Daily English Pod
Daily English Pod is a space for learning English beyond grammar and textbooks.
During the week, you’ll learn practical vocabulary, expressions, idioms, and real-life English, the language people actually use in everyday conversations, emotions, and work.
On weekends, we slow down. Through ideas from psychology, philosophy, and real human experience, we explore language as a way to better understand life, emotions, identity, and growth.
This podcast is created by Jale, an English teacher with 13 years of teaching experience and a Master’s degree in Applied Linguistics from Canada, who teaches with patience, clarity, and care, and believes learning works best when students feel seen, respected, and safe to think aloud.
The goal is simple but meaningful: to help you understand English deeply, use it confidently, and connect it to your real life. English here is not just a skill. It’s a gentle companion for clearer thinking, honest expression, and deeper human connection.

Carve out time
means to deliberately create time for something in your busy schedule. Not because you suddenly have extra time. But because you intentionally make space for something that matters.
Examples:
1- She always carves out time for her family, no matter how busy she is.
2- I try to carve out time for exercise every week.
Have you ever said: “I really want to read more.” Or: “I wish I had time to exercise.”
Or: “I’d love to learn a new language, but I’m just too busy.” The truth is, most adults don’t have large blocks of free time waiting for them. Life is full.
Work, responsibilities, messages, errands, appointments…The days fill up quickly.
And that’s exactly why today’s expression is so beautiful: “Carve out time.”
Hi everyone, and welcome to Daily English. Today’s expression is practical, meaningful, and extremely useful: “Carve out time.” One more time: Carve out time.
To “carve out time” means to deliberately create time for something in your busy schedule. Not because you suddenly have extra time. But because you intentionally make space for something that matters. Let’s look at a relatable example. Imagine someone says:
“I don’t have an hour to read every day.” That’s understandable. But maybe they can carve out fifteen minutes before bed. Or imagine someone wants to improve their English. Their schedule is busy. They work, study, and take care of other responsibilities.
So they decide to carve out twenty minutes every evening to listen to a podcast. Again: They’re carving out time. This expression is beautiful because it reminds us that meaningful activities rarely happen by accident.
People don’t usually find time. They make time. For example: “I try to carve out time for exercise every week.”
Or: “She always carves out time for her family, no matter how busy she is.”
And this expression says something important about priorities. If we wait until life becomes completely calm and organized, we may wait forever. There will always be another email. Another task. Another responsibility. But many of the things that make life meaningful—
Reading, learning, friendships, rest, hobbies, quiet moments—
often happen because we deliberately carve out a small space for them. Not a perfect space.
Not a huge amount of time.
Just enough.
Now it’s your turn:
What’s one thing you’d like to carve out more time for?
Reading?
Exercise?
Learning a language?
Simply sitting quietly with a cup of coffee? Thanks for being here today. Take care and see you tomorrow
