Hey, guys. Welcome back to Reasonably Certain. My name is Ellen. This is episode 31, and today we're going to be talking about how to perfect your personal rebrand. I'm very excited to talk about it, but first, do you think there's a right person? Wrong time? I've been thinking about this, and I don't know, I'm kind of stuck on the idea that it could be good, but maybe. But maybe they're not the right person because I. It wouldn't. They're not the right person, then you know what I mean? If it's not the right time or they're not the right circumstances, then they're not the right person because there's like a million people out there. But, uh, it's so easy to get hung up on, like, the what ifs. M Could m be good. But also I'm making up a lot of information in my head that I do not know. Hmm. Hm. I ve. It's been on my mind. It's been on my minduse I'm very picky, as you guys know, but I just wanted to throw that thought out there right at the beginninguse. What the hell? Is there such thing? Yes, I think there is. But would they really be your person if it was not the right circumstances? I don't know. On one hand, you can make it work if you both really want it, but also, are they the right person if there's no easy way to make it work? Well, I don't say easy, but if you're both not kind of like on the same trajectory, then it's like you're kind of forcing something that's just not. It's just not there. You might want it to be, but it's just not there. Unfortunately, that's been on my mind. Anyways, let's get off of that topic and jump into what I've been up to over the past week. So my last episode, I literally filmed like as soon as I could after I woke up on Sunday and saw that Tik Tok was gone off my phone, even though I thought I was not going toa be part of that issue. But I have a US phone, a US Apple account, and I guess my TikTok account might have something in it that knows that I'm from the U.S. i don't know. So I got banned off of it with everyone else for 14 hours and now it's back and I put that episode up literally as it came back, and I was like, great, that's awesome that I just spent all this time, editing and posting that episode, which I still think is a good episode, because I talk about a lot more than just the TikTok ban in it. But it's like, damn, they couldn't even give us 48 hours after they did all that, like, swindling us with the freaking fake. Like, create a problem and then create the solution to it. Um, like Trump propaganda. That was super annoying. Um, but it's. It's. I've noticed from people also saying, like, they Anecdotal evidence that Tik Tok is not the same since it came back. Um, there's definitely more censorship. And it seems that there's more censorship on Instagram too. It's like all the platforms, although I don't know if you. I don't think you. YouTube has hopped on the censorship train with them. But it seems like the Zuckerberg platforms and TikTok have now been infiltrated with more censorship. Uh, so they're just not feeling quite the same. They're, like, full of political stuff now. And then Zuckerberg pulled back his, like, fact check mechanism. Um, so that's concerning. And, yeah, it's just feeling very dystopian. Um, feeling I've never seen Handmaid's Tale, but feeling very Handmaid's Tale vibes from what I know. I don't know. Uh, yeah, feeling very scary, very uncertain. Even though I live in Spain. Like, I always feel like I have to preface, like, I live in Spain, so I'm not directly affected by it anymore. But I am, though, because my family is still there, all my friends are still there, and not all my friends, but I have a lot of friends and family, obviously, that are still there. And I'm still a United States citizen. So it's not that I'm exempt from this. Like, also the whole world is not exempt from this. Uh, everybody should definitely be concerned. But a heartwarming thing. I saw that, like, apparently Americans are getting censored from, like, other countries, uh, TikToks as well. So it's not as easy to see TikToks from other countries. And apparently other countries have been, like, protesting for the US which is honestly kind of heartwarming. Cause the US like, is usually the butt of the joke for most countries. But it's kind of sweet that they care, uh, about what's going on in the U.S. uh, and that it is affecting the American people in a bad way and also, consequently, is honestly kind of affecting the whole world in a bad way. So, I mean, everyone should be concerned because Like, a lot of times, because of colonialism and what else? And the powers that be. Whatever happens in the US Has a ripple effect on whatever happens in the rest of the world. So. So, yeah, it's a little scary. It's a little scary. I'm not gonna lie. Um, I'm still happy that TikTok is back, but it's. It's very. It just doesn't feel the same. So I still enjoy it, but I don't know. I don't know. It's just. It feels tainted with, like, Trump got his fingers into it. M. Anyway, I finally posted a weight loss update after six months. Oops. I just kept pushing it off on my to do list. I was like, I'll get around to it. I'll get around to it. And then all of a sudden, it'six months later, and I'm like, okay, I should probably post one. Yeah. Because honestly, like I said in my weight loss video, if you saw it, but, uh, it's just not been, like, the top of my priority list in the past six months. Like, I've just had a lot of other things that I've been focused on, and I've been kind of just letting the Wagoi do its job in the background, which has been very good. Uh, very good. But now I'm trying to take it a bit more seriously because kind of tied in with this personal rebrand of sorts. And with my last episode talking about, like, healthy habits for the new year, it kind of all ties together in a way, because in my personal rebrand, I want to be the best version of myself, and that requires me setting goals, and that requires me setting habits to get to those goals. And one of those goals is that I finally want to lose weight and be at, like, whatever I consider my goal weight, which is honestly probably going to change as I continue losing weight, because although I have, like, £175 in my mind, for some reason, it's just a very arbitrary number and has really no meaning or significance to it. So that's just something I have in my mind because I just. I just want to see if I can get there. And for me, that would be a huge feat because I don't think I've been that weight since I was, like, 17. So it's been a while. So that would be great. Uh, yeah, that would be awesome. And so, yeah, that's one of my goals. Hence, I think posting the weight loss updates is helpful for all you guys, because I know you, like, a lot of people, really do um, find them helpful and also helps me because I, it's kind of like my accountability partner, you know what I mean? Uh, so that's kind of part of my personal rebrand in a way, but also just part of like my general life goals. I also this week went to my 8 week piercing revision appointment, which I guess, I don't know, depending on if you get your piercings. Like, I know a lot of people here, like, they'll get piercings on vacation and so they probably never come back for their revision appointment. But I live here, so I was like, yeah, let me just go back in, have her change the posts to shorter posts because the ones on my second holes on my lobes, we're definitely feeling very long now. They're a normal length and they feel much better and much more snug. Uh, my lobes are in a normal length post, but my cartilage, it keeps getting stuck on my hair, which is why I wanted to go get the post shortened. But of course, like, the day before I went into my appointment, I snagged it on my hair again and it got all swollen. So when I went in, she's like, uh, oh, it's kind of swollen. Like, we probably can't switch the post because as soon as