SPEAKER_09

Oh really? We're both wearing the black t-shirts. Although mine's bring me the horizon, so I oh the yours is God of War? Bring me the horizon or God of War. Down in the comments, let us know. Welcome to episode 40 of Did You Say Something. Fucking 40. Oh my god, that's we're getting up there into we're getting close to your age. Jesus.

SPEAKER_10

Make it stop! Please! Here you go, man. Have this. It got 10,000 views. Created by yours, truly. I cry once a year! Okay? We can't ever just do something simple.

SPEAKER_12

Well, we've definitely surpassed you.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, that's a good thing without saying. Uh yes, so uh a while ago I had the idea of showing Matt Epic the Musical, how Matt has been reacting to all the Ren stuff and the Ren and Webby stuff like uh in the sagas specifically for Ren, uh how he does all the callbacks and the musicality and uh how the music changes with and to change the inflection and the feeling of the song. Uh and then I nerded out because I, for those of you that don't know, fucking love Epic the Musical. Jorge is a genius. Uh Jorge is the guy that created it. Uh the story behind it is uh oh god, I'm gonna get they're gonna shout at me in the comments because I'm probably gonna get this wrong. But uh Homer's the Odyssey, uh he basically made a musical from that. And uh he's working on a new one called Ilium, which I can't remember the story that was based off. But it's gonna be just as fucking fantastic as this, I have no doubt. Uh so yeah, this is broken up in two different sagas, four or five songs in each saga. In my opinion, they just get better and better and better. But he created all of this. Everything you're about to hear, he he created. Uh he put auditions out there on TikTok and other social media sites to find singers and voice actors that he could incorporate into this, and it just fucking blew up. And I believe they're now in talks for video games, which is pretty fucking cool. Hi, welcome back. Where did you go? Yeah, missed about the last 30 seconds of that. I got very disturbing. That's fine, that's just where all the important bits were. That's all good. Hopefully you guys at home are paying attention, because this fuck clearly isn't.

SPEAKER_12

Uh yeah, the ADD. I clicked something and then the screen went bright and my eyes went and then the sun is in my eyes. Um I am excited though. Um I feel like definitely and especially the last ten years. Uh yeah, I'd say about the last ten years, I've really uh opened up to a lot of different kinds of music and and styles. Um softened up, as they say. I've gone a bit soft. Um which is a great thing because I'm able to enjoy that much more without having some dumb bias or something like that behind it. So I'm excited to listen to this. Um I know it's uh a massive, massive uh following behind it. So I just to preface this with I gener have basically like most things, almost zero knowledge about Epic the musical, um other than it's a big deal. Kind of a big deal. Um I couldn't resist.

SPEAKER_09

Was not because you were drinking the Coke. But no, you son of a bitch. Still waiting for that official sponsor, by the way, Coca-Cola. Oh, by the way.

SPEAKER_11

While we're at it. Arizona tea. I drink a variety of your product and I love it. And then you just would absolutely endorse the shit out of this great product.

SPEAKER_09

If you could just ship some over to the UK as well, that'd be fantastic. Real tea. Isn't that selling houses? Right, it's uh before the fuckery continues. I'm gonna go ahead and hit a break. Right. Go ahead and fuck off. Uh I'm gonna We are doing this, uh I just want to say uh I'm glad that you're softening up on your music tastes and being more accepting. Uh and joining me in the what I have coined polyjamorous state. Where you just enjoy a bit of every bit of music.

SPEAKER_12

There you go, we figured it out. That's the genre that Ren is. He's in the poly. He's polyjamorous. That's a genre.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. Yeah, agreed. Uh so yeah, uh this is obviously musical style. Uh this first saga is the shortest of the sagas, but arguably, you know, one of the more important ones is it sets the whole thrust of everything that happens. Okay. Uh so yeah. This is the horse and the infant, and I'm gonna hit play now.

SPEAKER_05

Alright, my brothers, listen closely. Tonight we make the Trojans pay. Ten years of war, they killed us slowly. But now we'll be the ones who slay. Think of your wives and your children. Your families wonder where you've been. Well, I stay and you'll see them again. I can free the guards, I don't think it's hard, I don't think it's hard.

SPEAKER_12

Say again, sorry. Apologies. Uh so I'd love that heartbeat.

SPEAKER_00

Um already clearly has the I'm so glad you picked up on it.

