This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.

To open up means to start talking honestly about your emotions, experiences, or thoughts, especially things that are private or difficult.
Examples:
1- He never used to talk about his past, but after a few long walks, he started to open up.
2- The documentary was powerful—the actor really opened up about her mental health journey.
Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s phrasal verb is “open up.” Once again—open up.
Let’s see if you can guess what it means from these clues:
- It took weeks, but eventually, Mia opened up to her therapist about how she was really feeling.
Your friend’s been quiet all evening, and you gently say, “Hey, I’m here if you want to open up.”
What do these moments have in common? Exactly—they all involve sharing personal thoughts or feelings.
What does “open up” mean? To open up means to start talking honestly about your emotions, experiences, or thoughts, especially things that are private or difficult.