I take it out, it might be hard to get it back through. And I was like, dang it. Of course, the day before I go in, I freaking snag it on my hair. That's so annoying. But anyway, so I have like a little band aid on the back of my ear because the back of it keeps coming out and it's like a good quarter inch of the post that sticks out in the back of my ear. And then of course my hair gets snagged on it. And since I have long hair, it's kind of heavy. And if I even just gently pull my finger around my ear to like straighten out my hair and get it behind my ear, it tugs every time and then it just makes it re irritated and re swollen. So I really think it would be better off with a shorter post in it. But it was just kind of bad timing that it got swollen right before my appointment. Um, but with it pushed all the way forward, there's like a quarter inch of post that's just sticking out in the front now. Um, can't wait to switch it to a hoop. But I guess I have to wait six months. So I have to wait another four months ca becausee it's been two. But I also, part of my personal rebrand, want to keep getting More piercings. Every time I go to the tattoo shop now, which I've only been twice because I went for my piercing and then for the revision. But both times I've been like, oh, my God, this. First of all, the piercing shop is stunning. Second of all, when you're there, it's like, oh, this is cool. I need tattoos and piercings now. And I think. I don't know why. I just held off on getting them for a majority of my 20s. Like, I got my finger tattoos, uh, when I was 19. Kind of crazy wild of me. Like, my parents didn't know. They didn't give me permission. Not that they should have had to because I was 19. I can make my own decisions, but in my parents household, it was like, unless you're making your own money, you don't get to make your own decisions. So, uh, even though I was an adult, I did not get to make that decision. So I hid them for a while until they found out eventually and got really mad and whatever. But they're there. I can't take them away. So I was really. I've been super happy with these. Like, I didn't feel the need to get more. I was very happy with just like a cute four little finger tattoos. And then I just only ever had my single lobe piercings and that was it. But, um, I think the reason why I never went out of my way to go get more piercings though, is because I knew I was always having issues with earrings. And honestly, I should have gotten, um, metal tested, like, metal allergy tested way a long time ago. Like 10 years ago. I should have done that because I've been getting allergy tested like, every five to ten years for my, like, my whole life. So I don't know why, like, I don't know why they don't test for metal allergies in the first place. I guess it's not as easy because it's a patch test and you have to, like, book an appointment, put the patches on, keep the patches on for 48 hours, and then make an appointment to come back, you know, two days later so that the doctor can take them off and look at the irritation. So it's a little bit more work than just a prick test, I guess, which is probably why. But it's like, why didn't I ever go get tested? Because it was obvious that I was having issues with earrings. And I've always had issues with earrings. I've almost never had a pair of earrings that has felt good. Except this time when I Went to the piercer and we used titanium for my piercings. I was like oh my God, this is the first time in my life that my ears don't itch and bleed. This is revolutionary. So I talked to her again because I thought, you know, my original piercing appointment, I was likekay let me research. I found out that I was allergic to nickel and I think cobalt. So I was like let me find some earring solutions that should be allergy free. According to all the websites I found like nine 25 sterling silver and rhodium plated things and like 24 karat gold plated silver should be allergy free. And then obviously titanium but titanium is not. Uh, if I'm being picky, it's not the shade of silver that I want. It's almost black. So it looks almost black in my ear and I want like more of the bright shiny silver look. If I'm being picky it would be amazing if I could get titanium with 925 silver plated. I need to look for earrings that do that because that would be the only solution that would work for me because titanium is so far the only option that has not made my ears irritated at all. Not even one little tiny bit. Um, so I found Sif Jacobbs and Maria Black jewelry. They use silver and rhodium and I was like hey, this should hypothetically work but maybe there's still just a trace amount of nickel or I might be slightly allergic to silver and rhodium just enough that it kind of bothers me, but it wouldn't have really shown up on a patch test. I'm not sure which it is. It could be either. And honestly it' I'm probably not going toa ever find out for sure. Um, but I noticed that even though I can still wear the siffiaacobs and Maria Black jewelry, like the earrings that I have, I can still wear them for like a couple days at a time and not have to take them out and they don't bleed, they don't crack, they don't get super itchy. But I do notice after about 24 hours of wearing them that I start to go like this a little bit occasionally throughout the day. And then I catch myself and I'm like hey, I shouldn't be, I shouldn't be itching my ears like that shouldn't be itchy. So I'm like okay, something in those earrings is still irritating me just a little and I shouldn't be irritated when I'm wearing my freaking earrings. So when I went back to my uh, revision appointment this week. I asked my piercer. I was like, hey, I've tried like rhodium and silver and they're still just bothering me and it's driving me nuts. But I want to have earrings in my first hole. Otherwise why do I even have the hole? It's stupid. I need to have an earring in there. So I asked her if I could just get some like titanium hoops because they have, you know, the piercing options, uh, there, like the titanium piercing earrings there. Uh, and so she ah, suggested that I get these little tinanium hoops with like some little rhinestones on the front. And it's great. I've had them in. They don't bother me at all because of course it's titanium. It's amazing. So even though I'm being picky and it's not the exact shade of silver that I like, I would rather have it not itch and actually be worth my money, uh, paying for it. So uh, just FYI, for those of you out there who just never seem to find any earrings, no matter if they say hypoallergenic or whatever, that don't bother you, I think titanium is the only option. Unfortunately, or fortunately. I don't know, I've looked online, it's not that easy. Or maybe I've been looking in the wrong places. But I have not found that many titanium, um, jewelry brands. I don't know why, maybe I need to look a bit harder. But I keep finding 925 sterling silver, gold. But I'm not really into gold right now. Um, but I want titanium with silver on it. So I'll let you guys know. I'm going to start looking for that because that would I think be the only option that would work for me and it would really depend, like it really needs to be like silver alloy'that has zero nickel in it. And I just don't know that any of them guarantee that. U allergies are so annoying. So anyway, I'm loving my piercings but now that I know that I'm allergic to nickel and that titanium is really my only safe option, at least I know that information now. So I feel comfortable pursuing getting more piercings because I love the look of it. I just think I didn't like do it for so long because I was like, oh, I'm always bothered by my earrings. Why would I go get more piercings if I'm just going toa be like irritated and bleeding in even more holes in my ear like that Would have been kind of dumb. So