PLAY LIST
Remember when Wednesdays meant there was a fresh alt-weekly newspaper in the newspaper box on the corner?
In it you found faces you recognized — of your friends and maybe even yourself. Mirror Indy’s new arts and culture newsletter is an ode to that magic, which is why it will hit your mailbox every Wednesday at noon. You can read or listen to it!

Dearest PlayListers,
I’m a sucker for stories about people finding their way back to creative passions of their youth. A poet who takes up painting. A clerk who joins a rock band. A librarian who makes zines. And, in the wake of the Winter Olympics, literally any adult out there lacing up skates.
Earlier this week, I read about the “Guys and Dolls Sr.” production by Encore: Musical Theatre for Seniors, and my mind keeps resurfacing this quote from Emily Ristine Holloway, the show’s director: “The heart of theater is just storytelling. And who has the most and best stories? The people who have the most years. So when you see them up there, and they’re wiser and they’re older, it’s just really moving.”
Holloway’s got a point, right?
It’s been more than 20 years since I’ve stepped foot on a stage, but this cast had me searching for that nailing a theater audition piece . . . I wonder how they’ll inspire you!
In this episode:
