EP 293: Executive Medicine: Where Luxury Healthcare Meets Family Treatment
What makes Judy Gaman with Executive Medicine of Texas a good neighbor?
The traditional healthcare model isn’t working for many of us—rushed visits, long waits, and doctors focused more on screens than people have become the norm. But Judy Gaman, CEO of Executive Medicine of Texas, is changing the story.
Born from two physicians’ frustration with the “HMO treadmill,” Judy’s Southlake-based practice serves everyone from Fortune 500 executives to families seeking personalized, attentive care. Concierge medicine isn’t just for celebrities; it’s for busy professionals who value time and know that health is priceless.
Unlike typical doctors who schedule months out, Executive Medicine offers immediate access and a half-day executive physical that screens over 100 health markers, cognitive and physical function. They translate complex medical data into clear visuals and craft tailored plans—whether you want to climb Kilimanjaro or just climb stairs without getting winded.
If you’re ready for healthcare where you’re treated like family, where staff remember your name and goals, and your doctor actually sits down with you over coffee to listen, then Executive Medicine of Texas is here for you.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an Executive Medicine of Texas company with age management? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, judy Gammon, ceo of Executive Medicine of Texas. Judy, how are you today?
Speaker 3:I'm great. Thank you so much for having me on Sophia.
Speaker 2:Yeah, it's a pleasure to have you on and we're so excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you start by telling our listeners a little bit about your company?
Speaker 3:Sure, so we're actually celebrating 20 years in business here at Executive Medicine of Texas. We're based in Southlake, but our patients come to us from all over the globe. We service Fortune 500 companies, fortune 100 companies, but also individuals that are really seeking an executive luxury medicine type, concierge practice or age management. So we're helping people live longer every day.
Speaker 2:Amazing. And so, judy, how did you originally get into this business?
Speaker 3:Well, it's kind of interesting because our founders, dr Walter Gammon and Mark Anderson they actually were on the what I like to call the HMO treadmill and nobody was winning. The doctors weren't winning. The doctors weren't winning, the patients weren't winning. It was, it was literally a rat race and maybe the insurance companies were winning, but they literally sat down with a napkin and said if we wanted to do medicine the way we thought we were going to be able to do medicine when we went to medical school, when we dreamed of being doctors, what would that look like? And they just made a list. You know, first of all, they treat every patient like family. They would spend as much time as needed to get to the bottom of what the patient's issue was. They wouldn't fight with insurance companies. They would literally say what does this patient need, what can I provide for them and how quickly can I get it done for them? And that was the birth of executive medicine.
Speaker 2:Wow, Now what is the most common myth or misconception you come across in your industry?
Speaker 3:Well, I think a lot of people think concierge medicine and they say, oh, that's for the rich and famous. And that's not necessarily true. Now, while we see celebrities and we see all kinds of high net worth individuals, we also see a lot of families. We've put in a family concierge because we understand that busy individuals really value their time. Time is money and especially like entrepreneurs, where a lot of times they're working in their business and on their business at the same time.
Speaker 3:And when they call the traditional doctor's office and say, hey, I got a problem I need to be seen, and they say, okay, how about next Tuesday at 10 o'clock? Well, that doesn't work for me. Well, that's going to be six months, and so really, for that we're solving this problem of not just access but the ability to be able to sit down, literally sit down with your doctor. Our executive exam rooms actually have two chairs on the table as well as an exam table, because most of the conversation happens sitting across from that patient, maybe sipping on a little bit of coffee or tea or just having a cold drink, and really getting to the bottom of you. Know why are you here? What are your health concerns? What are your goals. You know what do you want to accomplish and how can our team really rally around you and help you do that.
Speaker 2:Now we know marketing is the heart of every business. So, Judy, how do you currently market your business? And typically, let's get more into those demographics of your typical clients.
Speaker 3:Yeah for sure. So for us we've been very fortunate and part of this is our longevity here in the community and our relationship with our corporate clients that our marketing really a lot of what we do is if we treat our patients right and we're giving them the service that they really want, they do the marketing for us. So much of our business actually comes from referral sources. We have this wonderful gentleman who sent us probably upwards of 50 different people and some of them literally call and say I sat next to this guy on a flight to Dubai and he said I have to call you. Or I was on the golf course and I was talking to this other gentleman. Or hey, I was at the spa and this lady happened to mention she comes there.
Speaker 3:And it's just amazing that we have fans you know that really not just appreciate the service that we have, but the people there within the company. If you, if you look at our reviews and we have a lot of reviews, we have five-star rating but you look at the reviews, they don't just mention the doctors. They're like I love the staff, oh my gosh, that nurse is the best nurse. Or or I love the receptionist, which, by the way we call the director of first impressions. So they really have have got to experience a place that they can come and people really all get to know them. One patient calls it the cheers bar without alcohol. Everybody knows your name, they know your kids, they know your goals and we're all just here to help you achieve that.
Speaker 2:Wow, that's so amazing. And, judy, it sounds like you have a wealth of knowledge about your industry. Have you ever thought of having your own podcast?
Speaker 3:Actually, it sounds like you have a wealth of knowledge about your industry. Have you ever thought of having your own podcast? Actually, it's funny. You mentioned that we had a nationally syndicated radio show for years and we were on Sirius XM, and we do have a podcast called Stay Young America. So on Stay Young America, we've covered a variety of topics over the years and it's amazing to me that the ability to take information today's age and get that out to people who may never know you, may never hear you. We've covered topics like diabetes and heart disease. We've also covered topics like the loneliness epidemic. We've had leading scientists on our show, we've had celebrities bestselling authors, and it really has been a growing tool for us as well. I host it with two of our founders, both medical doctors, and really we've learned so much from our guests and it's just helped us not just bring the information to our patients but, like I said, bring it across the globe and to educate the masses.
Speaker 2:Wow, Well, I definitely can relate with you there. Now let's go ahead and get into one thing you would like our listeners to take away from executive medicine of Texas today.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I think that the biggest thing is the misconception that when you go to the doctor, that if you happen to walk in the office and even if they draw blood, the assumption is I saw the doctor, he didn't say anything, I'm fine, and what we have found is that's so much of a small part of health. A lot of times when you go to the doctor, maybe they're doing a blood count or chemistry panel. When you come in for something like an executive physical, you're here with us for a half of the day and we're doing over 100 different lab values. We're checking your cognition, we're looking at your posture, we're looking at your cognitive abilities and testing that. We're really getting down to all of these things, the whole picture of what does your health really look like, you know? And how do we show you in black and white and in graphs and everything else, what your health status is? Here's where you are and how can we help you get better.
Speaker 3:And what are the goals? You know, sometimes the goal is I want to be able to go climb Kilimanjaro. Sometimes the goal is I just want to walk up the stairs at work and not be out of breath. Or you know what? I just lost my mojo or my libido is down. You know, it really depends on what that particular patient, what they want, what their needs are, and then being able to also say, okay, here's where you are and here's where we can get you together as we partner with you and we team up with you. And that's really what this practice is all about. It's about that team approach, with the patient themselves being at the center of that. You have all these advocates. They're really driving your personal success in your health.
Speaker 2:And where can our listeners go to learn more about Executive Medicine of Texas?
Speaker 3:Yeah, they can go to emtexascom. It's an executive medicine emtexascom.