now that I know all this new information, I'm excited, and I want to get more piercings. So I'm thinking I want, like, my thirds on both ears, so that would be an easy next step. And then maybe some more helixes on each ear. Maybe a consh eventually. Uh, and maybe a forward helix, But I think lobes for sure. Like, that's an easy one for me. May be a stacked lobe, depending on how you. You know, how big my lobes are with all the piercings in it. But, yeah, maybe like, three and then a stacked lobe situation. That would be easy. And I don't know. I'd have to be mentally prepared to have cartilage piercings on both sides because I've only ever had this cartilage piercing on the top of my left ear. Done. And, uh, the. The healing process is annoying. I'm not gonna lie. Just me having this band aid and being m. Like, it keeps getting stuck on my hair. I can't sleep on my left side. How do people do that? Like, I, um, think just eventually, when you have a hoop in it makes it so much easier. So maybe maybe, uh, I cool it on the cartilage piercings for now, but maybe I'll go get another lobe. And I've been, like, really loving the idea of another tattoo. So I was like, okay, I kind of like the idea of getting, like, the Barcelona flower tattoo. If you see it, I can put a picture of it on the screen, but it's a very simple design, and I think it's kind of a sweet, cute idea, because I've been living in Barcelona for a while now. It's going to be a very important phase of my life. I think it would be cute to get the flower somewhere on my body. And I was like, oh, where do I get it? Like, maybe, um, I don't know. Like, I've never really been drawn to the idea of having a tattoo on any specific area of my body besides my hands and my arms. I'm open to arms, but for some reason, like, legs, torso, back, neck, none of those are really calling my name. Maybe foot, maybe. But then I'm like, no. If, um, I'm being honest, I like the look of hand tattoos. I don't know. For me, I, for some reason, feel like it's way too much commitment to decide to put a tattoo on my body somewhere. But for some reason, my hands is, like a free. Free for all. I don't know. So I'm, like, planning on getting hand tattoos to Start and then maybe. I really don't know. This would be a big step for meuse. I've just never pictured myself with arm tattoos. But, like, maybe I would do a few arm tattoos in the future, but this. This would be far off. Like, not in the near future. In the near future, I'm much more open to doing hand tattoos, like, on the back of my hand and maybe more like in the side of my fingers. That's. That's something I'm more open to. So I, um, have already drawn up some ideas on my iPad. I literally have Figma on my iPad. I literally zoomed in, traced my hand with my Apple pencil, and then started collecting photos of hand tattoos from Pinterest. And I noticed that almost everyone does. No offense, if you have these. Please, no offense, but everyone has almost the exact same, like, dots, stars, sparkles, and lines on their fingertips or, uh, on the tops of their fingers. And it's just. It seems a bit repetitive. Okay. So I kind of want to do something a little different. I'm sure I'll have a little bit of, like, dots and lines, you knowuse it's. It's simple and it's easy, but I don't want it to be, like, the exact same as everybody else's hand tattoos. It starts to feel kind of like a template that everyone just uses. So I've been trying to be a bit more creative with some ideas. Um, but this is. Tattoos are a big deal. I felt that the ones the in between my fingers were not such a big deal because, like, when my hands are like this, you can't even tell that I have tattoos. So having them on my hand like this would be quite a big step for me. But everyone has tattoos nowadays. It's really not a big deal. And I've been loving the aesthetic of it, and I feel like it's really been kind of balled up into my personal rebrand because I'm like, wait. I've been loving my, like, bleached eyebrows, Smokey eye era. And I feel like that goes very well with, like, more piercings and some hand tattoos. But I need to make sure this isn't just a phase. I need to make sure that this feels, like, right with me. So that's why I'm not. I'm not trying to rush. I just got my piercings eight weeks ago. Like, I can. These are very normal piercings to get as well. Like, this isn't like, whoa, Rare, alternative, crazy like's. But for me, it's like, whoa. Like, you haven't gotten a piercing since you were, like, 18. Whoa. Like, it's kind of crazy. Um, but think. I think I would enjoy some hand tattoos, so we'll see. But that's probably going toa be my next little self modification. And then other than that, I've been working on my personal rebrand. So let's. Let's discuss that part of the episode. The personal rebrand. Uh, so I'm sure a lot of people have been talking about, like, your goals for 2025. Rebrand yourself. Um, transform yourself. This is the year that you're gonna be your best self. But, like, it's kind of fun. It's kind of fun. It doesn't have to be so, like, ugh, I'm so ugly and stupid now. I need to change everything about myself, or otherwise I'm not gonna be happy. That's not the mindset that you need to have, okay? Because trust me, I've been there. I've had that mindset. It's just very negative and sad and depressing and not a great way to go about your personal rebrand. So if you're in that mindset to begin with, maybe this isn't the episode for you, because I only say that because I think you should undo a lot of those negative default thoughts in therapy first, because I think that's, like, a huge piece of the puzzle. And I think that loving yourself and having compassion for yourself should always come first, rather than you can't really hate yourself into change, because you will always hate yourself and, like, be angry and upset with yourself and frustrated with yourself. So you can't really, like, hate yourself and into change. Trust me, I've tried it. I. I did that for, like, the first 26 years of my life. It doesn't work that good. Okay? It doesn't work. It's very depressing. It's very sad. It's very frustrating. So if that's kind of where you're at, I totally get it. I was there. But just giving you a disclaimer that if you're feeling like, oh, I suck, you're having negative thoughts. Like, I can't do anything right. I need to change to be, like, so and so. That's not the goal here. So then I would just say, let's pause and come back in a little bit anyway. But if you feel that you are pursuing a sort of personal rebrand for other reasons, because although you're happy with yourself, you feel maybe at the end of a chapter in your life, per se, or ready for Kind of like the next evolution of your life. That's kind of where I'm at, personally, where I feel I've been a bit stagnant. I've done a lot of things the same. I'm in kind of a lot of different comfort zones that I haven't gotten out of for a while. So I think it's kind of nice to reevaluate. Like, okay, what, have I been doing the same for a very long time? It doesn't mean you have to change stuff all the time. Like, doing stuff the same for a long time is also totally fine. Like, you don't have to keep changing to, like, be evolving, to be, like, growing or whatever. But if you feel like, okay, yeah, wait, I've been doing this the same since, like, 2015, and it feels like only five minutes have gone by, but then you sit and look and you're like, huh, yeah, I've been doing this the same for. Oh, my God, it's been 10 years. What the heck? Where did the time go? That's kind of the thing I'm talking about, where you're like, okay, maybe I can review some parts of my life that have just been kind of, like, on the back burner, haven't been paid attention to for a while, and see if you wanna change it, you don't have to, but it's kind of nice to do, like, a little audit, a