Hello and welcome to Daily English! today’s word is powerful, confident, and full of momentum. It’s the word is “bullish.” Once again: bullish.
Can you guess what it means? Let’s try two quick hints: An investor sees prices going up and says, “I’m feeling bullish about the market.” A tech CEO announces a bold new product and tells the media, “We’re bullish about the future.”
So what does bullish mean?: If someone is bullish, it means they are very confident and optimistic about something—especially the future.
In finance, it specifically means they believe prices will rise. But in everyday speech, we use it more broadly to describe someone who is positive, hopeful, and full of belief in success.
Examples: "Investors are bullish on clean energy stocks—they expect prices to keep rising."
"The startup founder was bullish about her app, saying it would change the industry."
"Even after a few setbacks, Sam stayed bullish about his chances of getting into medical school."
"Elon Musk is famously bullish on space travel. He believes we’ll be living on Mars one day."
