What makes Ruby Ben with Purple Renovations and Remodeling a good neighbor?
Remodeling can feel like a leap of faith, and most of the fear isn’t about tile or paint. It’s about whether the contractor will communicate, manage the details, and handle problems without turning your home into chaos. We sit down with Ruby Ben from Purple Renovations to talk about what a well run renovation actually requires and why they describe their work as being “vision executors.” If you’ve ever saved a Pinterest inspiration photo and wondered how it becomes a real kitchen or bathroom, this conversation is for you.
Ruby shares how she and her husband Avi moved to Frisco, Texas, bought a house, started updating it, and then turned that hands-on momentum into a remodeling and construction business. Along the way, she points straight at the reputation issue in the contracting world and explains what separates a smooth home remodel from a stressful one: project management, quality control, clear expectations, and steady communication when surprises happen.
We also get into how Purple Renovations attracts clients through organic traffic and word of mouth, and why that kind of growth depends on trust and consistent results. Ruby closes with a grounded takeaway for business owners and homeowners alike: building anything worthwhile is hard, but you get better when you extract the lesson from every challenge and keep moving.
If you found this helpful, subscribe for more conversations with local business owners, share this episode with a neighbor planning a renovation, and leave a review so more people can find the show. What’s the first project you’d tackle in your home?

Welcome To Good Neighbor Podcast
SPEAKER_00This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
Meet Ruby Ben Of Purple
SPEAKER_02Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in need of a remodeling company? Well, one may be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Ruby Ben with Purple Renovations. Ruby, it is lovely having you on this morning, and we are so excited to learn about your business today. So please start off by telling our listeners just a little bit more about your company.
SPEAKER_01Well, thank you. First of all, thank you, Sophia, for having me. Very excited. It is a lovely morning. So Purple Renovation is uh basically remodeling and construction company owned by my amazing husband and myself. We focus on residential projects, but we also do commercial. Most of our projects, you know, include the usual kitchens, bathroom, full home remodels. But um what I like to really call us are vision executors. We will not say no to anything the customer wants to do, basically. Whatever the customer wants, whatever vision he has, whatever Pinterest image he wants to create, um, if there's a budget for it, we will create that vision.
The Move To Texas Origin Story
SPEAKER_02Wow, wonderful. Now, getting into your backstory, you know, how did you both originally come up with the idea for this business and get into this industry?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we get this uh question quite a lot. So basically, Avi and I just moved here to Texas about five and a half years ago. Uh, we chose Frisco, Texas very, very randomly. Um, but we bought a house and Avi started uh working and updating the house because that's what he does. Avi can do really anything. Uh so he started working on the house, and we also um thought about ways to create income, and I came up with the idea of just doing a remodeling um company. So I just said I'm just gonna create a website because um we knew the industry, we knew the the industry, the contractors specifically have a bad rep, and we wanted to change that. So just deciding I'm gonna do a website and we'll just see how it goes. And here we are five years later.
SPEAKER_02Now, Ruby, getting into that bad rep for a second, you know, what is that most common misconception you come across in your industry?
SPEAKER_01So a lot, a lot of the times what I hear is just most contractors are the same, and the only care, the only difference is pricing, and then most are just trying to reap you off. Um and price obviously reflects a lot of things. Um, it often reflects like project management or quality control communication and how problems are handled during a project. So remodeling is complex, and a well-run project usually requires a lot more than behind the scenes that people realize.
Organic Marketing And Word Of Mouth
SPEAKER_02Understood. Now, let's switch gears to growth for a second. Now, we do know that marketing is the heart of every business. So, today, you know, who are some of your target clients or customers, and how are you attracting them?
SPEAKER_01Honestly, uh, it's just organic. Um, a lot of homeowners mostly, as I said, we do a lot of residentials, so it's a lot of homeowners who just want to update their home, buying new homes, or uh updating their the current house that they live in. Um, a lot of organic traffic and uh word of mouth, really.
SPEAKER_02Now, for you personally, have you ever thought about having your own podcast for the business?
SPEAKER_01I actually did. Uh, it is it has crossed my mind. I'm thinking about it. I'm not ready yet, uh, but maybe, maybe in the future.
SPEAKER_02Now, circling back to your business here, you know, what is the number one takeaway you would like our listeners to gather from learning about purple renovations?
SPEAKER_01Well, building a business is hard. Obviously, every business has its challenges. Um what I think what we try to do is to learn from everything, the good and the bad, the bad, quote unquote. We whatever whatever challenge we face, whatever going on, we try to extract extract the lesson and move on with it and build on that. So I think that's what sets us apart, but that's something that we try really hard to do.
SPEAKER_02Now, final question: where could our listeners go to learn more about purple renovations?
SPEAKER_01Well, we have our website, obviously, purplerenovations.com. Uh, but also uh we have Facebook page and Instagram. I think that's where we're at most of the time.
SPEAKER_02Well, Ruby, I really appreciate you being on the show today, and we do wish you and your business the best. Thank you so much, Sophia.
SPEAKER_01Thank you.
