What makes Lindsay Whipperman with Keller Yoga a good neighbor?
We talk with Lindsay Whipperman about creating a yoga studio where people of all ages, abilities, and experience levels feel welcome. As the owner of Keller Yoga, Lindsay has spent the past decade building a community centered on movement, mindfulness, and personal growth rather than perfection.
One of the biggest misconceptions we discuss is the belief that you have to be flexible before trying yoga. Lindsay explains that flexibility is not a prerequisite—it’s something that develops over time through consistent practice. She shares how accessible teaching allows students to build strength, mobility, balance, and confidence at their own pace, regardless of where they begin.
We also explore what makes Keller Yoga unique, including its foundation in the Himalayan Institute tradition of Hatha yoga. Lindsay explains how classes incorporate movement, breathwork, and meditation to support overall well-being, helping students reduce stress while improving both physical and mental health.
The conversation also highlights the variety of offerings available at the studio, including prenatal yoga and yoga teacher training. Lindsay shares how teacher training isn’t only for aspiring instructors but also for students who want a deeper understanding of yoga and its philosophy to enrich their own personal practice.
We also talk about growing a local business through relationships instead of aggressive marketing. For more than 10 years, Keller Yoga has expanded largely through word of mouth and a welcoming community where students naturally invite friends and family to experience the studio for themselves.
If you’re curious about yoga, looking for a supportive wellness community, or wondering whether Hatha yoga is right for you, this conversation offers practical insight and encouragement to take the first step.

Welcome To Good Neighbor Podcast
SPEAKER_00This is the Good Neighbor Podcast, the place where local businesses and neighbors come together. Here's your host, Sophia Yvette.
SPEAKER_01Welcome to the Good Neighbor Podcast. Are you in native a yoga studio? Well, one would be closer than you think. Today I have the pleasure of introducing your good neighbor, Lindsay Whipperman with Keller Yoga. Lindsay, it's great to have you on today. Now we are excited to learn more about you and your business. So go ahead and tell our listeners just a little bit more about your company.
SPEAKER_02Sure.
What Keller Yoga Offers
SPEAKER_02Yeah. So Keller Yoga is a female-owned and operated boutique yoga studio in the North Fort Worth Keller area. We offer a wide range of classes that's really meant to make yoga accessible to everyone. We believe truly that everyone can benefit from yoga and the different practices that it offers. Our particular studio is rooted in the tradition of the Himalayan Institute and focuses on Hathi yoga. Hathi yoga is just the physical practices of yoga. So the things you think about when somebody says yoga, making those shapes with their body. We're also focused on kind of the holistic well-being of the individual through those physical practices, as well as breath techniques and meditation. We offer prenatal classes and also we're a training studio. So we regularly offer teacher trainings if anyone is ever interested in just understanding more about yoga or becoming a yoga teacher.
From Dancer To Studio Owner
SPEAKER_01And where was your passion for movement born?
SPEAKER_02Oh gosh, for movement. I was a dancer all through high school and college. I felt like one does. I moved into the corporate world and was sitting at a desk for a long time. I started looking for ways to move around again because you start to feel a little bit stiff and started doing yoga online, just some classes at home by myself. A friend gifted me a pass to Keller Yoga where I immediately fell in love with the studio and the community, started practicing regularly. A couple years after that, wanted to know more about yoga and understand some of the practices a little bit deeper. Took the training, started teaching regularly. Then the owner at the time, she was ready to step back from the day-to-day management. And I was ready to start teaching more. It was perfect timing. So I left my corporate role, took on a management role at the studio a couple years ago, and just recently purchased the studio from the previous owner and founder because they were looking to leave the area. So it's been a great journey.
SPEAKER_01Well, I love that. And for all of our listeners today who are curious about yoga, what is the most common misconception you face about your industry?
The Biggest Yoga Misconception
SPEAKER_02Yeah. One of the funniest things to me is when people say, I'm not flexible enough to do yoga or I don't know how to do yoga. Well, that's why you begin. Flexibility and strength and understanding what a warrior two posture really is comes with practice. So saying that you're not flexible enough is kind of like saying you're too dirty to take a shower.
How The Studio Grows
SPEAKER_01Now we're gonna go ahead and switch gears here for a second, Lindsay. Now we know that marketing is the heart of every business. So who is your target audience and how are you reaching them today?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, the way that we really reach people today is word of mouth. The studio has been open for 10 years, and honestly, we do very little marketing. People love to bring other people into a practice that they love. Right now, I do make sure that all of our trainings, events, and classes are posted on our social medias. So we get a lot of traffic from that as well. But it really is people bringing their friends in because they love the studio and they love the practice.
Life Outside The Studio
SPEAKER_01And what about outside of work? What do you like to do for fun, Lindsay?
SPEAKER_02Oh, I love to get outside. So anytime I can go hiking, get in a river, get in a lake, explore the mountains or the forest, I'm on it. My husband and I actually just got back a few weeks ago from a week in Colorado where we explored the Rocky Mountain National Park and the Arapahoe National Forest. We took our dogs with us too. It was great.
SPEAKER_01Very cool. What type of dogs do you have?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I've got a miniature Australian shepherd as well as a dachshund. So they're quite the cute little pair running around.
SPEAKER_01Very
Community As The Takeaway
SPEAKER_01cute. And Lindsay, if there was one grand takeaway you want our listeners to be left with today about your studio, what would it be?
SPEAKER_02The community is part of the practice. Some of the deepest friendships and relationships I have today, I found at the yoga studio. It's wonderful to be able to come to a place a few times a week, be around people that are focused on the same sense of wellness that you are and have that same mindset.
SPEAKER_01I love that. And final question for you where is the best place for our listeners to go to learn more about Keller Yoga?
How To Find Keller Yoga
SPEAKER_02Sure. The best place to find out about us is kelleryoga.com. Really simple. There you'll find things like our class schedule, our membership and pass options, all of the special events and trainings that we do, as well as all of the contact information. So you, my email address, my phone number, you can reach me through the website.
SPEAKER_01Well, Lindsay, I really appreciate you being on the show today. We wish you and your business the best moving forward.
SPEAKER_02Thank you. I really enjoyed
