Daily English Pod
I’m Jale, an English teacher and graduate in Applied Linguistics from Canada. From Monday to Friday, I share short, practical educational podcasts. On Saturdays, you’ll hear an engaging story, and on Sundays, we explore artistic topics. Like a real magazine, these podcasts cover current issues, culture, society, and history in clear, easy-to-understand English. If you’re interested in learning English and understanding the world around you, this podcast is for you. With me, you’ll not only practice English but also gain a broader perspective on the world.

Touch and go
extremely uncertain, risky, or dangerous.
Examples:
1- Apollo 13’s return was touch and go until they splashed down safely.
2- Our football team was losing, then winning — it was touch and go until the final second.
Hello and welcome to Daily English, as it’s the weekend, we learn English through real stories. The full transcript is in the description. Our story is about one of the most dramatic moments in space history: Apollo 13.
What Happened? In 1970, the Apollo 13 spacecraft was on its way to the moon when an oxygen tank suddenly exploded. The crew lost power and oxygen, and their lives were in grave danger. For four tense days, NASA engineers and the astronauts worked together to find a way home. The world watched, unsure if they would survive. Finally, against all odds, the crew made it safely back to Earth. It was a true touch and go situation — every hour could have meant life or death.
Expression of the Day: Touch and Go, one more time: touch and go means:
It’s extremely uncertain, risky, or dangerous.
Examples:
Apollo 13’s return was touch and go until they splashed down safely.
After the accident, the patient’s condition was touch and go for several days.
The business deal was touch and go, but at the last minute, it worked out.
Our football team was losing, then winning — it was touch and go until the final second.
Question for You:
Have you ever been in a touch and go situation — where you weren’t sure what would happen next?
Thanks for joining me on Daily English. Come back tomorrow for another real story — and another word or expression that brings English to life.
