Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Jump the gun
means to do something too early — before it’s the right time.
It’s usually used when someone is rushing, getting ahead of themselves, or acting before they have all the information.
Examples:
1- She jumped the gun and bought tickets before checking the dates.
2- He jumped the gun by quitting his job before finding a new one.

Imagine you’re at a race. The runners are waiting… ready… and one of them starts running before the starting gun goes off. Everyone yells, “Hey! He jumped the gun!”
Now imagine someone starts decorating for Christmas in October. Their neighbor walks by and says, “A bit early, huh? Don’t jump the gun!” Or your friend just met someone, and on the second date they say, “I think we’re meant to be. I might delete my dating app.” You might say… “Whoa, don’t jump the gun.” So what does “jump the gun” mean?