SPEAKER_12

Uh clearly already has the musical um feel to it. But uh I like what they're doing, what uh how his pace is when he's singing, how it is fast paced, but he's able to sing it so it slows it down to understand it at the same time, right? Yeah, he enunciates really well. Yes, thank you. But everything that doesn't come across as well uh when people try to do eagle fit. You're like, what, excuse me, huh? Um and I like the feel of it so far, it's already giving you kind of like that little shoulder movement from the side.

SPEAKER_09

I noticed I just want you to notice how hard I'm trying to not sing along. I don't have a voice like Jorge, and I don't want to distract or detract from this for you. Uh but yeah. Um I I love that everything is planned. I you know, similar similar to what I've said about Ren in the past. It's all uh, you know, the like you said, the heartbeat in the background because it's just sort of uh it's a poignant moment, so to bring attention to it, everything gets drawn back, it's simplified, and it's just the heartbeat, and very well done.

SPEAKER_12

Yes. Uh I think that there'll be some time in the uh epic reaction um to coin that because that's gonna be the name of the series for the uh reaction. Yeah.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah. We uh we'll come up with some good names. No, we can do names. We'll we'll do names after. Uh what so what I'll do is I'm just gonna if you if you want to talk about anything, you let me know and I'll hit pause because uh we don't have to raise your hands like fucking school. That was a long time ago for you. Bing but obviously I I know what I want to talk about for a lot of this. Um but to not ruin anything for you, I'll wait until after the episodes or maybe even the sagas before I talk about the nerdy bits. Fair enough. I appreciate that.

SPEAKER_12

Because you know me, I will want to nerd in once I get into it. I'm gonna want to nerd about it too.

SPEAKER_09

So yeah, let's do it. And I cannot fucking wait. But yeah, alright, uh back to it.

SPEAKER_05

I fight for us, I fight for us.

SPEAKER_09

Although I will just say on that bit, I don't know if this is the version or not, uh, but in the I know I definitely know on the Spotify, uh, I think he redid the earlier songs as he went further down and he re-recorded some of the lines. And obviously the line there is uh Antelemachus, I fight for us, I fight for us. In the Spotify version, it sounds like he's singing I will fight for us which cracks me up every single time anyway.

SPEAKER_08

I'm like every one.

SPEAKER_13

It's just a boy Sun of the Tull Sunday cannot.

SPEAKER_08

This is the son of none of the boys very long. All the two rolls from the boy to another.

SPEAKER_09

I like how uh what they're saying and their voices come together. Like just on uh so that obviously here they're having the conversation. I could raise him as my own, he will burn your house and throne. Like they're having that back and forth conversation. I'll send him far away from home, he'll find you wherever you go. Like, oh yes, it's it's so good.

SPEAKER_12

Um, I like how I think at first when the contrast to their voices comes in, um it definitely fits, but it's kind of like that little thing. And you think about it, but then when they really start singing and blending them together, right? Them together is uh is is a nice uh harmony that they put in together.

SPEAKER_09

It's it's great. So Jorge plays Odysseus, which is obviously the main character of this. You've got uh Luke Holt who plays the god who any guesses?

SPEAKER_12

No, no, yeah, I'm not gonna just listen to pay attention to the music in the story and uh all good.

SPEAKER_09

Uh but yeah, Luke Holt plays this god and his he oh god, the way he sings, he has his own song later on.

SPEAKER_12

Well it's not Zeus, is it because he's in the clouds? Or is it Zeus? Give me a damn yes or no.

SPEAKER_09

Is it Zeus or not? It's Zeus, yeah. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He plays Zeus. Uh and he I remember uh seeing an interview somewhere they asked, How do you how do you get your voice to like because that's his voice isn't that deep. That is that is him kind of acting as a character through the song. Um but they were like, How do you how do you get your voice to hit those notes? How do you get such a good uh uh baritone and bass? Excuse me. Uh and he was like, ironically, I sing really high-pitched songs like Taylor Swift and he sings high to put the strain and the stress on his voice so that when he comes to doing Zeus, it can he can sit it lower without uh without having to force it. And I just I thought that was a really nice fucking touch. From a voice from a nerdy voice actor point of view.

SPEAKER_12

Whether I can sing or not, that's terrible, and I I'll still just go sing a high bird song before I want to do like an audition or a deep roll.

SPEAKER_09

All the cats in a five five mile radius.

