EP 287: Only You Bridal: Where European Craftsmanship Meets Texas Convenience

Sophia Yvette

What Makes Dayana Michaylova with Only You Bridal a Good Neighbor?

Ever wondered why finding the perfect wedding dress feels so unnecessarily complicated? Dayana Michaylova did too—and she turned that frustration into a bridal experience that breaks the mold.

On this episode of the Good Neighbor Podcast, we meet the founder behind a boutique that’s rewriting the rules of wedding dress shopping by offering custom-sized gowns that eliminate the dreaded and often costly alterations brides typically face.

Dayana shares how her own disappointing dress search, paired with an unexpected corporate layoff and a pregnancy, became the spark that led her and her mother to launch something truly unique in Colleyville, Texas.

What sets her boutique apart isn’t just its commitment to a perfect fit—it’s the exclusive collaborations with designers from Europe, bringing timeless craftsmanship into every gown. One of Dayana’s most standout innovations? A try-on service that delivers the boutique experience right to a bride’s doorstep, offering comfort, convenience, and a highly personalized touch.

For modern, fashion-forward women who value quality and individuality, this approach is redefining how brides in North Texas find their dream dress.

Dayana also opens up about the delicate balance of motherhood and entrepreneurship, sharing how watching the world through her seven-month-old daughter’s eyes adds fresh joy and perspective to her mission of helping women feel radiant and seen on their special day.

With gowns priced in line with the industry average and options for different budgets, this boutique makes luxury more accessible—without compromising on care or experience.

Speaker 1:

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.

Speaker 2:

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a bridal company? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Diana Mikhailova, with Only you, Bridal Diana, how are you today? I'm doing great, sophia, thank you so much for having me. Yeah, it's a pleasure to have you on and so excited to learn all about you and your business today. Can you start by telling our listeners a little bit about your bridal shop Of?

Speaker 3:

course, I'm Diana Mikhailova, co-founder and CEO of Only you Bridal. We're located in Colleyville, which is just a short drive from Frisco. I co-founded our boutique with my mom, liana Mihailova. At Only your Bridal, we actually specialize in custom-sized wedding gowns tailored to each bride's unique measurements, so you could say we're not the standard cookie-cutter type of boutique. This helps our brides save thousands on alterations and helping them create a stress-free experience. We do believe that bridal gown shopping should be an enjoyable moment rather than something that anybody kind of stresses over. We have partnered with exclusive European designers known for their attention to detail and exceptional craftsmanship, so there is no mass production, no outsourced seams, just quality. We have designers from the United States, bulgaria which is actually where we're originally from Greece, turkey, ukraine and Latvia and, last but not least, we also offer a one-of-a-kind only you experience, which is a luxury at-home wedding gown try-on service, whether at home or a special location. We bring the boutique to the bride so we can create a truly unforgettable and accessible experience for everyone.

Speaker 2:

Wow Now, Diana, who are some of those top designers that you work with when it comes to wedding gowns?

Speaker 3:

So a couple of our favorites are Demetrius. Demetrius is a very well-known US designer, but they're actually originally from Greece, so that's a little unique fact about them. Another one that we absolutely love working with is Aria Bride, which is a Ukrainian designer. They offer full customizations and, honestly, we have not heard a no as far as having special asks by brides if something was possible so far from them. So those are a couple that we absolutely adore. Another one is we have Inga Designs, who's from Latvia. We have Madame Bursu, which is from Turkey, and they offer couture gowns.

Speaker 3:

Really really gorgeous stuff couture gowns, really, really gorgeous stuff. And, of course, we have knowns bridal, which is another Ukrainian design that we have on our hands.

Speaker 2:

So many questions for you today. But getting into it deeper, how did you get into this business originally? Do you have your own Cinderella story you wanted to share?

Speaker 3:

So I wouldn't call it a Cinderella story now but honestly, the idea for Only you Bridal was kind of born from frustration, sprinkled in with some corporate unfortunate story and then a blessing in disguise circumstance. But I guess I won't be coy In 2022, I was getting married myself and as I was looking for my dream gown, I grew increasingly frustrated. Frustrated with the entire process. Everything I tried on was just really expensive. Honestly, the quality was not there, and when I found out that after ordering a dress, it wouldn't even arrive for an entire year and it wouldn't even fit me at the end, that blew my mind and I just couldn't understand why. That was a status quo. So I ended up finding a designer overseas that was able to custom size, order my dress and when it arrived was absolutely amazing. It fit perfect. I didn't need to do anything.

