Jaded
If you’re jaded, you feel emotionally worn out, pessimistic, or numb, usually because of too many disappointments or repeated negative experiences.
Examples:
1- They loved teaching once, but endless paperwork and low pay left them feeling jaded and defeated.
2- He’s dated so many people who lied or played games that now he’s jaded—he doesn’t even want to try.
Hello and welcome back to Daily English! Today’s word is “jaded.” One more time—jaded.
Let’s see if you can guess what it means from these clues: She used to get so excited about first dates—what to wear, what to say, imagining the possibilities. But now? She scrolls through messages with a tired sigh. Nothing feels new. She’s jaded.
Or imagine a man who once dreamed of changing the world through his work. But after years of office politics, fake smiles, and broken promises—he’s not angry anymore. Just tired. Emotionally worn out. He’s jaded.
So, what does jaded mean? If you’re jaded, you feel emotionally worn out, pessimistic, or numb, usually because of too many disappointments or repeated negative experiences.
Examples:“After years in the industry, she became jaded and stopped believing that anything would really change.”
“He’s dated so many people who lied or played games that now he’s jaded—he doesn’t even want to try.”
They loved teaching once, but endless paperwork and low pay left them feeling jaded and defeated.”
You’ll often hear this word in emotional songs or interviews, when people talk about losing hope or becoming numb after too much disappointment.
It’s not dramatic—it’s quiet pain. The kind that builds slowly over time.
Your Turn! Have you ever felt jaded? Maybe about love, your work, or even just life in general? You can share your stories, feedback, ideas or drop me a message using the gmail address provided