SPEAKER_12

Ah not that bad, but I'm not great. I'll definitely say that. Um aspired to be a singer when I was young and then fair.

SPEAKER_09

Don't don't we all I definitely had aspirations of being a singer and an actor. Uh still do. Yeah. I that the acting, yeah, the singing. I've resigned myself to the fact that I am comfortably karaoke level at best. You're poor stirring will. Oh god, right. Anyway, fucking shifty.

SPEAKER_02

Please don't make me do this! Don't make me do this.

SPEAKER_08

The blood on your hands is something you won't lose. All you can choose is Yeah.

SPEAKER_12

I didn't realize how close we were to the end. Nice uh nice start though, like nice premise. You know what I mean? Like to get going on where the where the story's coming from. Okay. Okay.

SPEAKER_09

Uh so that animatic was done by a creator called Gigi. Uh, do go check that one out. Uh I've kind of just I've kind of gone random, but I think these are also the ones that the fandom have accepted. Uh later on, once Jorge kind of understood how big this could be, he started Kickstarter or GoFundMe or one of those uh pages and Patreon and all that. Uh and everybody went mental in support for it, which obviously allowed him to commission artworks and commission type animatics as well to be done by specific people. Um so that that's that's a nice touch. That's the kind of shit that I want to do with and I know you do too, with narrative flow, is to be able to go fund things so we can do other fun things with it. Yeah but we'll that we'll talk about that on another episode. But right here, right now, we're doing we're doing uh we're doing epic the music.

SPEAKER_10

Pay attention to us. You came here to watch us. We have so many things that we want to do.

SPEAKER_09

Oh we we do have much to show you and much to talk about, but like I said, for another episode. Okay, so this next this next one is called Just a Man. And uh uh it flows straight in from the last one. It's kinda I don't it's kind of a shame doing it the way that we we're doing it, but it's also kind of like the only way that we could get away with doing this, otherwise it would just watch the whole saga and yeah. But they all they all flow in one from another. How long is each saga? Uh it varies. I think most songs are about standard length, you know, three, four minutes. Um I guess there's four or five in each saga. So yeah. Well uh Okay. Yep, but we've watched that one, Gigi, thank you very much. Plus it adds Lydrama.

SPEAKER_13

I look into your eyes and I think back to the sun.

SPEAKER_05

Oh my Your Sun.

SPEAKER_09

But when does the cabbage become Sorry, I missed the missed the pause there. Uh so uh already you kinda you you can you get the sense of the callbacks, right? And recycling lines and melodies. Um I can't wait for it to I yeah. I so I I don't know if you can tell. I'm fucking excited to nerd out uh all of this with you. I can tell. Oh mm-hmm. I can feel all right, cronk. Uh yeah. Uh that's what I w another thing I really wanted to touch on was uh Jorge's fucking brilliance. To be able to take home as the Odyssey and turn it into a musical that alright, you you know, he inevitably has to change certain bits and other bits don't fit some stories and uh character arcs have to get removed to make way for other things, and obviously it's wherever the music would have led him to tell the key points, but the fact he can still tell such a story and the way the words that he uses uh to really drive home the impact is just so fucking clever. Like from a songwriting point of view.

SPEAKER_12

Oh no, it's uh it's honestly so far I I'm I'm I'm I'm enjoying it. It's like it's that uh so if the reaction's not like all this blah blah, I'm just enjoying it. Like the music's very nice. Um I definitely acknowledge his his uh rises and his and his and his lowers are very nice. Um and then his transitions in and out of you know what I mean, where his comfortable singing ranges to where he you know can really push it. And then I'm like that's why I'm like, okay, now I'm like now I'm in the anticipation of like I can't wait till later because I want to hear him push. That voice because he's got a beautiful voice, so when he's really loud, oh he really does. You know what I mean? That's gonna be nice.

SPEAKER_09

Um when he belts boy does he belt. Uh he was you know, he's a theatre kid, music kid music kid. He's a proper nerd. And he's so fucking funny that after I don't know, maybe after we've done uh the all all of the epic sagas, or maybe even just in between you I'll find some of his videos to send you because he's so fucking funny. He's just a real person that you know that was it had a passion, uh pursued that passion, and it's brought him so much that he and he just wants to give back. Uh anyway, back to the music.

SPEAKER_05

But when does a commit become a meteor? When does a candle become a blaze? When does a man become a monster? When does a ripple become a tidal wave? What does the reason become a blaze? When does a man become I just mmm that was very people put a very nice touch on that at the end there, that was good.

