EP #252: Renderings, Remodels, and Raising a Grandson: Inside Done Right Home Pros

Sophia Yvette

What makes Curt Landry and Jordan Bommershime with Done Right Home Professionals a good neighbor?

Searching for a trustworthy contractor who'll stick around until the job is done right? Meet Curt Landry and Jordan Bommershime, the father-daughter team behind Done Right Home Professionals, who are transforming the North Dallas remodeling scene with their unique approach to customer satisfaction.

Curt shares the company's origin story, which began with an ambitious project turning a 40-bedroom Oklahoma hotel into a charming five-bedroom bed and breakfast. This initial venture sparked his passion for renovation and ultimately led to establishing a business built on an unwavering principle: never leaving until the customer is 100% satisfied. "We named the company Done Right Home Professionals because I hire only top professionals that really understand their craft," Curt explains, highlighting how this commitment has earned them exclusively five-star reviews.

What truly distinguishes Done Right from competitors is their integrated design-build approach. As both the company's interior designer and Curt's daughter, Jordan creates detailed renderings that help clients visualize their completed spaces before demolition begins. "There aren't a lot of contracting companies that have an interior designer," Jordan points out. "The nice thing about our company is my dad and I are in constant communication." This seamless collaboration eliminates the communication breakdowns that often plague renovation projects when designers and contractors work separately.

The interview takes a poignant turn when Curt shares how losing both parents just two days apart became a defining moment that ultimately strengthened his resolve. Rather than retreating after this tragedy, the family grew closer and more determined to build something meaningful together. Now, with Jordan expecting a son and renovating her own home, the family-centered values that drive their business continue to evolve and expand.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a general contractor? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing you to your good neighbors Kurt Landry and Jordan Bombershine with their company Dunrite Home Professionals. Kurt and Jordan, how are you both today?

Speaker 3:

Great great.

Speaker 2:

Doing good, Great Well. We are so excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you tell us a bit about your company?

Speaker 3:

Absolutely Well. First of all, thank you very much, sophia, for having us today. It's a pleasure to speak with you and share our company. We are Dunrite Home Professionals or a remodeling company general contracting company, and we do both residential and commercial remodeling company. General contracting company and we do both residential and commercial remodeling. Primarily residential remodeling kitchen, bathrooms, indoor, outdoor, interior, exterior, roofing whatever your needs are, we can actually do remodeling from the ground up and build a home if we have to.

Speaker 2:

Well, that is pretty impressive, and so how did you both get into this business originally?

Speaker 3:

Well, in 2006, my wife and I and brother and sister-in-law bought a general store, actually in a hotel in a small town in Oklahoma. The hotel was kind of a shotgun hotel 40 bedrooms. We turned it into a five-bedroom bed and breakfast and ended up building that out and the general store. We just demoed the inside and redid it and actually turned around and sold it. So had a little bit of taste of getting into flipping, so to speak, and it worked out great. Just kind of gave us the love for being in this business and you know we've been going at it and developing our crews and doing it right here in the North Dallas area.

Speaker 2:

Wow, what is the most common myth or misconception you come across in your industry?

Speaker 3:

That's a great question.

Speaker 3:

A lot of times we find customers that are not happy with their previous general contractor, or someone did a job and left them or didn't do a great job, and so the misconception in the industry is that some general contractors will leave a job undone.

Speaker 3:

We named the company Done Right Home Professionals because, first of all, I hire only top professionals working with me that really understand their craft and we do it right. I'm not leaving the home or business until it's 100% done right and we tell that to the customer throughout the process that you have to be 100% happy before I leave, and that's pretty much given us the success that we need from customers and referrals going forward. Who are your target clients and, in terms of marketing, how do you attract them? It's a great question. We do a lot of referral business, so our target audience is anyone that needs a kitchen remodel or home remodel, interior, exterior upgrade of any sort. We take it on and, thanks to Jordan being my interior designer and marketing, she helps out a lot in that area. I'll pass it over to Jordan for the marketing and try to let you know exactly what we do there.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so we are actually. We've been rebranding our website and starting an Instagram and we'll eventually move to Facebook. I think that's kind of the next step for us. Like he was saying a lot of our clients. We get a lot of our clients through referrals, which is amazing, just kind of showcases how good of a job my dad's team does. But, yes, moving forward, kind of promoting on Instagram and that type of thing, we're looking forward to jumping in more in more.

Speaker 2:

What about being a family business outside of work? What are some activities you?

