Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Let it slide
means to ignore a small mistake or problem, instead of reacting or correcting it.
Examples:
1- In relationships, small misunderstandings happen. Not every moment needs a response. Sometimes, choosing to let it slide can keep things calm.
2- At work, a small mistake might happen. Instead of making it a big issue, someone might decide to let it slide — especially if it doesn’t affect the bigger picture.
Hi everyone, and welcome to Daily English. In our last episode, we talked about “letting things be” — accepting situations without trying to control everything.
Today’s expression is closely related, but a little more social and practical. It’s “let it slide.”
One more time:“let it slide.”
Listen to this: He noticed the mistake. He heard the comment. He could have reacted —
but he paused and decided to let it slide. So what does “let it slide” mean?
To “let something slide” means to ignore a small mistake or problem, instead of reacting or correcting it.
It’s a choice. Not because it doesn’t matter — but because it’s not worth the reaction.
Let’s listen to some examples. In conversations, people don’t always say things perfectly. Sometimes, instead of correcting every small detail, it’s better to let it slide and keep the flow of the conversation.
In relationships, small misunderstandings happen. Not every moment needs a response.
Sometimes, choosing to let it slide can keep things calm.
At work, a small mistake might happen. Instead of making it a big issue, someone might decide to let it slide — especially if it doesn’t affect the bigger picture.
Letting something slide doesn’t mean you don’t care. It means you’re choosing what truly deserves your attention.
Sometimes, peace comes from knowing what to address — and what to simply let pass.
Now it’s your turn: Is there something small in your life that you could choose to let slide?
Thanks for listening to Daily English. Stay calm, stay thoughtful, and see you tomorrow.