life audit, and see what might benefit from a change and see what might benefit from a change in order to align with your goals, like, whatever goals you have for the year. Because I think your personal rebrand can also very much be, like, in tandem with your personal goals and everything. Um, they're. I would say they're separate, but they very much overlap. But, yeah, so I've learned a lot about branding and personal branding from my day job, actually. I never knew really anything about it. I never knew anything about branding, what a brand is, how to brand nothing before a year ago, like, almost exactly a year ago, I learned a lot from Yoli as well. My friend Yoli, if you missed her episode, it's a few episodes back, and she talks about branding ca. Because she is brand strategist. And so I've learned a lot from her and from my day job. And it's kind of interesting that it's like, sometimes I feel like the stars are almost aligning for me to go down a certain path in life. Because it's like, okay, I didn't, like, seek out my day job. You know, a lot of us aren't seeking out our job. We just need a job that fits certain criteria, that gives us money. Like, that's kind of what it is. And you don't really get to be that picky, especially in today's job market, because, um, yeah, it sucks. So you kind of just take what you take and get what you get within reason, but within what fits your criteria and what fits your, you know, salary needs. But. So, yeah, it's not like I was seeking out to work at a graphic design agency, because really, I had. I had zero experience in it before, and I kind of have no idea how I got hired. Like, hallelujah. Thank God. I needed the job, and it fits my lifestyle very well, but I had no experience in it. So I've learned a lot. And it's kind of interesting that it's like, oh, wow. I just happened to get this job and learn a lot about branding, and I also happen to be friends with Yli, who is a brand strategist and knows a lot about branding. So it's like, I learned all this information, like, within the last year, and it's been very helpful in, like, a lot of areas of my life. And I think it's. It's. I want to pass some of that wisdom to you guys. So let's say you're ready. You want to do a little bit of a life audit. Personal rebrand this year, I would suggest. And this is just off the cuff, like, I wrote this down last night as I was kind of thinking, like, where would I. If I had never done it before and didn't know where to start. And also, I would like to point out that this is me just kind of suggesting where to start, because it's hard for me to replicate or to tell you to replicate what I've done personally, because I feel like I've been working on a personal rebrand, like, a bit by bit, um, almost unintentionally. But I've been working on it bit by bit for probably eight years and not even knowing what I was doing, but always like, okay, I think I need to change this, change that, change this, change that. But this year, I'm really like, okay, pause, evaluate, put a plan together, evolve. Kind of like that, where I'm, like, trying to make it a bit more of, like, an actual evolution all in one intentional plan, rather than. For the past eight years, I haven't been knowing what I've been doing, but I've been seeing things that I'm like, okay, I think I like that. I think I like that. I think I like that. And like pulling them all into myself and trying them out and seeing if they fit. Uh, a little success, I would say, because I didn't know what I was doing and I didn't do anything very planned out. It was just kind of like, as I'm going, I see something, I like it, I try it, whatever, which is also totally fine. Like, there's nothing wrong with doing it that way. But I think, you know, now I'm ready that I want to do this a bit more, A bit more intentionally. I don't know how else to say it. Uh, but anyways, I would suggest to make a document. I prefer to do it in Canva. I love Canva. I have a deck in Canva that's called, uh, well, actually I have one that's called 2025 goals. And then I had one that was called Personal Brand. And then I had one that was called Content Strategy. And then I just compiled the Personal strategy and Content Strategy into a new one that's called Content Strategy. Because a lot of my, uh, personal brand is tied up in my presence online. And that's kind of what I'm most interested in perfecting, I suppose, because I want to take my social media a bit more seriously and actually hopefully do it more full time. But in order to get there, I need to gain more traction as far as, like, getting my content out to more people, posting more consistently, knowing what my messaging is, who my audience is, things like that. And in order to do that, I kind of have to figure out what my personal brand is going to be. Um, because everyone that is an influencer online has done some sort of exercise like this, like most of them have, whether they know it or not. And almost every single celebrity has basically a team that's in charge of their personal brand. I like to use Bad Gal as an example because I think she probably had a lot of control of it because she's had the same vibe for a very long time. But there's 100%, like, stylists, managers, makeup, um, artists, like, whoever your team is, they're all helping guide you and, like, create this image that you're known for. So, like, for Bad Yellow, it would be easy to point out, like, she has a very signature style as far as the clothing that she wears. She has a very signature, like, hair look because she typically wears blonde wigs. Um, and she also has a very signature makeup look. So you can expect to see her in some variation of that clothing, makeup and hair pretty much all the time. So it becomes, like, a very visual signifier, like, oh, yeah, bad ga. And so when you see that, it's, like, very immediate that you're like, oh, yeah, bad gal. And it's very recognizable, and then it becomes familiar and very likable over time. Um, so that's why they say a lot of women, like, when they get into show business or something, that they suggest that they do something kind of very stark with their hair. Like, maybe you do a very interesting haircut, or you pick a very striking hair color for your color palette. Um, like, they get full, like, color analysis done, make sure that they're dressing in their color palette. Um, making sure that they're having kind of, like, a signature style, that they're known for everything to make you as, like, recognizable and memorable as possible, because you have to stick out and, like, garner a dedicated community and following from the masses of attention and people online and try to keep, like, a shred of attention from your target audience. That's kind of the goal of this all. That's my goal because I want to grow on my social platforms, so I need to know who I'm targeting and have a recognizable image online. That's the goal of my personal rebrand. But obviously, everybody who's watching or not everybody who's watching this is watching this for the purpose of having an online presence. Maybe you just want to have a bit of a personal rebrand for your personal, regular, everyday life, and you just want to feel a little good and maybe feel a bit better when you're taking photos and just have a little bit of new spice for life. And I think that's amazing as well. So I think that these steps can still help whether you want to do it just, like, for your personal life or for your presence online. But like I said, I combined both of those documents into one content strategy document in canva, which is just a presentation deck. I prefer to work in a presentation. And whether you prefer to write in a notebook or your deck online or whatever, like, just start somewhere and write down things about yourself. So, like I said, is this a rebrand for your job, for social media, for your hobby, for