I didn't see that coming
we mean that something surprised us. It was unexpected. We didn’t predict it. It caught us off guard.
Examples:
1- She thought the conversation was just casual. Then suddenly, the other person apologized for something that happened years ago. She listened quietly and thought, “I didn’t see that coming.”
2- He assumed he hadn’t done well in the interview. Days passed with no news. Then an email arrived saying, “We’d like to offer you the position.” He stared at the screen and said, “I didn’t see that coming.”
Hi everyone, and welcome to Daily English. Today’s expression is simple, powerful, and very common in everyday English.
It’s “I didn’t see that coming.”One more time: “I didn’t see that coming.” Listen to this:
She opened her phone expecting a normal message.
Instead, she read words she wasn’t prepared for.
She sat there for a moment and thought,
“I really didn’t see that coming.”
What do you think this expression means?
When we say “I didn’t see that coming,” we mean that something surprised us.
It was unexpected. We didn’t predict it. It caught us off guard.
Let’s listen to some examples: She thought the conversation was just casual. Then suddenly, the other person apologized