SPEAKER_09

Yes. Uh that animatic was also done by Gigi. Do uh do go check out some of her stuff. Uh so this one, full speed ahead. The animatic is by Wolfie the Witch. Um and again, it's uh it's very nicely done. Honestly, all of the animatics are fucking brilliant. I obviously the different aspects of the fandoms have different favorites. Uh there is no right or wrong one to watch, I don't think. Correct me if I'm wrong. They will. Oh god, they certainly will. But until then, we're gonna we're gonna keep going. Let's do it.

SPEAKER_12

Nice build.

SPEAKER_05

Six hundred men, six hundred men under my command, with only one golden eye. Six hundred men six hundred miles of it. It's what I do, die, six hundred magic, six hundred magic out to be one of the five sticky six hundred magic, six hundred reasons to take what we have.

SPEAKER_14

I see the I see the clothes, I think the fire baby the chest.

SPEAKER_05

I see five I see this right first.

SPEAKER_01

We don't have time to waste, so let's play the place.

SPEAKER_05

You will go ahead.

SPEAKER_09

You didn't get me to s you didn't get me to stop once. No.

SPEAKER_12

I just wanted to yeah, wanted to keep going. It's really, really good. Like that. Boom. It's like the hard part is like it's a song and then it feels like a movie, like I'm watching a Disney movie, and then I'm like, why'd you start?

SPEAKER_09

Where's the uh the the singer for Eurylicus is uh Mando Julian. Uh I hope I'm saying that right. Uh him and Jorge uh did some fucking funny skits as their characters all over social media. I think that one of my favorite ones is they're playing on the beach somewhere. And uh I don't know, that's a spoiler. They're playing on a beach somewhere, I'll leave it in there until later. Sorry.

SPEAKER_00

I'm really sorry! I really enjoyed it! I'm really I really try it!

SPEAKER_11

I just might as well shut the show down now.

SPEAKER_09

Uh so yeah, they you know, they have their story, it will all become apparent. Uh and Polities, and this next song is very polities heavy, uh, is by a singer called Stephen Dookie. As far as I'm aware, I don't think he's done anything else. Um and in a complete moment of unprofessionalism, every time I say his surname, I have to stifle a laugh. Uh I wasn't gonna say anything.

SPEAKER_12

Trying to be professional over here.

SPEAKER_10

I it's just for Dookie's a funny name. I'm sure he knows.

SPEAKER_09

Oh, so now we're moving on to uh open arms. Open arms, open arms with the animatic by uh Merxy who's quite a popular animatic creator in the fandom, I think.

SPEAKER_14

You can relax, my friend. Huh? I can tell you're getting nervous. So do yourself a service. You try to relax, my friend. Fine policies. Think of all that we have been through. We'll survive what are we getting through? I know that you're tired of the warm bloodshed. Tell me, is this how we're supposed to live? Look at how you grip, good sword and upset. Why should we take when we could give? You can show a person that you trust. When you stop in love with your card, here we have a chance to stop adjustment. Give it a try, it's not that hard. I'm telling you. It's not crazy. When you greet it with the heart, sorry. I'm so sorry.

SPEAKER_12

Those first couple of lines, that guy was really off and like it. It's nice. It's nice to hear him like get back into a nice, smoother uh voice towards. Can we go back so I could, you know, see if that was just a glitch in the matrix?

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, no, of course. Uh I don't know what happened there. That thing is uh technical difficulty on my part, I think.

SPEAKER_12

Hey, you made it to what, three songs?

SPEAKER_09

Uh yeah.

SPEAKER_12

And this is this is I love this one. Clearly.

SPEAKER_09

It's such a fun song. Oh, you're good, man. That's what you it's meant to be. I'll tell you what, I'm gonna turn my game down so I can get away with it.

SPEAKER_14

Give it a try, it's not that hard. I'm telling you, this life is amazing when you greet it with open arms. Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart. No matter the place we can light up the world, here's how to start. Greet the world with open arms, greet the world with open arms. Stay back my friend, greet the world with open eyes.

SPEAKER_05

We're only here for two hundred friends are waiting for us to show our fixes. Stay back, I'm warning you. If we don't get back safely, my men will turn this place into blazes.

SPEAKER_14

See? This life is amazing when you create with old enough. Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading on the heart.

SPEAKER_09

My gain's too high now.