your personal life? Like, what is the reason for your rebranding and doing this, like, little life audit? And then I would ask yourself, what do you like about yourself now and your aesthetic now? And, like, kind of, what do you want to keep and what are you happy with? And then what do you not like about your aesthetic and what you're doing now? Like, what would you like to change about it. What would you like to improve or make it different? And then what styles or aesthetics are you drawn to? Like, do you find yourself even just subconsciously, um, drawn to a certain style or aesthetic or even a certain influencer or celebrity that can help narrow down, kind of, like, the vibe that you're into, which one feels most authentic to you? Just those questions can take a long time to answer because you might write it down quick and just be like, okay, yeah, that's it. But then you think about it again, and you're like, well, well, well. For me, I love so many different, uh, aesthetics and so many styles that it's really hard for me to nail down. And for me, that's been my issue. For example, what do I want to change about my branding online and my personal brand online? Well, if my goal is to garner more of a following and get a little bit more attention on my platform, I need to figure out why that's not working. And I think from what I've noticed is, although I post pretty consistently, it fuels a bit random. So I need to simplify what I'm posting and have a bit more of a streamlined, recognizable look to the content that I post. So if we use the bad Gale example again, it's not that I need to have a signature hairstyle and a signature makeup look and a signature outfit all the time. That's not something that I have to have in order to make my rebrand successful. But I need to identify, like, what do I want to be known for? What value am I providing my audience? Um, what do they see when they come to my page? What do I want them to see when they come to my page? What do I want people to think of when they think of me? Um, what is something easy that I can do that feels authentic to me, that also will help people recognize me when they scroll past a video of mine? Like, is it something like a hook that I start the video with? Is. Is it my makeup look? Is it my hair? Is it the place that I film in my apartment? Like, for example, I have this one corner that is. I've found, is the only corner that really works for me to film in. So it's like, are you known for always filming in the same spot with the same lighting, with the same hook in the beginning? Do you have, like, a. A series that you're working on? Do you have a catchphrase that people know you for? Do you have, like, a certain format of video that you're known for? Like, that is the Stuff that I'm working on. And it's taken a long time to figure it out because I. Like I said, my issue is that I've been fairly random and sporadic and spontaneous in posting my content, which works pretty decently for TikTok because it's constantly feeding your content to a brand new audience. But I struggle on Instagram because I just have not defined how to grow on Instagram and I honestlyave it gave up on it for a long time. So now I'm like, okay, if I really want to be successful, I do to need to work on my Instagram a bit more and have like more of a proper presence there. And that requires me to define what type of content in the format that I want to post and what the look and the vibe is that people get when they come to my page. So then that I'm going on a little bit of a tangent here, but I'll get back to the notes and how you should start defining your rebrand. But I pulled up like 150 different influencers on Instagram that are in my same niche and I put them all into a spreadsheet and I defined what their niches are by like, most obvious to least obvious. So like everyone has about three to four niches. I notice the most because of what I want to focus on. Like there's a million influencers with a million different niches, but the influencers that I was mainly focusing on are either fashion or makeup influencers. And a lot of them overlap. But a lot of them were like either fashion, lifestyle, beauty or like makeup, um, lifestyle fashion. So it'usually like either they have a primary focus on fashion and they might include a little bit of like lifestyle and beauty, or their primary focus is makeup and they might include like just here and there, like uh, a fashion post or a fashion reel. But it's mostly focused on makeup. So those were like the two trends I noticed. And then like they usually have a signature style of content that they post and they have a very signature look. So I was like, okay, those are the three things I need to work on. That's what I'm going to start defining. Figure out what feels authentic to myself. Something that I can do long term that's not going to burn me out, that's going to feel authentic for a long time and I'm not going to feel like I need to switch again in three months. And I, uh, feel like it doesn't feel right to me. So just all of that has taken me weeks of like very consistent Work like whenever I have free time outside of my regular job, that's what I'm working on. And from my regular job, I know from us working on rebrands for clients that a rebrand for like a company, for example, so a bit different than a personal rebrand. But just so you know, a rebrand for a company can take like six months to a year. So don't feel rushed into choosing like a bunch of new big decisions for your life. Because companies, although it's a bigger scale and it has a lot more money tied to it, they literally take like six months minimum to figure out their rebrand. Because you can't keep doing a rebrand over and over again for a company. Obviously it's different for your personal rebrand. Who care? Who cares? You can change your aesthetic every day if you want. But for a company, for example, they have to make sure it hits right. Because you need a brand and a logo to be recognizable for a long time, longer than you think, for it to become familiar and like likable to the audience. So just that change can cause a huge rift and it takes a long time to settle and become like familiar and recognizable and like, chill again. So when companies do rebrands, they have to really make sure they get it right. Or it could be kind of a catastrophe because, like, you don't see companies changing their logos like once a year. That would be kind of insane. So, like, you probably don't even realize that it takes like three or four years for a logo to become more recognizable. And I noticed this even with much more small scale things. Like, I think about how I was just thinking about this, this weekend, how I feel a lot of things are new and they're actually not new at all in my mind. They feel new, though. Like the prime drink with I think that Logan, Paul and KSI made together, prime, to me still feels like it just came out like last year. It feels super new to me. Like, oh yeah, that's that brand new YouTuber drink. Guess how long prime has been around. Prime has been out since January 4, 2022. It's been out for three years and it feels like it just came out a year ago. And I'm like, oh, that brand new drink, it's been out for three years. That's a long time. And I mean, everyone, you know, the perception of the brand is still subjective to everyone that perceives it. But I think a lot of people would agree with me and be like, oh yeah, that new YouTubeer drink, it's been out for three years. So that's a good example. Also, I think of, um, the Do We Know Them Podcast with Jesse and Lilly. I love watching their podcast. I've watched it since I literally think I caught on and saw it promoted the first episode. And so the first episode of the Do We Know Them Podcast came out on July 10, 2022. I remember specifically watching this and being like, oh, my