Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Hit home
means to strongly affect someone emotionally because it feels real, relatable, or true to their personal experience.
Examples:
1- Her speech about burnout really hit home — I realized I’ve been ignoring my own limits.
2- When she whispered, “I haven’t felt truly seen in years,” it hit home. I realized how many people live feeling invisible.
Hello and welcome back to Daily English
Today’s expression is one of those moments… when something doesn’t just make sense — it hits you. You feel it. Listen carefully and try to guess the meaning.
•When my friend finally said, “I’m tired of always pretending to be okay,” it stayed with me all day. It… hit home.
• I was watching a video of families finally reuniting after years of immigration struggles, and their tears… hit home for me.
• A student once told me, “Sometimes I don't need perfect grammar. I just need English to say how I truly feel.” That really hit home.
So what does hit home mean? "Hit home" means to strongly affect someone emotionally because it feels real, relatable, or true to their personal experience. It’s what happens when words reach the heart, not just the ears.
Let’s hear more examples
- Her speech about burnout really hit home — I realized I’ve been ignoring my own limits.
- When someone told me, “You don’t have to be ready — you just have to begin,” it hit home.
- When she whispered, “I haven’t felt truly seen in years,” it hit home. I realized how many people live feeling invisible.
Sometimes the most powerful words are not the loud ones. They are the quiet ones that arrive at the right moment, and… hit home.