SPEAKER_12

Yeah. I uh heard you whisper sing all of that. We all did very loudly. It was nice. That's a hundred percent stay in.

SPEAKER_09

Good. Uh and this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I'm not a professional singer. I was also at a wedding last night where I was doing my best to deafen everyone on the dance floor when certain songs came on. Um my voice is a little a little rough today. Maybe maybe next time we do this, I'll be able to sing properly for you all. Uh how's my game now, sir? Good? Much better. Okay. Is it the same as it was before?

SPEAKER_12

Oh yeah, like the bloody every end.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, of course. I was due a fuck up on the show, so we're all good. Uh let's go back to here. Yeah. Just think we call. Place into places.

SPEAKER_14

See? This life is amazing when you greet it with open arms. Whatever we face, we'll be fine if we're leading from the heart. No matter the place, so we can light up the world here's how it starts. Greet the world with open arms, greet the world with open arms.

SPEAKER_05

My friend, I wish that I could say that I agree. But look at the way this fruit is glowing and filled with glowing teeth. It took me a while to notice just what kind of fruit they eat. It's a lotus, it controls your mind and never lets you freeze. That's what we'd get with open arms.

SPEAKER_14

Lotus eaters. I'd like to show my friend that kindness is brave. Could you tell me where there's other food to eat? A cave! You're saying there's a cave where we could feast. And where do we sail to find this food-filled cave? East that way. Thank you. East that way. Welcome. This life is amazing when you greet it with open arms. I see in your face. There's so much guilt inside your heart. So why not replace it in light of the world? Here's how to start. Greet the world with open arms. Greet the world with open arms. Greet the world with open arms. You can relax, my friend.

SPEAKER_09

Interesting.

SPEAKER_12

Interesting. I'm oddly invested. And I don't know why.

SPEAKER_09

No. It fucking grabs you. So yeah. My oldest uh son, he's the one that introduced me to this. He um he was like, Daddy, daddy, daddy, can I can can I show you a song? And then obviously kids' songs. Yeah. And then he started telling me some of these songs to put on and I was like, Okay. Okay. Uh and then started to fall in love and became more obsessed than he was than both my boys were. Yeah, I definitely stayed up to watch a live release of uh one of the sagas. It was so much fun. I don't know if it ever becomes apparent, uh, but I believe those small creatures are known as winyons. Uh which is also, I believe, what the fandom have called themselves. Yes. Uh if there's any winyons in watching this, just let us know in the chat. We'll get back to you with more uh epic musical reactions uh in the future. But for now, we're gonna continue on. This is also an animatic by Merc Merksy, which makes sense because I like the ending of that last one. And we can now lead into this one. Unless there's anything else you have to say, sir. No, I just want more. I think I I think that's the best I think that's the biggest compliment uh that you can give right now. And the fact that there is a lack of reaction from your part because it's just like I just want to keep listening to the music.

SPEAKER_12

So yeah, it's like d don't get me wrong to anybody that's watching. It's not that this isn't hitting. I just I'm very much of an observer type of person too, and I'm just trying to take it in because I'm one, I focus on the music and then I focus on the the singing and the lyric and then the lyrics, so that's why it takes me listening to something four or five times before I really put it all together.

SPEAKER_07

And I'm kind of getting it all at once at the same time, so I'm just okay.

SPEAKER_09

I shall appease you, sir, and let uh continue.

SPEAKER_06

Have you forgotten the lessons I taught you? Athena. Have you forgotten to turn off your heart? This is not you I see you changing from how I've designed you Have you forgotten your purpose? Let me remind you Goddess of wisdom My life has one mission Create the greatest for you I have a shot by all the parts of the pan. Let's go! Maybe one day he'll follow me and when they go tomorrow, then we'll see I know he'll change the world cause he is a warner of the I fucking love Teagan so much.

SPEAKER_09

Uh Tegan Ealy. Ealy? I hope I'm saying that right. Uh her voice, the the her voice and the power that she brings to Athena is just ridiculous. She is so so so so good.

SPEAKER_12

I agree. She's a great voice. That was very right off the bat. I was like, oh okay, she can sing.

SPEAKER_09

Right? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. That happens a few times throughout this. Like, oh, okay. Okay. You you clearly I can see why you won or your audition was chosen. Oh yes, uh you you're following the story so far? Yeah, I'm cool. And then we shall continue.