God, I'm so excited for this podcast. This is going to be so much fun. I love their. I love both of them and I love the vibe of their podcast. I have been watching it literally every single episode. I never miss an episode for almost three years and it still feels like a brand new podcast to me. I'm like, oh, that's the newest podcast. I've been watching the Do We Know Them podcast, the brand new podcast. It's almost three years old. Like, so it's just hard to really understand, like, the time it takes for something to feel really established. And I have to remind myself, like, these examples. Otherwise I get really antsy and I feel like, oh, my God, why aren't things like, I've done so much work? Like, why isn't it taking effect? And like, why am I not seeing the fruits of all my labor of being consistent? It's because, like, for prime and for Do We Know Them? Just those two examples I can think of off the top of my head. It's been basically three years of them being extremely consistent with promotion. And I mean, prime is a drink, but obviously they promote it everywhere. They get it out to influencers, they put it in storors, like, everywhere. It's in Spain, like the prime drink is in Spain. And I still feel like it's new and it's been three years. So just remember that. I think it's a very, very crucial thing to remember because even if you put in a solid six months, which is like so much work, it might still feel like it just got developed yesterday to people. Like, for example, I don't take it, um, personally if people don't listen to my podcast. Even close friends of mine, because we're all busy, we all have things to do. I'm not going toa, like, get all bent out of shape if somebody hasn't watched my podcast. I never talk about it with people. I never ask. I don't want to know, like, la, la. I just post it and forget and I'm like, la, la, la. Okay, Because I just don't want to know if people have watched it or not because, like, whether I Know they watch it or not is not going to really help me feel better about it. It's. I'm posting it anyway. I'm happy if people watch it. If they don't watch it, I get it. Like, everyone's busy, and I think of that same thing. The Do We Know Them Podcast is two and a half years old, and it still feels brand new. And so I know that if I feel that way about the new We Know Them podcast people are going to feel the same way about mine. And my podcast has only been out for six months. So, again, like my example, I just said, like, even if you give it a solid to six months, people probably still have in the back of their head, like, maybe they do want to support you, but they're like, oh, yeah, that new podcast my friend is making, I'll get around to watching it. I'll get around to it. Yeah, I want to. I want to. I really do. Um, but I will. And it might take them another year to finally sit down and watch it. Like, I don't know, it's something that it's not personal. Like, people want to support, but sometimes it just feels new, and they're like, oh, yeah, it's still brand new. It's still brand new. And in their mind, it still feels like a week old. And then all of a sudden a year goes by and they're like, whoa, oh, my God, where the time go. So it's kind of that kind of vibe where it's like people just. It's. People are busy. They don't realize how new or old things are. Because in their mind, it probably always feels a certain way. And it really kind of matters the feeling of it, rather than how long it's literally been out. Because prime feels new. Do we know them? Feels new. Whatever. You get the point. Keeping that in mind, when you're writing down these little notes that you're still working on. Um, like I said, think about celebrities or content creators or brands that resonate with you. Try to figure out why. Really ask yourself why. And this just asking why might take a while. Start a Pinterest board. Watch some YouTube videos on rebranding. Cause there's obviously going to be a lot more people out there on YouTube and whatever, that I even watch myself. But there's, like, literal YouTubers that their entire YouTube channel is just dedicated to rebranding. So if you really want to dive in and you really want to get into the thick of it, there's people out there that just give you the nitty gritty on, like, exactly how to do it. So if you really want to get into it, I would start watching some of those people, um, and just get excited about it. It's not supposed to be a chore. It's not supposed to be daunting. Like, it's supposed to be fun. I love it. Even though I'm like, oh, I've been like, I pulled 150 influencers and I was, like, analyzing them on a spreadsheet. I find that fun. You don't have to do that. That's something I just completely decided to do on my own without seeing anything online about doing that. It's just that I wanted to compare content examples and strategies of a bunch of influencers that I handpicked in my niche. Some of them that I already knew, some of them that I've never seen before. And I wanted to compare them on a giant scale. But I have not been able to find a tool that does that, that you don't have to pay a ton of money to use. And I was like, girl, I'm not paying a bunch of money just to use it for five minutes. I just did it myself. And I think that that's better, because I don't think that there is a tool that does exactly what I wanted it to do, because a lot of the data that I was looking for is very subjective. Like, the niches that someone posts in, like, maybe AI could figure that out, but I think it's still pretty subjective based on what you see and the vibe and the aesthetic of someone's profile when you just give a scroll on their feed. So I don't know that there's a tool out there that can really do that, at least in the way that I was looking for. So I just did it manually, and I enjoy it, so I didn't mind doing that. But you don't. Again, there's, like, so many strategies to how to do this. And again, it really depends on if you're doing this to, like, rebrand yourself online on your social platforms, or if you're just doing this for, like, a little cheeky personal rebrand. And then again, I said that this overlaps very heavily with your goals. And then you need to decide, like, what habits that you need to do to achieve those goals to get closer to this final ideal brand image in your head. If I could just give a summary of my personal brand and what I've been working on, kind of tied in with the piercings and the tattoos, I'm like, wait a second. Maybe this feels kind of authentic to me. And I've been blocking myself from getting it done because it feels, like, wrong or bad or that I'll be in trouble for doing it because of how I grew up. And it's like, who cares? Like, if you like it and you have thought about it and you're not doing it too impulsively, who cares? Like, do it. So I'm like, okay, I think I'm really resonating with the more piercings look. I'm really resonating with the hand tattoos look. So I'm really putting a lot of time into thinking about that and, like, drawing out my hand tattoos, thinking about it, looking at them. I'm going to probably take at least three or four more months just to think about the hand tattoos and what I would even want them to look like because I don't want to be too impulsive because, like, uh, a brand hand tattoos are stuck. Okay? They're there. Unless I want to go get laser tattoo removal. And I really don't want to ever have to do that. So I really want to think about it and make sure that I'm sure before I go get tattoos. And with my personal brand, I've been spending so much time analyzing other people's content because it's like, I have a really easy time viewing other people's content, seeing their blind spots, seeing where they can improve, seeing their vibe. But for some reason, when I look at my own platforms and my own content, I have such a blind