Welcome to the Love Your Calm podcast. Mini meditations to help you slow down and find your balance in this fast-paced world.
Hello and welcome.
This week's meditation focuses on the art of surrender, on learning to let go of control and embrace the flow of life.
Let's get started.
Take a moment to find a comfortable position. You can sit or lie down, whichever allows you to feel most grounded. Take any cues from your body to help you find a position that feels good for you today. If it feels safe for you, gently close your eyes or maybe soften your gaze.
Let's take one intentional breath here together. Inhale a cleansing breath in through your nose, filling your lungs completely. Hold it for a moment and then exhale slowly, releasing any tension or worries. Letting go of the need to control your breath.
As your breath begins to naturally deepen, take note of the steady flow in and out as it settles into its own rhythm. I invite you to bring your attention to the concept of control. Take a moment here to notice any sensations that come up for you with that idea. Maybe you notice a tightness in your shoulders, a clenching in your jaw, or perhaps your mind begins to race a little. Whatever comes up for you, acknowledge these sensations without judgment. They're all a part of your experience.
As you focus on the idea of control, imagine the need for control as a heavy weight, something you've been carrying for far too long. As you continue to breathe, visualize that weight becoming just a bit little, little lighter. And on your next exhale, picture yourself gently releasing it, watching it drift to the ground. Surrender isn't about giving up. It's about trusting the process of life. Consider that for a moment and think about an area where you might be holding on too tightly, perhaps a situation you want to change or an outcome you're worried about.
As you focus on this area, take a deep breath in, inviting in acceptance and openness. Hold it for just a moment and then exhale slowly, letting go of any need to control the outcome. With each round of breath, you begin to feel lighter, more at ease.
Take a couple of rounds of breath here, embracing this feeling of surrender, inviting in the peace and acceptance that comes from trusting your journey.
And when you are ready, begin to bring your awareness back to the space around you. Take any movements you may need, moving at your own pace. When it feels comfortable for you, slowly open your eyes.
