What makes Jeff Nevarez with TechXperts.guru a good neighbor?

Jeff believes technology should reduce stress, not create it. In this episode, we sit down with the founder of TechXperts.guru to explore a human first approach to small business IT that prioritizes availability, clarity, and trust. Whether it is a printer failure in the middle of the night or a laptop crashing before an important pitch, Jeff explains why fast response and plain language matter more than technical jargon. His journey from law school plans to building a 24 hour IT support business reflects a deeper commitment to family life, community, and sustainable growth.

We dive into the real state of artificial intelligence and why many tools marketed as AI are better understood as sophisticated software. Jeff shares how business owners can evaluate technology by outcomes rather than buzzwords, focusing on shorter workflows, fewer errors, and lower costs. From optimizing a baseball card grading pipeline to helping clients with everyday network, printer, and website issues, the message is consistent. Technology should fit your work and stay out of the way.

The conversation also explores how TechXperts.guru grows without forcing a narrow niche. Jeff talks about showing up in the community through local news streams, city service, and relationship based visibility, and how staying close to real problems leads to better solutions. For entrepreneurs, especially parents, he offers a grounded playbook that includes shaking hands, joining local chambers and clubs, leading with generosity, and building systems that allow the business to eventually support your life rather than consume it.

If you are choosing an IT partner, Jeff highlights three markers that matter most. True availability, explanations you can actually understand, and a willingness to help without nickel and diming. If you want calmer systems and support that simply works, this conversation offers a practical place to start.

SPEAKER_00

Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of an IT company? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today, I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Jeff Navarez, with TechExperts.guru. Jeff, how are you today?

SPEAKER_01

I'm fantastic. Thanks for allowing me here.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, now we are excited to learn all about you and your unique business. Can you start off by telling us a little bit about your company?

SPEAKER_01

Sure. We're a one-stop small shop for any small business out there for any IT support or a 24-hour business. So anytime that you work, we work as well. And what that really means is anything that has to do with you and internet or your computer, your printer, your network, your website, whatever you you need that is IT related, we offer those services for you in a 24-hour business.

Jeff’s Pivot From Law To Tech

SPEAKER_00

Wow. Now, Jeff, how did you originally get started in this industry?

SPEAKER_01

Sure, yeah, I went and finished my degree uh at UTA finally in my life in my later 20s. I just had my first daughter, and uh I was gonna go to law school. Uh and so I went and took my LSATs and I did well, but I I went home and I cried a little and I took a nap and I woke up and I had a heart to heart with God. I was like, God, you know, I'd be a great attorney. I know I will, but how do I be a stay-at-home dad? And at this point in my life, I had walked away from IT for about 10 years at this point and just didn't want to do it at the Doc Commerce went out of business. And uh he said very clearly in my head, why aren't you doing IT? Um, and I said, Fine. And I started, I think it was like a month or two later, I got a phone call from a lawyer who had a a server with three computers in his office, and I was like, Why would you do that to yourself? And it started a company where we were going out there and defending, I guess, against other make IT companies that might take advantage, which a lot of them don't, but um, just in case they can take advantage, we we kind of minimalize things, and so it just snowballed into this company that was originally for attorneys. It was called uh tech law, and then I realized people were like, Oh, you're not an attorney, and I'm like, No, I'm not. So uh we rebranded to tech experts.guru. That way we can uh do what we did for attorneys for everybody, it applies to all small business.

Debunking AI Hype And Reality

SPEAKER_00

Wow, what an interesting background you come from. Now, being in this industry today, what is the most common myth or misconception in your industry you come across?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, and I get a unique perspective of this because of all the different services we offer. But right now, the hottest item is is the AI. AI is taking over, AI is everywhere, and and and just factually, what's out there is not AI. And there's really not a program that is functional out there that is true AI, which is a program that learns its own mistakes and just like we do, um, or or a semi-u-regulated consciousness. But there's three companies out there that, and one of them just got bought up by the other one that are doing AI programming, but none of them have produced anything. So the things that we get and we see out there are more of a marketing tool. They're just really great programs with good language models or or a good QA model, is what is what it really comes down to. And they're AI kind of functionality, but if it doesn't learn, it's not true AI. So I wouldn't be freaking out, it's just a hot marketing uh item right now that's out there that's kind of just kind of tricking everybody, I guess. But it's good that it's being integrated and pushing forward um to make life easier.

Who They Serve And How They Help

SPEAKER_00

Yes, most definitely. Now we know marketing is the heart of every business. So who are your target customers today and how do you attract them?