spot. I have a terrible time figuring out what I want to be known for. And I've had these eras, especially in the last year as I've been trying to, like, really be consistent with posting. Like, I had kind of a, like, Barcelona influencer moment, and then I had kind of like a, I don't know, like, outfit influencer moment, fashion influencer moment, which I still have. But as I've done all this research for the past couple of weeks, you also have to keep in mind what is realistic for you. And for me, it's not really realistic to go take a fashion outfit photo every day, photo shoot in the street and post it every day. I don't have time to do that. I don't have a friend or someone who can meet me every day to do that. I'm not going to pay for someone to come and be my personal assistant to take photos of me every day. I love the look of them on other people's platforms. And honestly, a lot of them probably have a roommate or a partner. Who does their photos for them. Like they're not paying someone every day to take a photo of them. They also have more money to buy more clothes. And I don't really want to be buying a bunch of clothes just to go take photos on them. So I was like, okay. Although I love the vibe of that, I don't think that's in my future because I don't have the time to dedicate to that. And I don't have that many different variations of clothes to keep putting on and taking photos in the street every day to have like a cool streetwear, cool outfit moment. I love how it looks on other people and I love their content. But for me, with my day job and everything else I have going on, just not really realistic to like get all dressed up and go do a street photo shoot every day. Okay, so what's more realistic for me? Well, I didn't really want to be a makeup influencer. I was trying to stay away from that. But people always ask me about my makeup. People like my makeup. I like doing makeup. I'm good at filming my makeup because that's something I've been doing for a long time. So it'like it's very much in my wheelhouse and it's something that people ask me about. Is it my favorite thing to do all the time? No, not really. But is it something that I can consistently do and that I know how to do well and that people like? Yes. So just those three factors alone make it it more plausible for me to be successful at posting consistently and having like a known vibe on my page. So my idea is that I'm gonna be doing like majority makeup, geared content, some fashion, because I still do like taking outfit photos outside, but it's like not something that I have time to do every day. What I do have time to do every day is makeup. And I have time to film in my house, so I have time to put my makeup on because I'm going to do that regardless. As long as I'm doing that, I might as well kill two birds with one stone and film it. And I have my little filming corner. I have my lights, I have my camera. I have all the tools to be able to do that type of content and I have the knowledge and whatever. So it's like kind of a no brainer that I should just do that. And I still do enjoy it. It's just that I was trying to distance myself from it for so long and I'm not really sure why. Um, but it's like, right in front of me. So it's like, okay, just do that. Maybe in the future you can pivot a little bit, but, like, do what works, as long as you enjoy it and don't try to force too much that doesn't feel that it's gonna work. Because you have to remember, like, whatever new vibe that you decide has to feel authentic and something you can do consistently or otherwise. It's kind of like, why bother? Because you can, you know, you can try some super cool aesthetic for a little bit, but if you don't have any way to kind of, like, reasonably maintain it, it's not going to stick. So you need something, something that feels authentic and consistent. And so that's why I'm kind of leaning a bit more towards makeup again. So these are all things I've been working on. And also within my branding deck, I've gone so deep into something, uh, like, I've done my own color analysis on myself. I've done my own brand colors, I've done my own fonts. I've done my own, um, like, aest for Instagram. I have, like, a bunch of palettes of, like, photos and content, examples of what I want to do and what I want to be known for. So I'm essentially becoming like, my own creative design branding team for myself to create my new online Persona, uh, that I want to be known for, which is a lot of work and a lot of decisions. And I think I avoided it for so long because I have so many interests, and what I've had to learn over the past few weeks is just because I can do something online and just because I know about stuff and I like to share information. So just because I like a bunch of things and because I know about a lot of things and because I can share a lot of things doesn't mean I should because it becomes extremely random. People are seeing you for, like, one type of content that they might like, and then they get to your page and they see it something else, and then they feel a bit confused or like they don't really know what to expect from you next. So there's not as much push for them to wantn follow you. Whereas if you have a pretty consistent vibe, they know what they can expect from you, they like your vibe, they like your aesthetic, then they're more likely to follow you because they know what to expect. But if I'm posting one day about, like, Barcelona food recommendations, and then the next day about, like, my favorite makeup products, uh, of 2024, and then the next day about, like, oh, what did I learn in therapy in 2023? And then the next day about, like, how I do my hair and, uh, whatever. Some of those things can work together. But if it's always something random, that's just like a thought that came across my head one day and I just post it to see what sticks. Like, I think that's fine in the very beginning when you're just trying to see what you like and what sticks and what you think will work. But I've been doing this for so long now that it's like, girl, obviously it's not working and I need to narrow it down because just because I know a lot about Barcelona doesn't mean that I want to be known as a Barcelona influencer. I don't. I do not want to be a Barcelona influencer. So it's like, okay, then stop posting so much about Barcelona because then you're going to be known as a Barcelona influencer and that's not what you want. You can add them in very sporadically, but you don't want your page to be filled with Barcelona content, so don't post it. Same with mental health content. I can talk about mental health maybe in a makeup video, and maybe that's like a topic I talk about while I'm doing my makeup. But if I'm just putting out like a random mental health video in between, like a bunch of makeup videos, it's not really going toa resonate with the audience that. Well, at least in the beginning, I think when you have hundreds of thousands or millions of followers, which I don't really want that many. Like, I just want enough to be successful. I'm not trying to be like, uh, getting up there so high. But for example, when you have a lot more followers, you have, I think, the privilege to post a bit more randomly because people really know you, but in the beginning they don't really know you. So they're like, okay, why are you talking about this and then that and then this and then that and it's like, quite random. So I've been stuck in this. Like, just because I have an idea for a video means I should post it, because I must have to post something all the time. No, it's better to post a little bit less frequently and stay within your niche. And your niche doesn't have to be so specific. Like, mine is going to be like makeup, hair, fashion within that niche. As long as I'm making a makeup, hair or fashion post, I can bring in other