Food for thought

is an idea or comment that makes you think deeply. It’s something worth reflecting on. It doesn’t always change your life.  But it stays in your mind.

1- He read a line in a book: “If it costs your peace, it’s too expensive.”
That was real food for thought.

2- Someone asked, “If you weren’t afraid of failing, what would you try?”
That question stayed with him for days.  Definitely food for thought.

Hi everyone, and welcome to Daily English. Today’s expression is reflective, calm, and meaningful. It’s “food for thought.”

One more time: “food for thought.”

She heard someone say, “The way people treat others when they’re stressed says a lot about them.” She didn’t respond immediately. But she carried that sentence with her all day.
It was food for thought. So what does “food for thought” mean?

“Food for thought” is an idea or comment that makes you think deeply. It’s something worth reflecting on. It doesn’t always change your life.  But it stays in your mind.

Let’s listen to some examples:

He read a line in a book:
“If it costs your peace, it’s too expensive.”
That was real food for thought.

A friend once said,
“The way you speak to yourself matters more than you think.”
She didn’t argue. She just paused.
 Food for thought.

Someone asked,
“If you weren’t afraid of failing, what would you try?”
That question stayed with him for days.  Definitely food for thought.

 Now it’s your turn:
What’s something someone once said that gave you real food for thought?

Thanks for listening to Daily English.
Take a moment to reflect today. See you tomorrow