Community Media, Civic Work, And Live Streams

SPEAKER_01

Sure. They say in my field, and we've been doing it seven years, that you should niche down, you know, specialize in Joe Cessio for attorneys or whatever. But for me, marketing is marketing and it applies to everybody. Um, so for us, any client that just needs any IT services, uh, or just a just a company's been around for 16 years. I have clients who just call me just for talk business, like a business mentorship. Uh, we're we're happy to talk business and see how IT or or technology can make it smoother or or move it along. We're currently creating a program, for example, for a baseball grading company to make their process faster so they can take in more more grading cards. And and so technology is out there, it's everywhere. It's it's we're using it right now on this podcast, it's in my hand on my phone. You know, what you like is it makes our lives easier. It's definitely not going anywhere.

SPEAKER_00

Now, have you ever thought about having your own podcast before?

SPEAKER_01

Uh I own the Kendadel News, so I kind of do that with the news here. We do like a local QA during elections, and then I go around and I introduce businesses live on Facebook. And we do, I'm involved, I'm a city councilman here, so I do a lot of the events, so it's easy for me to maneuver between all the different school events and city events and and church events and do a live broadcast because I'm there anyways as a city leader.

SPEAKER_00

And on that note, what do you and your family like to decide of work?

Family Life And Building Flexibility

SPEAKER_01

Uh what do we do? Well, I family do we we love to travel, we love going down surfside around Memorial Day weekend. We do that every year as tradition. Uh my family's kind of spread out. My wife, of course, we've been together coming up 17 years, and then uh we have four beautiful children, three daughters, one boy. My oldest is a freshman in Sam Houston State, and my youngest is a kindergartner. So I have the spread. Um, but that was one of the deals I made with God when I started this company is how can I be a stay-at-home dad and provide for my family? And so I've had the benefit of raising them until they're going to school. And when they get home from school, we play some Minecraft, or you know, one of my kids is an anime, so we get to relate to that. So I'm pretty close to our family, but for fun, that's we just like to hang out lately with playing Uno a lot. Um, and and and that's been kind of fun, especially when we had our oldest home for Christmas.

SPEAKER_00

Amen. Well, it sounds like you're certainly living the dream, as they say.

SPEAKER_01

Now I hope so.

SPEAKER_00

Now, for our listeners here who may be looking for a IT company that they can trust, what words of wisdom do you really have for them that you want them to take away from today's interview?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think uh availability, uh that's why we're 24 hours and you know, nationwide. Uh, I think that's always because you never know when the you know, in the middle of the night you're writing that essay for school tomorrow and it disappears. That's been a phone call in my 16 years in business. So just you or somebody at a hotel and their laptop's freaking out and they have to go to a big meeting in the morning. That's happened to me just a couple years ago. So you just never know. So availability, I think, is good there. I think somebody explains it in a simple way to you as well, which I think I'm very good at. Um, and I think people willing to go over the phone and say, hey, just press this, press this, and they don't charge you. I I think that that kind of mentality too. And that's just kind of the approach we have the business. We're we're like we're on your team, but you we're not in your books. You know, when you need us, give us a call, we'll be there. But I like being a part of that team. I feel like we're I have we have a conversation or say about what goes on there. Um, and that's uh just how tech experts approach that business model.

SPEAKER_00

And Jeff, since you have figured out how to be a stay-at-home parent and run a business, what words of wisdom do you have for maybe the parents listening today?

SPEAKER_01

Sure. Uh it just get out there, you it gives you a little bit more time to do the shake the hands. Every every small business starts out, you get the first three or three years of hitting the pavement, is what I call it. Going to the Rotary Clubs of Chumber Rotarian, going to the Chamber of Commerces, going to the meet and greets, and just going out there and shaking hands and making those connections. You have that availability. You're not stuck into a time clock. Now, any business owner will tell you they work more, but we own our hours. So when and when and how and why, and uh, and that's what the difference is. So, and eventually, though, you'll get to a point where you don't want uh the business work for the business, you want the business to work for you. And that was a lesson that I I learned um through a business, a friend of mine that I grew up with who was a business mentor of mine. He's the one that taught me that that business. So from there, the sky's the limit because the business functions and you can start another business or or expand or go back to school. And I know a lot of business owners who do that or stay home with your kids and enjoy that time. Um, so do what you love and you have the time if you're if you're at home with your kids, and and like it's America, it can absolutely turn into a business here.