Speaker 3:

guys like to do together for fun Together. Well, jordan is pregnant and looking to spend a lot of time with the grandson-to-be and just really excited about that. Just a lot of time with a grandson-to-be and just really excited about that, just a lot of. Also, she'd been married for three years now. So, just you know, getting together with family is really important to us. We spend a lot of time. We're a very close-knit family. I come from a very large family so we're typically used to being close and doing things together. So, personally, I like to play golf. I play golf with our husband, my son-in-law, and when we can get together and sing in the church and just church activities, jordan, you can share.

Speaker 4:

For me. My husband and I actually just bought a property, so we are completely renovating it. It's kind of a cool process for me because I've worked with a bunch of clients but now I'm my own client, so that's been pretty exciting being able to renovate our own space.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I'm sure that's a lot of fun, and congrats on your family expanding Jordan.

Speaker 4:

Thank you, we're excited.

Speaker 2:

Girl or boy?

Speaker 4:

Boy.

Speaker 2:

Oh well, that's awesome. Now let's go ahead and switch gears for a second. Can either of you describe a hardship or life challenge you overcame and how it made you better and stronger today? What comes to mind for you?

Speaker 3:

Well, what comes to mind to me is I had parents that passed away two days apart and it was life changing, of course, put us on a different path, I think, in life, because we weren't expecting them both to pass at the same time. The funny thing is my not funny, but the thing is my mother passed on a Saturday and we were in the funeral home when we got the call that my dad passed, and so people came to see my mom and actually saw both of them. So they were, you know, the staple of the family, and and did we? What did we overcome? Just the hardship of it. I mean, when a tragedy like that happens in your family, you tend to want to, you know, go into a cocoon.

Speaker 3:

But we flourish and I believe we've been blessed, and maybe even more so since then, and maybe it's divine intervention that we're getting the customers that we get and the responses we get. We've always had five-star reviews. I've never had anything less than a five-star review, and that has a lot to do with the guys that work for me, that are really good at their craft, and Jordan doing amazing designer work for the customers and rendering so they can, you know, see what the project's going to look like even before we start, so well, I'm sure they're looking down on you from heaven and very proud at what you both have done yes, we're, uh, we've been blessed.

Speaker 2:

So, kurt, please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about done right home professionals, besides your five-star reviews.

Speaker 3:

Well and I'm touched on it we won't leave a customer's home and sell us 100%.

Speaker 3:

We're really focused on bringing the best quality service. I'm not the most expensive, I'm not the cheapest, but we're going to always do it right and we're going to give them the best product that they can receive. I think we're a little bit different in terms of being able to offer a design. You know Jordan does a lot of interior designs for customers, but if they need a design, if they don't need necessarily colors picked out or patterns or tiles selections, we still use Jordan to do a design so they have something to look at when we're going through the process. Once we demo that house, the home, they can't picture what it's going to look like, and we post up her renderings or her drawings in the areas where the you know, so they have an idea of what it's going to look like, what they can expect. It also helps my my guys that work for me knowing what's coming, what's you know what we're doing, uh, and being on top of it so that there's never a question as to what the cost the customer wants.

Speaker 2:

So, jordan, if I can jump in on that, yep, Good, I was just going to ask you where can our listeners go to learn more about Dunrite Home Professionals? But I know you had something to say before that, oh yeah, well, they can go to dunritehomeprofessionalscom.

Speaker 4:

We have our portfolio on there, some reviews, a little bit about us, and then that's also where they can contact us and reach out. I'll let my dad touch base on how that process starts. But I would say, for the interior design too, what's really cool about done right home pros is there aren't a lot of contracting companies that have an interior designer. There's a lot of interior design companies that work with contractors, but the nice thing about our company is my dad and I are in constant communication, so it's nice to have your interior designer and your contractor on the same page, and so I think that's what separates this company a little bit, just having a designer on staff.

Speaker 4:

And then I'm very flexible in how we work with the clients. You know, if they just want to see a 3D visual, I can do that. If they want tile and paint selections and that type of thing, we can do that. So we really cater towards what the client's needs are and not so much. This is what I'm going to do for you and this is the payment Right. So it's kind of a nice. It's like a la carte, I would say, for our clients. So it's kind of a nice.

Speaker 2:

It's like a la carte, I would say for our clients. Amazing and well. Kurt and Jordan, I really appreciate you both being on the show. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.

Speaker 3:

Thank you very much. Appreciate you having us, Sophia. Yes, thank you so much. Thank you having us Sophia.
