Daily English Pod
I’m Jale, an English teacher and graduate in Applied Linguistics from Canada. From Monday to Friday, I share short, practical educational podcasts. On Saturdays, you’ll hear an engaging story, and on Sundays, we explore artistic topics. Like a real magazine, these podcasts cover current issues, culture, society, and history in clear, easy-to-understand English. If you’re interested in learning English and understanding the world around you, this podcast is for you. With me, you’ll not only practice English but also gain a broader perspective on the world.

Don't take it for granted.
means to truly appreciate it — to recognize that it’s valuable, not automatic, and not guaranteed.
Examples
1- Every time someone presses play on this podcast — from a corner of this planet, on a bus, during a walk, or in the middle of a heavy day — that’s something I don’t take for granted. Because with so many voices in the world, you still choose to spend these minutes with me, and that choice and that connection mean a lot.
2- When she understood a sentence in English, she used to struggle with,
She didn’t take it for granted — because every bit of progress is a quiet victory.
Hi everyone, and welcome to a very special episode of Daily English.
Today is our 500th episode, and honestly… that number still surprises me. And if there’s one expression that captures exactly how I feel today, it’s this one.
Our Expression of the day is “I don’t take it for granted.”One more time: “I don’t take it for granted.”
Listen to this: She walked into a room, and someone’s face lit up when they saw her.
It lasted only a second, but she didn’t take it for granted, because being welcomed is one of the quietest forms of love. Now What do you think this expression means?
👉 To “not take something for granted” means to truly appreciate it —
to recognize that it’s valuable, not automatic, and not guaranteed.
It means noticing the good things, and understanding that they didn’t have to be there.
Let’s listen to this example:
Every time someone presses play on this podcast — from a corner of this planet, on a bus, during a walk, or in the middle of a heavy day — that’s something I don’t take for granted. Because with so many voices in the world, you still choose to spend these minutes with me And that choice and that connection means a lot.
When someone sends a simple message like, “Hope you’re doing okay,”
It’s easy to scroll past it. But he didn’t take it for granted, because those tiny moments of care
They are sometimes the quiet reminders we need the most.
When she understood a sentence in English she used to struggle with, she didn’t take it for granted —because every bit of progress is a quiet victory.
So why this expression matters today Five hundred episodes isn’t just a number. It’s a reminder of what we’ve built — of a small community that chooses to return. This lovely connection, this lovely community, is something I never take for granted. Not for a second.
Now your question:What is one thing in your life that you don’t take for granted? It could be a feeling, a person or a thing
And a quick note — some of you have asked about taking lessons with me recently. I’ve added a small Google Form in the description, so if you’re interested, you can fill it out — it just helps me understand your needs, and I’ll get back to you.
Thanks for your presence again and Have a lovely day