SPEAKER_06

One day I'll reach him and pick him guild his skills as I teach him. If there's a problem, he'll have the answer. He is a warrior of the light show yourself.

SPEAKER_05

I know you're watching me. Show yourself. I can see you. How can you see through my spine? I was lying and you fell for my blood.

SPEAKER_06

Well done, line to me, what's your name? You first and maybe I'll do the same.

SPEAKER_05

I strive but two can play this game. Nah, don't be modest. I know you're a goddess, but let's be honest, you are a three dog.

SPEAKER_04

That's the rear, one backward queen dog, the best reactor we've spent. If you're looking for a mentor, I'll make sure your time's well spent. Sounds like a plan, God is the man, best is the friend. Let's see where it is. Okay. Baby.

SPEAKER_11

We'll see where it is. In true god, in true god format to the mortals, right? Like, yeah, yeah. Your hope and optimism is cute.

SPEAKER_09

It's it's the humor of this bit that gets me every time. It's so fucking funny. And uh Mixi uh uh Mercy, I'm sorry, I've not watched this animatic before, but it's fucking brilliant. Uh there is one other animatic that specifically I love for this uh bit of the song because it really shows Odysseus' cheekiness. Uh really captures that. So I'll show I'll I'll let it either we'll do it, I'll show you at the end if I remember, or I'll show you after and we'll see if there's time to fit it in at the end of the episode. But um yeah. Just uh the humour of it, like when uh he's like we can both become best of friends, and she's like, uh we'll see, like you hear quietly and faintly in the background him uh Jorhe Odysseus going, uh okay I I don't know if it was an ad lib afterwards. I know they did a lot of recording in person, so as you and I know from doing like character work and recording projects together, uh you can get such more realism and you can really nail down the funny bits that just come to you in the moment that feel natural. Uh so I I'm not sure if this one was done in person though. But anyway, we'll we'll continue.

SPEAKER_04

If you're looking for a mentor, make sure your time's well spent. Sounds like a plan, God is a man, best is the friend. Let's see where it is. Okay.

SPEAKER_06

Maybe later they'll follow me and we'll make a greater tomorrow.

SPEAKER_03

Then they'll see I know we'll get the world I still try to make sure you don't fall behind.

SPEAKER_06

Don't forget to go for you. I'll have every special kind, you want the war Don't disappoint me.

SPEAKER_09

Merksy, nice job on that animatic. God damn. Uh so that one was that one was powerful.

SPEAKER_12

That was very nice. Um she really uh brings a lot of good out in him too. Um and the way that they harmonize together and all of that. Yeah. Brought a different um octave and almost a pitch out of him, you know what I mean? Singing with her. And that's sometimes when you have a different voice, right? When you're singing, you do have to get up and match whoever has the most match, you gotta be able to reach something close to that level because they're not gonna be able to come down to where you're at. So you've got to be able to try to find where that that balance is. And they did a very nice job. And uh all the music, uh sorry, the singing and all that aside, the the music itself, the the tracks underlying and the transitions and that little like time that was started going back. Yeah, yeah, there's just very nice bits of music that I will definitely be going back and listening to more and more after you know what I mean, because it's there there's very nice little touches in there for sure.

SPEAKER_09

Yeah, it's it's definitely one of those things that the more you listen to, the more you pick up on. And then obviously, uh if you're anything like me, you find yourself down rabbit holes where bits of behind-the-scenes lore or like you know, secrets and whatnot are uh published, and then it just makes it so much more interesting and intricate, and you're like, oh my god, the the amount of thought that has gone into this from Jorge is ridiculous. So and the the bit is that so much of it gets unnoticed or goes by unnoticed because it is so subtle, but if you take that away, it loses so much of the power or the humour, for instance, like that little okay that's in the background, quiet and down. Like it's funny, it brings a light, it you know, brings the light-heartedness to it, and then when you you finish the song and don't disappoint me is the final line, and the music starts to take a more serious turn, and it's like, oh, that has more power because it's we've just been having this great time, and it's oh they're gonna become best friends. And oh, actually, hold on. She is still Athena.

