Hello everyone, and welcome to Leadership N-Sight, where today we are going to talk about the. importance of a growth mindset. Buckle up. Because I need you to understand, I don't care if you are 19, I don't care if you are any age. It is so crucial to understand a growth mindset and know this before I even jump into this.

Everyone has their own challenges and struggles when it comes to their minds and brains. They think differently. If that's you—maybe you're neurodivergent, maybe you have other issues going on—listen. Get in where you fit in, and it doesn't matter as long as you understand that we still need to continue to grow.

How I grow may look slightly different from what you do for your growth. It's still important regardless. At the end of the day, we understand we all need this growth mindset, and yes, I'm speaking to the 75- and 80-year-olds, too. You still need a growth mindset.

We want you to live to a hundred and when you stop allowing your brain to grow and you stop giving it a lot of good stuff.  Okay. Need I say more? Okay.  I'm not even gonna say no more. I'm a just, I'm a, just leave it right there. So, welcome, welcome everybody to Leadership N-Sight. As you can see, I am super excited about this topic.

This topic is going to be a game changer for the rest of your life. It's helpful for your career growth and is definitely helpful if you are in leadership. Again, this is really about the importance of a growth mindset. Now, whether you're leading a team running your own business or maybe you are just aiming for that next promotion, your mindset will either fuel your success or it's going to hold you back.

And today we're exploring why it's important to have a growth mindset, especially for leadership and career progression. Now, I'm going to break this down into two key areas that will help you reflect on your mindset, and then you'll be able to walk away with something you can start.

Applying today, I want you to gather whatever you need, whether that's a pen and paper or your cell phone. Oh my gosh, I really just dated myself! Whether that's your cell phone or your iPad, I need you to have something on hand, so when you have your aha moment, you can jot it down.

Please do not forget to like and subscribe and share because you know somebody that is. In need of this information before I talk about the two key points for today. Last week we discussed the shifting landscape, a world in constant change. If you miss. That. Please make sure it's a short little video that you can go back and watch.

We talked about why it's important that you are shifting your mindset to embrace change and stay future ready, and the lead with agility again. Go back. Check that out. Now, back to today, the importance of the growth mindset. Our two points are going to be reframing challenges as opportunities and in be embracing continuous learning and adaptability.

Now, lemme tell you why this matters and.  Especially for those striving to level up in leadership. Leadership is not just about knowing the right answers. Yeah, it's great to have the right answers,  but that's not all that this is cracked up to be. It's not about being the smartest person in the room, although I know some of y'all are like, yes it is.

No, it's not.  It's not.  Hmm. Okay, stick with me and you will learn. It's about how we approach challenges, how we can bounce back even from failure and how to view the potential of. Yourself and of others. Far too often people hit this plateau in their career, not because they're maxed out on talent. It's because they believe they have gone as far as they can, and that's a danger of a fixed mindset.

It whispers things like,  I'm not good at this. Hmm.  I'll never be a great speaker, or some of you have said this to yourselves. I wasn't even born a leader. Now the truth is, and I know I've said this before, this is a controversial topic because some people believe leaders are born. Others believe that it can be learned.

I am in the generation and the mindset that leadership can be learned. Yes, I do think that there are people who just came out the womb and they were just a leader,  They had everybody, they had the cat follow him. Little baby, little baby had the cat follow him. Little baby had the, the dog follow him.

They, they, they were leading the pack. They were leading the pack. Yes. I, I do believe that you can be born, and this is genetics, but I do believe leadership can also be learned. Growth is always possible, but only. If you believe it is. Now, I say that and let me tell you who just popped up in my head. My husband.

My husband popped up in my head because he will tell you if you believe it. So that's what what you believe. You going to receive everything that you believe. So I need you to shift and I need you to receive that. Growth is possible. A growth mindset is a what turns. Obstacles into opportunities. It's what helps you to see feedback as a gift instead of criticism.

Okay?  It's a gift feedback and for some of you, I lost you for a quick second, so reel you back in 'cause you like, I don't like feedback. But I'm not gonna talk about feedback today,  but see it as a gift. In today's world where change is constant, leaders who adapt a growth mindset, they  thrive. And that's the area where we wanna be.

