time, cheers.
Speaker 2:Thank you, great talking to you, thank you.
Speaker 1:And and that's it for today's Super Sex Quickie. Huge thanks to Amber Rivers for getting real about life on OnlyFans in 2025.
