Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s expression was suggested by a German student of mine today.  The expression is “work around the clock.” One more time—work around the clock. 

Let’s see if you can guess the meaning from these clues: 

• The developers at a tech startup were working around the clock to fix a major bug before launch.
  
  
  
• A student who forgot about her paper wrote like crazy and worked around the clock to finish it. So What do you think this expression means? To work around the clock means to work continuously, day and night, without stopping.
   It usually happens when there’s pressure, a deadline, or a crisis—and people put in nonstop effort, even if they’re tired.
• Examples: “The hospital staff worked around the clock during the pandemic to treat patients.”
  “They were so close to finishing the project, they decided to work around the clock for two days straight.”
  “When the famous singer is preparing for a tour, her team works around the clock—choreographers, costume designers, sound engineers—everyone!”
