Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Hit a wall
means to reach a point where you can’t continue — usually because you’re tired, out of ideas, or emotionally exhausted.
It’s like running full-speed into an invisible wall that stops you in your tracks.
Examples
1- During the third week of my new job, I hit a wall — the pressure and lack of sleep just got to me.
2- He was trying to stay positive after the breakup, but one night he just hit a wall and couldn’t hold back the tears.
Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s expression is “hit a wall.” One more time—hit a wall. Let’s see if you can guess what it means from these clues:
You’ve been studying all day for an exam. You were focused, you were doing great… and then suddenly your brain just stops working. You stare at the page and nothing makes sense. You’ve hit a wall. Or maybe you’ve been trying to finish a project at work. You had so much energy in the beginning, but now you’re exhausted and stuck. You’ve hit a wall.
So what does “hit a wall” mean? To hit a wall means to reach a point where you can’t continue — usually because you’re tired, out of ideas, or emotionally exhausted.
It’s like running full-speed into an invisible wall that stops you in your tracks.
Examples: “I was writing my thesis for hours, but around midnight I hit a wall and couldn’t type another word.”
“During the third week of my new job, I hit a wall — the pressure and lack of sleep just got to me.”