We don't just want to survive, you all. Surviving was for yesterday. We want to thrive. So let's break this down into our two important areas to help you think differently about your growth. Our first one is reframing challenges as opportunities. The first area is learning to reframe challenges not as barriers, but as opportunities to learn and grow. When you have a fixed mindset, challenges feel like threats.

You avoid tough conversations. You dodge projects, you hesitate to apply for a leadership role because you're afraid to fail. But a grow the mindset shifts that perspective. It says,  I might not know this yet, yet, right? I may not know this yet.  It's hard, but I'm capable of learning. You see that? It's hard.

You, you acknowledged the elephant in the room. It's hard. But I'm capable of learning. If I fail. I'll figure out what went wrong and I'll try it again. There's a lot of you out there are afraid to fail, and that can be traced back to many different sources, and so again, also recognize a growth mindset, understands that you.

Are willing to get help. And for some of you, whether that's therapy, whether that's counseling, whether you need to get a coach, do what you need to do to take control of your future. Think about it. The people you admire most likely. Didn't just get where they were because it was easy. They became great because they were able to face hard challenges head on.

They learned, they adjusted, they kept going. Listen, when we're talking about people who were athletic, our athletes, they have coaches. People, they have coaches, they don't just now, maybe there's a, there's a person or two out there that just did it themselves. Most people have coaches. Hint, hint, coaches.

Hint. Hint. Okay, that means you too, ma'am. That means you too, sir. Get out there, get a coach. I am one,  but they're others. Get a coach. in leadership. Every challenge is a training ground for your next level, whether it's learning to navigate office politics, managing conflict, or getting through some tough feedback when you embrace.

Challenges as part of your journey, you grow your skills. Dare I say, you actually become more confident. Ask yourself,  what challenge have I been avoiding because I  am free to fail. Ask yourself that seriously. So what challenges are you avoiding because of fear of failure?  That could be your next opportunity to grow.

. Let's move to our next point, which is embracing continuous learning and adaptability.  Here's the truth,  what got you here  will not always  keep you there. You get it.  The skills, the knowledge, and even the mindset that help you to succeed at one level may not be.  Enough  to get you to your next level. You need to understand that I, I know that we think,  oh, we can just do the same exact thing that worked before. Surely it's gonna work now. Unfortunately, that's just not always the case, and I.

That's not a bad thing. It just means growth is necessary. Leaders with a growth mindset, understand they are always a work in progress. If I could probably have a dime for every time I have said I am a work in progress, listen, I'd be up  be in the trillionaires or something like that because  you should always be a work in progress.

We want you to live, and to me, having a growth mindset helps you to live.   It's always about being a work in progress. Listen.  Leaders with a growth mindset. They read, they like to take courses, they ask questions, they seek feedback, and then they surround themselves with people who push them to think bigger.

Yes. I want you all out there to start thinking bigger. And they also experiment. They're gonna try new strategies because they wanna test out things. They are not so much afraid to fail. They understand that testing new things can lead to greatness. And when something doesn't work, they don't take it personal.

Failure is not. It's not a personal thing that they take on. They learn to pivot. They learn to keep going. And in a world that's constantly shifting, industry change, technology evolves, company cultures transform. Being able to adapt is a superpower. Growth-minded leaders don't resist change. They look for ways.

To lead through it. So I want you to ask yourself something else.  Where do you need to level up? What is a one thing you can learn this month that will help you lead better, that will help you to go to the next level? What's that one thing?  Make sure you write that down. Don't just listen to this and say, this is great information, and then don't act.

Okay, you're gonna need to actually write it down, voice memo it. If you don't like writing voice, memo it. But this is an active activity that you really actually have to engage and involve yourself in.  Don't forget to like and subscribe. I'm getting ready to wrap us all up and again, share this with someone because there is someone out there that you know needs this information.

I. Now, today we talked about the importance of a growth mindset in leadership. Why? Because your mindset will shape your actions, your actions shape your success. Notice I said actions, which is why I just said make sure that you. Answer these questions because your mindset shapes your actions. Your actions shape your success.

Now, we explored two areas, reframing challenges as opportunities for learning instead of avoiding them. And then we talked about committing to continuous learning and adaptability because a leadership and growth don't stop you all. They continue to evolve. The truth is the people who thrive in leadership aren't the ones who know it all.
