Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Hello and welcome to Daily English, as it’s the weekend, we learn English through real stories. The full transcript is in the description. today’s story is a strange but true example from British colonial India — a plan that totally boomeranged. What Happened?
In colonial Delhi, the British government was alarmed by the number of venomous snakes, especially cobras. To reduce the danger, they offered a reward for every dead cobra. At first, the plan seemed to work — many people brought in dead cobras and received money. But soon, some clever locals saw an opportunity. They began breeding cobras in their homes just to kill them and collect the reward. When the government realized this, they stopped the program. The breeders, now with no incentive, released the snakes. As a result, there were even more cobras on the streets than before. The snake-control plan completely boomeranged — the solution made the problem worse. Today, this kind of situation is sometimes called The Cobra Effect.
