Everyday Ordinary Extraordinary Men

Everyday ordinary extraordinary men: Leroy

Christina Sweeny and Martina Caviezel Episode 17

Meet Leroy Midgley.
Leroy is a healer and massage therapist dedicated to sharing his earth healing touch with people who are ready to restore their wellbeing from within.
After surviving a near-death car accident at age 18, Leroy was told he would suffer with pain for the rest of his life. Refusing to accept the diagnosis set Leroy on a journey of exploring the world of healing and natural therapies, where he was able to make a full recovery.
This inspired Leroy to share what he has learned with people who are also on a healing journey, whether that is physical, mental, emotional or spiritual.
Leroy completed Cert IV in Remedial Massage in 2012 and a Diploma in Remedial Massage in 2014, becoming trained in a wide variety of massage therapies including Kahuna, Craniosacral, trigger point therapy, deep tissue and reflexology. Leroy has also studied mobilization techniques, Chinese cupping and moxibustion and has studied self-development for more than a decade.
Treatments with Leroy facilitate deep healing for his clients as he works with the areas of the body that require healing most. Leroy supports people to deeply unwind and bring back the spark that has been extinguished due to stress and burnout.
Leroy’s love of surfing reflects his affinity with nature, and he aspires to help all his clients return to their natural essence: their true authentic self.

Context:
Most humans have a lot of preconceived notions and stereotypes about gender. Ex: Men are tough, silent, forceful; women are chatty, manipulative, emotional.
In doing that we put people in a box and often forget to see beyond those labels. And if someone is not fitting the mold we might call them tomboy or sissy. Those and similar labels often cause discord.
What would a world look like, where we go beyond our preconceived notions and understand that we are much more than our gender, that we humans are strong and soft and gentle, deep and powerful, tough, fierce and open, that qualities are not specific to a gender, that we all have all qualities available to express? What would a world look like where we all are free to be who we choose to be and express all our emotions?
When we allow ourselves to express the so-called masculine and feminine qualities within ourselves, we set ourselves free. When we allow others to do the same, when we accept all of them, we create synergy, peace and harmony.
