Can you guess what it means? Here are two quick hints: Your friend says, “I’m low-key excited about this movie—it looks good, but I’m trying not to get my hopes up.”
Another person says, “We’re having a low-key birthday party this year. Just pizza and a movie at home.”
So what does low key mean? If something is low-key, it means it’s simple, quiet, or not too intense.
 It can describe events, feelings, or even people. Sometimes it means not wanting to draw attention, and other times it means something is done in a chill, relaxed way. It can also be used informally to mean “a little” or “kind of.” For example:
 “I’m low-key tired today.” → “I’m kind of tired.”