elements of My interests if I want. But it has to be under this, um, umbrella of like make a pair of fashion. That's just what I've decided for myself. But that's just one example. So like, I can still talk about maybe Barcelona once in a while. If I want to talk about like Barcelona makeup trends or like how I would do my makeup for living in Barcelona. That's something I can do that's like under the makeup umbrella or hair, like how I would do my hair for a photo shoot. Because I also really like photography. This is the outfit that I'm putting together for a photo shoot today. Kind of like that. Like my top three topics can include other topics, but it has to kind of be within this umbrella of makeup haent fashion. Otherwise if I'm just posting extremely random topics all the time, it's just gonna be really hard for people to get like, get a vibe check on what'm, what I'm about and what to expect from me. And it's just not a great way to grow an audience fast because trust me, I've been doing the extremely random, like, kind of quirky, random diary post type content for like eight years. And maybe it works for some people, but it has not gotten me super far. So I hope that was helpful. I rambled quite a lot because I think a lot of it is just like understanding what your end goal is, what the reason is behind your personal rebrand, what vibe you like, why you like it, asking yourself a lot of why questions, and then also just looking at your life now and kind of figuring out like, what do I want to change about this? What do I not like about it? What do I like about it? And honestly, just that reflection period will take a while. Like, I think I started the reflection period back in early December and it's the end of January and I'm just now being like, okay, I think, I think I got it. I think I got it. So the last two weeks I've been a lot more intense of me really focusing on it, like very intensely. Um, but it's taken me a while. So it's not like supposed to be a rush process. It's supposed to be fun. It's kind of fun to learn about yourself and like, why you like certain things and what feels authentic to, to you and breaking down barriers of what you think you can and can't like, and why are there certain barriers that you've just subconsciously held in your life that's keeping you back from living your life maybe a different way, a Lot of this is almost like therapy and figuring out, do you have subconscious blockers to things? I think I figured out that I just have a subconscious blocker because I don't know, like, I'm nervous of if I completely change and like, go full force with one really good content strategy. Like, what if it works really well and then I have, like, no control over it because it's being successful? And then people might be mean to me because the more people that see your stuff, the more chance there is for people to be mean. So I think that's been my subconscious blocker right now. It's like, but if I really want to make change in the sense that I have, like, a bit more control over my life and I'm finally doing the things I've wanted to since I was like, 15, it's like, okay, we've got to remove some of those subconscious blockers, subconscious thought patterns that are kind of holding you back, figuring out why you like the things you like, why you don't like the things you don't like, and really learn about yourself. And then I think you'll be set up in a good position to like, decide your rebrand. The deciding part, I think is like, final, and it will be really easy. Once you do all that pre work of like the whys s and the learning about yourself and all this stuff, then the final decision should feel pretty easy and fast. But it's a lot of the, like, what will the impact of this be? Why do I want it, why do I like it? Blah, blah, blah. That is, I think, the bulk of the time that it takes. But like the picking out the colors and the inspo pictures, like, that's the fun part. So, like, just have fun with it. Enjoy the process. It's not meant to be something like, difficult or scary. This is like a fun little, like, hobby exercise for you to do and you learn a lot about on the way. Like, you can learn about branding for free on YouTube. There's a bunch of people that just put out content for free. So I think we also forget as a society that we just have such a, um, deep well of knowledge to choose from and you can learn whatever you want. So if you want to learn more about branding, it's on YouTube. If you want to learn more about certain aesthetics and fashion styles and makeup styles, it's on YouTube. So, yeah, like I said, I hope this wasn't too rambly, but it's hard to kind of decide your personal brand if you don't do all that pre Work. So that's what I would suggest. Sit down, enjoy, like, a little journaling session. Have some fun on Canva. I like to just pick out images that I like and then put them on, like, a slide in Canva, and then kind of sit there and think, like, why do I like this? And really be specific about why you like a certain image. Is it because you just like the aesthetic of it, or is it something you can realistically emulate? Like, I noticed I really like a lot of photos with, um, blonde hair and black outfits. And it was totally subconscious. I didn't even know that I was picking those out. But then as I was looking at all my, like, inspo pictures together, I was like, I must really like blonde hair with black outfits, which is something that I also like to wear. So I'm like, okay, well, maybe that's just something I need to do more often. Like, when I'm putting together an outfit. Maybe it's like a black leather jacket and my hair is a bit more blonde. I don't know. So you can notice patterns in the things that you like, that it might be totally subconscious. And then it's just fun to learn. Like, okay, I'm seeing these patterns in these images and this content and these videos. Like, why do I seem to be gravitated towards them? And then you can repeat that in your own process. And yeah, because we see so many things and images and videos, and we don't even really know why we might like it or not like it or why it's a successful piece of content or not a successful piece of content. So I think the fun part is really, like, getting a good sample size of the content that you personally like and then figuring out why you like it. And I think you can learn a lot about yourself just from analyzing what you engage with online. And that's kind of the fun part. So, anyways, good luck. Let me know how your personal brand journey is going and let me know if you have questions in the comments. Because I, uh, have loved doing this for myself. I find it so fulfilling and satisfying to kind of, like, just define myself a bit. And then you can tell people about yourself as well. Like, oh, who are you? What do you do? Why do you like the things you like? Like, what are your hobbies? What are your interests? What are your goals in life? And then you can actually answer those questions, which is very important. So it's not just for branding and aesthetics and vain reasons. Like, this is also, I think, very integral and a good exercise to do anyway, it's kind of like a journaling session. A long, weeks, long, months long journaling session. Um, but anyways, I hope this was helpful for you guys, or at least enjoyable to learn a little something about personal branding and learning about yourself. And if you want to see an updated makeup routine. Speaking of makeup content, I just posted my new makeup routine here on YouTube, so if you guys want to check that out, I recommend it. It's like an hour long, but it's like, almost like a makeup lesson of how I do my makeup step by step. So if you want to check that out, it'll be the most recent video before this one, and that's it. So thanks for watching, thanks for listening, and I will see you in the next episode. Bye.
