What makes Bob Kehr with Kehr Technologies a good neighbor?
Think your business is too small to be a target? Bob Kehr of Kehr Technologies sets the record straight and lays out a practical path to strong cybersecurity without slowing down your team. From real firewalls to cloud behavioral analytics, Bob explains the tools and habits that protect productivity, catch account takeovers early, and turn chaotic IT into a stable, local partnership you can actually reach by phone.
We dig into how modern attacks leverage automation and AI to scan for weaknesses across any connected organization—and why that makes professional services, clinics, law firms, construction companies, insurance agencies, and nonprofits especially exposed. Bob shares the minimum security stack he recommends for 10–200 employee teams: edge protection, patching tied to asset inventory, endpoint detection with rollback, email security that reduces human error, and backups that are regularly tested for fast restore. He also details how a strong incident response plan—revoking tokens, isolating devices, and rolling back changes within minutes—can stop a bad day from becoming a breach headline.
Beyond the technology, we talk about service. Kehr Technologies has been Plano-based since 2003, and that local presence changes everything. Real people answer the phone, know your environment, and solve problems quickly. Bob’s education-first outreach—including monthly recordings on practical, business-focused topics—helps leaders fund the right priorities and ask sharper questions about identity, access, and recovery. He also shares his commitment to the community as a newly elected member of the Plano City Council, bridging civic service with technology stewardship.

Meet Care Technologies
SPEAKER_00This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of IT services? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today, I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Bob Kerr with Care Technologies. Bob, how are you today?
SPEAKER_02I'm doing great. How are you doing this afternoon?
SPEAKER_01I am also doing great. Now we are so excited today to learn all about you and your business. Please start off by telling our listeners just a little bit about your company and your background.
Why Small Firms Are Targeted
SPEAKER_02My company Care Technologies, we are a managed services IT company, which means other businesses outsource their IT to us, and we just take care of everything from networking to cabling to help desk, Microsoft, that sort of thing. We are based in Plano, Texas. When you call, you speak to someone here in Plano. We've been around since 2003, so we're in this for quite some time. We love serving our customers, and we are always gracious with our customers and make sure they can ask us any questions they'd like.
SPEAKER_01So, Bob, as we all know, technology can be a very frustrating thing. So, where does your heart for this business come from?
SPEAKER_02No, it really is about helping people to be productive. That's really what it boils down to for me. And I do that by taking business solutions and helping customers apply those in their own business so they can be both protected as well as highly productive.
SPEAKER_01And in terms of protection for your customers, what is the most common myth or misconception with what it takes to protect your technology?
Practical Security Must-Haves
SPEAKER_02You know, oftentimes a small company will think that they are not at risk, that the bad guys are not going to try to attack them. And that just isn't true. If you have an internet connection, you're vulnerable. If you have a business, you're vulnerable, particularly with AI. It's so easy to find a business out there and just attack with without regard of how large they are, because it doesn't really cost them any money to really attack someone. And the the best thing to do is be sure that you are looking at your your internet connection, make sure it's protected with a firewall. It is also important that you apply behavioral analysis of all your cloud solutions. What that does is make sure that if someone gets into your cloud connection, that uh it gets detected and gets shut down. Because uh in the cloud, you're able to be attacked from any place at any time.
Ideal Clients And Outreach
SPEAKER_01Wow, my goodness. Now let's switch gears. We know marketing is the heart of every business. So who are some of your target customers? And in terms of your online footprints, how do you stay in front of them?
SPEAKER_02So our ideal customer is a business that has 10 to 200 employees. Uh, they tend to be professional, things like medical and legal. Although we have um construction and insurance and uh other verticals like that. Nonprofits are one of our biggest uh customers. Uh they're most important to us because we we have a really heart for the community. Um, the way we stay in front of them, we actually are doing uh podcasts, we're recording, we're talking about the latest technology, uh applicable things to your business, so it isn't just something that's abstract. It's we're talking about real solutions for real customers.
SPEAKER_01Now, Bob, I know you said you are doing podcasts, but have you ever thought of having your own podcast for the business?
SPEAKER_02You know, I am currently doing that. Uh I have it uh mostly through YouTube. Um, so we've been recording uh monthly sessions.
SPEAKER_01Amazing. Now, outside of work, what do you and your family like to do for fun?
SPEAKER_02Well, what keeps me busy these days is uh city council. I'm newly elected to Plano City Council in May of 2025, and uh my wife and I, we actually are very active in the community. So if I'm not working, you'll probably find me at some meeting, uh some community event, or at City Council.
Local Support And Key Takeaway
SPEAKER_01Wow. Now, switching back to your business for a second, what is the number one takeaway you would like our listeners to gather from learning about care technologies today?
SPEAKER_02The most important thing is you you can find someone local who can help you. And it's gonna it's an easy phone call. It is not frustrating like calling a big company. We answer the phone, we know what your what your business is about, and we we care about your business, and so we will just take care of you. It's very simple and it's actually quite cost effective. A high level of security and a high level of support is available at a very cost-effective rate.
Where To Learn More
SPEAKER_01Well, high level of security and support is always necessary. Now, final question for you today, Bob. Where can our listeners go to learn more about care technologies?
SPEAKER_02You can probably our website is the best place to go. It's carech.com, k-e-h-r te-c.com.
SPEAKER_01Well, Bob, I really appreciate you being on the show today. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.
