Hannah Castillo: Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's episode is another listener request. We all have anxious thoughts sometimes. But at times these thoughts can feel overwhelming and maybe even consuming. So this week's short meditation uses a visualization exercise to encourage you to begin to untangle and maybe even release any anxious thoughts you are experiencing.
Let's get started.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position, honoring whatever feels good for your body today. When you are ready, consider closing your eyes. If this feels safe for you, or maybe just soften your gaze, Let's take an intentional breath here together. Inhale through your nose, feeling your stomach gently rise as you fill your lungs completely. Hold it for a moment and then slowly exhale through your mouth, feeling your stomach gently fall. As you settle into this practice,
Your breath begins to find its own natural rhythm. The gentle rise and fall of your stomach creates soft, steady waves. Feel the weight of your body against the surface beneath you with each breath. Give yourself permission to become more present in this moment.
I invite you to begin to shift your focus to your mind, taking note of any thoughts that may arise, any worries, stress or even anxiety. Instead of pushing these thoughts away, acknowledge them. Consider picturing these thoughts as a web. At first glance, it appears tangled, overwhelming even. But when you look closer, this web appears to be made up of tiny threads, each thread representing a separate thought. Thoughts that have somehow become tangled together.
As you breathe in, visualize the breath as a gentle light, illuminating these tangled threads in your mind. And with the exhale, picture these threads beginning to loosen, starting to untangle. Visualize yourself gently pulling apart the tangled threads as they begin to separate. Use the light from your inhales to guide your hands as they begin to untangle any knots. Focus on one thought at a time, recognizing its presence, untangling it and then letting it go with your exhale.
As the threads begin to separate, feel a sense of calm washing over you. Each untangled thought represents clarity and peace of mind. Allow yourself to embrace this feeling.
Take a couple of rounds of breath here on your own, breathing in this sense of peace, exhaling any lingering tension.
And when you are ready, begin to shift your focus back to the space around you. Take any movements you may need, and slowly, when it feels comfortable for you, open your eyes, feeling lighter, more at ease and ready to return to your day.
