Moving Nevada: Empowering Our Community with Physical Therapy

A Seat at the Table or On the Menu?: The Importance of Flash Action Strategy Participation

Dr. Jen Nash, PT, DPT speaks with Laura Keivel, APTA Senior Specialist of Grassroots and Political Affairs about the APTA Flash Action Strategy.

"If you're a student, you're concerned about paying off your student loans, increasing diversity on campuses and in the profession, being paid fairly for your services, and having access to patients once you graduate. The APTA Flash Action Strategy is a way to advocate for these and other issues important to you and to the profession."- APTA.org

In this discussion, Laura discusses the importance of participating in the upcoming Flash Action Strategy September 24, 2024 with kickoff event at 4:00pm PST. Then the action begins September 25th and 26th!

So we are calling all Student PTs and PTAs to put Nevada on the LEADER BOARD for the Student Advocacy Challenge!

You can do this by making donations (even a small amount helps immensely!), learning about the importance of the PTPAC, and/or posting on social media educating people about the PTPAC September 25-26, 2024.

Why Does This Matter? Listen to this episode to find out:

-What the PTPAC (Physical Therapy Political Action Committee) is and why it's not only important, but necessary to help support it in order for physical therapists and physical therapist assistants to have a seat at the table.

-How even simple actions, such as sending emails and donating (even just a small amount) actually do make an impact on influencing Congress and moving our profession forward! (For example, did you know that just 5-10 letters on the same issue is all it takes to get the attention of that member of Congress and their staff?)
