Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s word is full of energy and passion: “zealous.”One more time: zealous.
– Think of someone who can’t stop talking about their favorite hobby, staying up late, practicing, and putting all their heart into it. That’s zealous.
 – Imagine a student who studies every single day, not just before exams, because they truly want to succeed. That’s zealous.
 – Or think of the loudest football fans, singing and cheering with all their strength—that’s also zealous.

Zealous means showing great passion, enthusiasm, and dedication for a cause, belief, or activity.

  1. My neighbor is so zealous about gardening that she spends hours every morning planting, watering, and even talking to her flowers.

  2. He’s a zealous gamer, always staying up late to beat the next level.

  3. Malala Yousafzai is a zealous advocate for girls’ education around the world.

  4. Greta Thunberg is known for her zealous fight against climate change, speaking passionately to world leaders.

The word zealous comes from zeal, meaning strong passion. But be careful—when someone is overzealous, it often has a negative meaning: being too extreme or too intense.

Personal Question
So, what about you? Have you ever been zealous about something—so passionate that you gave it all your energy, like a devoted fan or a famous activist?