Speaker 3:

So that's kind of when the idea for Only you Bridal was born, I was like why isn't this something that's offered around here? But at the time I had a very comfortable corporate job. So you know, fast forward a couple of years, there was a company acquisition and my position was eliminated. A month later I found out I was pregnant. So, as fate would have it. I, as I found myself looking for another position in the corporate world while with child. I quickly realized that the corporate world was with child. I quickly realized that the corporate world was probably not going to have me back anytime soon. So my mom and I decided to just go for it, without original idea we had, and at while I was six months pregnant, we decided to start the start, bringing only you, bridal, to life. And, yeah, I basically worked until day my water broke, but it was honestly an amazing experience and it's given us a lot of freedom to spend time together and um lots of lessons learned in the process wow, so your child was born into the industry?

Speaker 2:

huh, exactly.

Speaker 3:

What a better way to start right.

Speaker 2:

So, diana, we know marketing is the heart of every business. Who are your target clients?

Speaker 3:

So our brides are most of the time, I would say that they're fashion, forwardforward women that value quality and they want a personal, stress-free experience. Many could be professionals, creatives or just busy mamas who want that great design without having to compromise with anything else. We try to attract our customer base through social media, but mostly word of mouth, and by creating those experiences that brides like to talk about, especially with our at-home wedding gown, try on service. Once someone sees how easy and luxurious it is, they just want it for themselves and refer a friend, which we're always, always, grateful for.

Speaker 2:

Amazing, and have you ever thought about doing your own podcast?

Speaker 3:

funny. You say that I. That was one of the ideas that ran through my head when I was restructuring, restructuring things, uh, in my personal life and trying to decide what to do. And I actually played around with the idea of doing a podcast on the topic of corporate customer success because that was my background and I had a lot of knowledge and I kind of wanted to spread the wealth of knowledge.

Speaker 2:

But passion for fashion won oh, my goodness, I'm right there with you when it comes to passion for fashion. You always got to look your best, right?

Speaker 3:

Absolutely.

Speaker 2:

Now, outside of work, when you're not a mama and you're not running around helping brides look their best, what do you do for fun?

Speaker 3:

Oh, to be honest with you, right now, everything I do for fun is actually evolving around my seven-month-old Just because she is growing so rapidly. Any moment I can spend with her, I do. I was chatting with Mother of the Bride just a week ago. We were talking about developmental milestones and how fast babies grow and she made a really funny joke. She was like you know, we spent the first couple of years teaching our little ones how to talk and walk and then the rest of their lives trying to tell them to be quiet and sit down.

Speaker 1:

I laughed so hard and.

Speaker 3:

But it made me realize it's so true, they grow up so fast and so I try to kind of live in the moment, live, live in the blank, because she's Just experiencing the world for the first time and I get to do it right by her side and it's just fascinating. So most of my free time is spent with her just doing new little activities that bring her joy. Like we went to the aquarium. It was the most amazing. I've never been to an aquarium.

Speaker 2:

It feels like until I went with her, everything was just all inspiring like until I went with her, everything was just all inspiring. So, oh yeah, it's really those first in life that you know are the most near and dear to our heart.

Speaker 3:

Exactly Now. She never knew love before I met her.

Speaker 3:

Now Diana, please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about only you, bridal. One thing to remember about only you, bridal, I would say that wedding dress shopping doesn't have to be overwhelming or impersonal. So, at only you, bridal, combine, as I like to say, old world craftsmanship with modern convenience. So whether you want to come into our boutique or have us come to you, we focus on the customer. Our internal company motto is actually serve the customer. Well, I took that from my corporate background and I kind of live by that.

Speaker 3:

So every bride does deserve to feel beautiful and seen, and that's what we deliver, and I would say a very reasonable prices too.

Speaker 2:

I was just gonna ask you about the elephant in the room. Can you discuss budgeting when we talk about wedding dresses?

Speaker 3:

Absolutely Very, very reasonable question. So the standard I guess in the bridal world they say the average amount spent on a wedding gown by most brides is around $2,000. So we try to offer a wide variety of options for to be able to actually hit many brides budgets so we can help anybody be able to create that special moment and have them say yes to the dress as some like to say and where can our listeners go to learn more about?

Speaker 3:

Only you, bridal, I know where can our listeners go to learn more about only you bridal? So they can visit us at only you bridalcom. And that's only Y O U. We're not hip enough for just the?