SPEAKER_12

Yeah, she is still yeah, that was nice because and you're right, that did kind of even for me, that did kind of carry me into this. Like I was sucked into that. Like, oh la la la la la la la la, yay, sunshine, rainbows is me. Fairy tale happy, and then done. Yeah, right. The the the goddess is really there, and she is still has a purpose, and you are just immortal. Yeah, and she will find another means. She believes in you, but you know what I mean. She's gonna do what she's gonna do. Yeah, you're nothing to her. So that that was a very nice it's it's like putting the that was very nice, and I think about was the biggest draw about that one, is this that's very much like the like I was talking about, like the the stereotypical, like say, like Disney princess type movie and the sound and the feeling and all that, right? Yeah, but then also at the same time that darkness and the reality of what's behind this musical uh and the playwright that's behind it, right? Like if you're really like a lot of these, they're if you're really paying attention to the story and what's happening, a lot of them are dark tales. Um very dark tales, and the the music is what uh allows to you to traverse the story um in a different way, and then those little bits of comedy and all that. It's yeah, Jore's done a fantastic job of lightening up a very dark tale, because anything to do with the Greek gods, especially meddling uh in with mortals, is 99.9% of the time very bad. Yes.

SPEAKER_09

Not not fun. Uh yeah, it's uh I'm glad you've enjoyed that. That's that is the Troy saga of Epic the Musical. That is the first saga done. Um now, when obviously when all of these came out, I'm sure y you can appreciate the uh the weight between the sagas was starting to uh get on pe not get on people's nerves, but just really leave them wanting for more. Yeah. Because I guarantee if I turned around to you right now and said, hey, I've still got time. Do you want to record the next episode and react to the next saga? You're gonna turn around and say I'm gonna say no.

SPEAKER_12

I'm gonna wait. Just despite me? Wow, okay. No, I think uh it's kind of the same thing as the as the uh Webby Ren stays and the Ren Ren and the Impatient Reacts is where it's yes, it's it drives me nuts, but it's also great when we get to it to nail the anticipation because now I can go back and listen to just this saga so that I can really soak it in and I feel like I would be better prepared and more psyched for the next one. You know what I mean? Uh as we hit the next saga. And then also we could squeeze more out of the day. Just not the disc podcast.

SPEAKER_09

Uh I'm just trying to find the that specific uh animatic bit that I'm on for you. Anyway, you know what? Let's uh let's wrap this up. Stick around to the end. I will find it. I will get Matt's reaction to it, so stick around right till the end to see that. Uh, but if you also want to jump away now, then we will say uh we hope you enjoyed that episode. And I know I'm looking forward to recording the next one of these so I get to nerd out some more and bring you along for the nerdy ride. I'm down. But fair enough. Go away, listen to the first saga, get some more insight on the first saga, and when we come back and record the next one, uh you can you can offer some more thoughts on it. Yeah, maybe I can have a little more to say. Yeah, that'll be good. I noticed I had to start pausing and talking so that you to break your concentration so you could start talking about things. Just end up, man. I just I just thought I liked to talk a lot on the Ren React videos. Uh, I now see that actually if I don't do it, there would be no commentary.

SPEAKER_12

I mean uh but it's also like a normal episode. It's just you talking too much.

SPEAKER_09

Fair enough. Uh I'm sure the people don't want to hear you anymore either. So on that note, we'll catch you in episode 41. Make sure to like, share, subscribe, and comment. And until uh until then, dish you later, and as always, love you bye. Love you bye. And recording. Uh, so this is by Mar Markomi. I don't want to say that wrong. Uh, but I think it's Markomi. Uh, and I know we've just listened to it, but I'm just gonna play a little bit so we can see the style and the choices of this one. Uh because hmm. Uh oh, this isn't the one either. But this is a beautiful one. Damn it. I thought that was the one. Sorry. Fuck, which one is it?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, where is it?

SPEAKER_10

Uh no, it's not that one. Shush.

SPEAKER_02

Fuck.

SPEAKER_10

Why can't I find the w the amount of times I've fucking found it, and now that I want to find it, I can't.

SPEAKER_09

So this has been this was done by uh, as it says here, a uh it's a student short film. So they've obviously uh you know they spent a bit of time on it, and uh yeah, the way they capture the the humour of it all, beautifully done.

unknown

Okay?

SPEAKER_09

So enjoy.

SPEAKER_10

You're not doing the rest of it! God fucking damn it! Where's the full one?

SPEAKER_09

I'm gonna go have a uh I'm gonna go have a meltdown. This is not a terrorist moment. Uh Cold Joyce's Redacted Tales episode three, go check it out. And that's not sound reductional look. Go give it a listen and let us know what you think.

SPEAKER_10
