EP 264: When Light Emerges From Darkness Jamie Ferriman’s Journey with Bri Candles
What makes Jamie Ferriman with Bri Candles LLC a good neighbor?
When tragedy strikes, some people find extraordinary ways to transform their deepest pain into purpose. Jamie Ferriman's story with Bri Candles LLC exemplifies this remarkable journey. After losing her daughter Bridgett to suicide in 2022, Jamie sought a way to honor her memory while helping others struggling with similar challenges. The result is a heartfelt business that launched January 1, 2024, offering natural candles and bath essentials with names that tell stories from Bridgett's life.
What makes Bri Candles unique goes beyond the products themselves. Jamie describes her collection as "a book in candles," with each product representing meaningful moments, feelings, or sayings from her daughter's life. This personal touch creates an emotional connection that resonates with customers. Additionally, a portion of all proceeds supports foundations focused on suicide prevention, embodying Bridgett's desire to help others. Jamie's powerful message throughout our conversation was simple yet profound: "You're not alone." Having experienced both sides of the suicide equation—losing someone and navigating the aftermath—she offers genuine compassion to those struggling.
Behind the scenes, Jamie dispelled the myth that candle-making is easy, describing it as "complete chemistry" requiring significant expertise. Her all-natural ingredients are specifically formulated to help people with allergies and skin conditions (originally developed for her son who reacted to store-bought products). Her dedication to quality and mission has earned her recognition as the top candle designer of 2025 by the International Association of Top Professionals. For those seeking natural alternatives at affordable prices, visit www.bricandlesshop.com and explore products that illuminate both rooms and lives. Follow Jamie's social media for daily promotions and new product announcements—and remember that even in darkness, beautiful light can emerge.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a candle and bath essentials company? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Jamie Fairman, with Bree Candles LLC. Jamie, how's it going today?
Speaker 3:Doing wonderful. How are you?
Speaker 2:I'm also doing wonderful, jamie. Thank you so much for asking Now. We are so excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you tell us a bit about your company?
Speaker 3:Okay, sorry, bree Candles LLC was created excuse me about two years ago, and I first launched opened my doors January 1st of 2024. The reason why I started the company is in 2022, we lost our daughter, bridget, and I wanted to honor her and keep her memory alive, and also to help the community, like she wanted to. Part of the proceeds of everything I sell does go to a foundation that helps people with suicide, does go to a foundation that helps people with suicide, and so I created Brie Candles, not only to help people, but also to keep, like I said, keep her memory alive. Any product that I make actually tells a story behind her. Basically, it's like a book in candles. Each name represents a moment or a feeling or a saying in her life.
Speaker 2:Wow, that's a powerful why, jamie. I'm so sorry you had to experience that, but you are one strong woman for turning that into a business and for helping other people. Let me commend you on that. Thank you. Now, what is the most common myth or misconception you come across in your industry?
Speaker 3:How easy it is to start making candles. It is not easy. It is a complete chemistry. There's so much that goes into making candles and bath essentials.
Speaker 2:Now we know marketing is key to any business's success. How do you market your business?
Speaker 3:First off is word of mouth. I also hand out samples. I hand out my cards. I've gone to several craft fairs events the first year. That's all I was dedicated to. I'm on almost every single social media platform you can find. I've also done multiple podcast interviews. I also have a publicist. I also have a journalist that I'm becoming quite close to, and I also have been in nine magazine articles, and about four months ago I actually won the top candle designer and owner of 2025 by the International Association of Top Professionals and they broadcasted me everywhere.
Speaker 2:Wow, that's amazing. Jamie, let's go ahead and switch gears Now. I know you did get into the hardship that you had experienced with your daughter. Would you mind telling our listeners today, the ones who may be struggling with what she went through, some words of support for maybe them and their families through their challenging time?
Speaker 3:their challenging time. The best phrase I can tell anybody is you're not alone. Whether you think you are, you're not. If you're going through something like this, reach out. Whether it's the depression, the dark world, whether you're the person thinking about it or the person dealing with the loss of someone, you're not alone. Reach out to somebody, because there is always somebody that has gone through it that you never knew. I have actually met so many people who have been in my situation and also our daughter's situation, because of this and I my goal is to help people. So I mean, if you want to reach out to me, I can help. I know both sides.
Speaker 2:Wow and Jamie, if you wouldn't mind telling our listeners today where was it that you pulled your strength from?
Speaker 3:My husband, to be honest, my husband, to be honest, he um, even though he was going through it just as hard as I was, he, he saw that I was in a downward spiral and he told me I need to find a hobby and just to have something to focus on, to give me a purpose again. And so I remember her and I used to go to all these stores and spend hours and hours and hours just smiling every candle, and that was a happy moment in our lives. And so I looked up an article and found candles and he's like I will support you 100%. Just for a hobby. He goes anything to help you get pulled out of this, because I'm a creative, diy, hands-on type of person and he just kept supporting me every single step of the way type of person. And he just kept supporting me every single step of the way, buying every material regardless if I needed it, and he's the one that just keeps pushing me. And if it wasn't for him, I don't know where I'd be, wow.
Speaker 2:Well, jamie, I just have to say I know and I truly believe. I don't know what it is that you believe, but I believe God has a greater plan for all of us and he works everything together for our good, and I know that this must have been the hardest thing you've ever been through, but just to have that strength and to push through it. There's always another side to things. There's always a way past it.
Speaker 3:Yeah, he, God, has definitely helped me get through this. He um, he keeps shining his light on me and sending me blessings left and right, showing me I'm on the right path. I am doing what I'm supposed to be doing.
Speaker 2:Wow, please tell our listeners um one thing they should remember about recandles LLC. I know I know you've shown many, but the number one thing um all my product is made from natural ingredients.
Speaker 3:Um, the candles soy wax made from natural ingredients. The candles soy wax the fragrance that I use is good for the body. It's safe for the body. My bath essentials are all natural. They're actually designed to help people that have allergic reactions or skin conditions or allergies, anything like that. They're actually geared to help people with those. I actually started the Bath Essentials because of my son. He's allergic to a lot of the store-bought materials, and so I decided to help him and found out I can actually help a lot of people that way too. So if you're looking for a natural alternative at a very affordable rate, look me up, because it'll help you in the long run.
Speaker 2:And where can our listeners go to learn more about Brie Candles LLC?
