PLA Podcast Episode 4 (Feat. Michael Prats, MD) - "Why physicians make good birders"

PLA

Dr. Stephanie Costa talks to dr. Michael Prats to explore mindfulness through birding.

Dr. Prats is an Associate Professor and Director of Ultrasound Research in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. He is also creator and producer of the worldwide GEL podcast, which is an acronym that stands for Gathering Evidence from the Literature.

“I feel better after birding, and I think the way that I put that together is when you're out there listening for birds or looking for birds, you are kind of keenly focused on your senses. You're out there trying to just observe and marvel at nature. It can be very peaceful and calming, and I think that is the connection for me, is that I find it as a in a way, to be intentional about doing some of those practices. And giving myself a little extra motivation to do it. It's great.” - Dr. Prats
