Hello and welcome to Daily English!, and today’s expression is “blow it.” once again: blow it. Can you guess what it means? Let’s look at two clues:

  1. A student studies for weeks, but on the day of the test… he forgets everything. He sighs, “Ugh, I really blew it.” An actor finally gets an audition with a famous director—but arrives late and forgets their lines. They blew it.
  2. What does “Blow It” mean?to “blow it” means to fail badly at something, especially when you had a chance to succeed—but made a mistake or messed it up. It’s informal, and often used when someone is frustrated or disappointed with themselves.

"He had the interview of a lifetime, but he showed up unprepared and blew it."
