PLAY LIST
Remember when Wednesdays meant there was a fresh alt-weekly newspaper in the newspaper box on the corner?
In it you found faces you recognized — of your friends and maybe even yourself. Mirror Indy’s new arts and culture newsletter is an ode to that magic, which is why it will hit your mailbox every Wednesday at noon. You can read or listen to it!

Dearest PlayListers,
On Sunday, I finally made it to a Real Life, Revised reading and open mic. This free series at Indiana Humanities has been on my radar for months, and here’s my honest take: If you like readings, you’ll love Real Life, Revised. And if you don’t like readings, you might still like this one.
Each event is edited into a podcast that airs on WQRT. But there’s something magical about being in the room and sharing space with people who have written their fears, their loves, their witnessing of everyday life.
Speaking of fear, love and everyday life; Valentine’s Day is Saturday!
I’m so grateful for parents who teach kids to celebrate all of the loves, not just the romantic kind. Life is hard enough. We don’t need expectations of a cartoon cupid to make it harder.
So, it’s my most sincere hope for all of us to remember this day for what it is: just another 24 hours when we need to be honest with and kind to ourselves.
In this episode:
- Listen as neighbors express their love for food
- A play on Indiana’s history with "practice babies"
- "El Traje Nuevo Del Emperador" at IF Theatre
- REVERB: An actress and loctician turns to rock ‘n’ roll
