This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Speaker 2:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a lighting company? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, austin Long, with Casting Lights. Austin, how's it been going today?
Speaker 3:It's been going pretty good. How about yourself?
Speaker 2:Great, it's been going good here too. Now we're excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you start off by telling our listeners just a little bit about your company?
Speaker 3:Yeah, so my company is called Casting Lights. We do Christmas lights permit lighting for commercial and residential landscape lighting. That goes with that. You could control with your phone, and then also event lighting.
Speaker 2:Amazing. And how did you and your wife, since she works with you, to get into this business?
Speaker 3:so we were. We had a pest control business that we ran, uh, with our sister company and, uh, we needed something that was more off, often the seasonal point, so we had to figure something out. And then we started doing this and then got really into it, especially the permanent lighting part, and from there it's just been ongoing.
Speaker 2:Now, in your industry, what is the most common myth or misconception you typically get?
Speaker 3:Well I'll say with the Christmas lights is that all lights are the same and it's not the professional lights do matter. They are much safer. Do matter, they are much safer. On the permanent light spectrum there is so many different things that you can do that is saturated with a lot of different companies that have different applications. So the way we feel is that if you do the best and use the best product, you don't have to really worry about everybody else.
Speaker 2:Now we know marketing is the heart of every business. How are you currently marketing your business and who are your target clients, customers or audience, and who are your target clients, customers or audience.
Speaker 3:So the way we're marketing is through Google. We're doing trade shows. We're doing yard signs, door hangers, just about anything that we can Facebook, we're doing it. So, as far as target audiences really just people with families that want to enjoy their their part in running with lights um, that's our target audience Anybody with a family that wants to just have community with their family.
Speaker 2:And have you guys ever thought of having your very own podcast?
Speaker 3:We have thought about it and I'd say it's a good opportunity. I've done something personally as a podcast, but it is in the works of thinking about doing a podcast.
Speaker 2:Outside of work. What do you and your family like to do for fun?
Speaker 3:So we do a lot of sports fishing I absolutely love fishing and then go on the beach when we can that fishing and then go on the beach when we can Now please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about casting lights that we're pretty much that, are your one shot need for anything that's kind of outside lighting.
Speaker 3:If it's something small, don't sweat it. We'll come and try to figure out the best option for you. Um, it could just be fixing a light that you've been having troubles with in your garden. We can do it. So, uh, that's something you need to look, look for.
Speaker 2:Well, Austin, I know what our listeners really want to know today is where can they go to learn more about casting lights.
Speaker 3:Yeah, so, uh. So castinglightscom is a great place. Um, you can always call 903-286-7025. That leads directly to us. Um, but you can also check us out on Facebook. Um, we'll have Instagram, YouTube later on, but those are the best places right now.
