EP 374: Faith, Music, And A Wedding That Feels Right
What makes Jaime Chavez with Ambiance Entertainment LLC a good neighbor?
What if your wedding didn’t just look perfect, but actually felt perfect—moment to moment, from the welcome to the last dance? That’s the heart of our conversation with Jaime Chavez of Ambiance Entertainment, a bilingual Dallas DJ and master of ceremonies with forty years of experience and a rare blend of technical rigor and human warmth.
We dive into Jaime’s unlikely path from IBM and AT&T engineering to full-time entertainment, guided by faith and a commitment to serve couples with care. He breaks down why a great DJ is never “just a playlist,” revealing the four pillars of his craft: precise mixing, thoughtful MC work, genuine entertainment, and seamless collaboration with planners and vendors. You’ll hear how he personalizes timelines and transitions, reads the room in real time, and strikes the balance that makes guests laugh, cry, and dance without turning the night into a show about the DJ.
Jaime also shares his vision for the future: building AI tools for the DJ industry that support preparation and logistics while preserving the irreplaceable human skill of sensing energy and telling a story with music. We talk ideal clients, cultural mixing, first-dance strategy, and why the best celebrations center presence over spectacle. Most of all, Jaime returns to a single promise—care. He insists no one will care about a couple’s experience more than they do, except him, and he backs that up with white-glove prep and intentional hosting.
If you’re planning a wedding or curious about what separates a true professional from a playlist, this conversation will sharpen your eye and calm your nerves. Subscribe for more local stories, share this with a friend who’s engaged, and leave a review to tell us the one song you’d trust to fill the dance floor.

This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
SPEAKER_00:Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a DJ? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Jaime Chavez with Ambiance Entertainment. Jaime, how are you today?
SPEAKER_02:I'm doing very well. How are you doing?
SPEAKER_00:I'm good. Well, we are excited to learn all about you and your business. Can you start out by telling us a little bit about your company?
SPEAKER_02:So my company is Ambiance Entertainment. I actually started DJing 40 years ago. How old are you, Sophia?
SPEAKER_00:Never ask a woman here.
SPEAKER_02:Never ask a female, right? So I've actually been a DJ for 40 years this year, so I'm pretty excited. Uh, I think the last 21, 22 years, I've been full-time here in Dallas. Uh I always joke and I say I sidelined as an electrical engineer for 22 years. So I'm a former IBM ATT uh engineer, but now I've been a full-time DJ 22 years, but a total of 40 years that I've been DJing.
SPEAKER_00:Wow. Now, how in the world did you jump into the DJ business?
SPEAKER_02:So I literally had a dream when I was like 15 years old. I had a dream that I was DJing for our most popular high school dance. And we used to have high school dances in San Antonio every month. So I had a dream that I saw a poster board, like we used to advertise everything in high school, that talked about our dance, and then it said DJ Jaime Chavez, right? And it's read Sphinx Music Mobile. So here's a little weird tangent, right? I've always liked Egyptology. So in my dream, it read Sphinx Music Mobile. So that's what I actually called this business when I was 15 years old.
SPEAKER_00:Wow. Now I must ask you, did you pray before you had this dream?
SPEAKER_02:It's crazy that you asked that question. I'm very interested while you asked that question. But I think a lot of my life, I'm a very, very heavily faith-oriented person. And just about everything that's happened into my life has been revealed to me or something along those lines. And I've actually studied that a lot. I'm very active in the church, blah, blah, blah, all that kind of stuff. But all of the moves in my life have happened with through my faith. Like when I left corporate America, I was literally, I have received communion. I went to the back of the church and I was praying. And we had just heard about the parting of the seas. And as I was praying, I heard like, hey, go in the most unlikely direction. So picture if you were being chased by an army, would you go straight to the ocean where you don't have any other place to go? Or would you run into the mountains, trap yourself in there, right? Uh try to hide in a cave, hide in a tree or something. They ran straight towards the ocean. But if you go there with all your faith, you're gonna see that something is going to open up for you. And once I had that dream, I actually left a very successful engineering career. Uh, to I I didn't know I was gonna become a DJ, but that wouldn't follow. So, but it's interesting. Why did you ask about faith? I love that.
