Season 2. Episode 36. Geoff Pope, Paducah Tilghman Alum (Football State Champ & Track Star) USATF Masters Competitor.

On today's episode we are talking with Paducah Native and Paducah Tilghman Alum Geoff Pope.  Geoff was a starting tailback for the 1980 State Champion Football Team and a star athlete on the Track & Field Team.  Today he competes in the Sr. Track and Field Games as well as the USATF Masters Championships.  In this year's Masters in Huntsville AL Geoff finished 3rd in the (60-64) age division in the 100M dash with a personal best time of 12.72!!!  The amazing aspect of that time is that in his Sr. year of 1981 at Paducah Tilghman his personal best was 11.30!!!         41 years later he is only down 1.42 seconds!!!  During the conversation you will hear where he gets his athletic abilities and who some of the influences were throughout the years.  Also, a poem he wrote about a loss in the final game of the football season and how it relates to life in general.  Thanks for listening today and be sure to download wherever you get your Podcasts.  Hopefully there are no grammatical errors or misspellings in this summary since Geoff is now a proofreader and former editor.