SPEAKER_00:Because everything that I do, I base off the foundation that God has brought me up with. Now, I would love to go deeper into this, but I know we have to get to the roots of your business. So, what is the most common myth or misconception in your industry?
SPEAKER_02:So, so I think most people think like, yeah, I think when iPods and iPhones came out, all that kind of stuff, people decided, oh, we'll have our own wedding and we'll just use our phone, we'll put an iPod on. But the notion of anybody can push a button, right? Anyone can build a playlist, that's kind of a misconception that most people have. But when you start to look at it from a more tenured perspective, I look at it like a quadrant of things. I'm a professional DJ, first and foremost, I'm a professional master of ceremonies, I'm a professional entertainer, right? And I'm kind of a like a coordinator, not like a wedding coordinator, but more like a team player. And I think about personalizing your wedding, I think about music for your wedding, I think about entertainment for your wedding, and I think about the itinerary. So it's a lot more sophisticated than just showing up and pressing a button so that people can dance.
SPEAKER_00:Amen. Well, I think definitely when you're walking in your purpose, which it sounds like you are, God will always back up his plan.
SPEAKER_02:Another misconception is that when people call a DJ to hire a DJ, I think DJs think that the prospective client wants to hear about them. But what they really want to know is how you are gonna be the person who is not going to ruin their wedding, how you're gonna be the person who's gonna fulfill all the things that they need. So a typical DJ is just gonna try to sell themselves and years of experience and equipment and lighting and all these other things. But what they really want is the peace of mind that somebody's gonna create an experience of their lives that they'll never forget.
SPEAKER_00:Most definitely. Now we know marketing is the heart of every business. Who are your target clients, customers, or audience? And in terms of marketing today, how do you attract them?
SPEAKER_02:So I think my ideal client is a person who is very well adjusted. I want a DJ for weddings that I believe in, right? People who are truly in love, people who want to celebrate their lives, they want to celebrate their families, they want to celebrate all these things. And they are confident, they're open, they're vulnerable, and we're gonna share stories and we're going to joke and we're gonna say really sweet and sentimental things because if you can make people laugh and cry at their wedding or any event, you've had a very, very successful day. So uh my ideal client is that type of person, not the person who wants a big show, right? A lot of people want the big wow, I want everyone to look at how beautiful my wedding was. I want the client who understands or has an idea what they want their wedding to be. So it's about being present, it's about being in love, activating love, creating emotional connection.
SPEAKER_00:Most definitely, most definitely. And I think being a part of that is must be such a powerful experience.
SPEAKER_02:It is truly an honor to DJ for people, and I believe that if my clients are amazing, God wants them to have an amazing wedding, and God happened to choose me to be at their amazing wedding so that I have nothing to worry about because He's He's in charge.
SPEAKER_00:Well, and your wedding should be enjoyable. I mean, ideally speaking, it should only be once, and it should be with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
SPEAKER_02:Yes, a hundred percent.
SPEAKER_00:Now, switching gears a bit here, Jaime, have you ever thought about having your own podcast?
SPEAKER_02:Oh, I have. I have. It's just a lot of work, but I'm allocating time right now because I'm actually building artificial intelligence for the DJ industry. So that's where a lot of my focus is, and a podcast would just require a lot of time. So thank you, Sophia, for having me on your good neighbor podcast.
SPEAKER_00:Now, please tell our listeners one thing they should remember about Ambiance Entertainment LLC.
SPEAKER_02:Ambiance Entertainment. I think the most important thing I love to tell my clients like there's not gonna be anybody who cares about your wedding more than you and me. Right? And I if I could get in front of a stage of 10,000, 100,000 DJs, and I could only use one word, I would recommend that they care. So I will handle that with white gloves if if I'm honored to be your DJ, your MC, your entertainer.
SPEAKER_00:Now, where can our listeners go to learn more about Ambiance Entertainment?
SPEAKER_02:Well, they can find me on Instagram, Facebook, WeddingWire. Go down the list. If they look up bilingual DJ Dallas, you'll probably see about 10 different places to find me. But uh, I can be pretty easily found.
SPEAKER_00:Well, Jaime, I really appreciate you being on the show today. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.
SPEAKER_02:Likewise, Sophia. Thank you for having me.
