Welcome everyone. Welcome to Leadership N-Sight again today it's all about why emotionally intelligent leaders are winning and how you can win too, whether you're in your mid-career, beginning your career, and you're rising, managing your first team, or you're eyeing the very next level, this conversation is for you.

Leadership today isn't just about titles or task. It's about connection. It's about empathy and influence. Do not let the word empathy scare you away. No matter if the world is telling you to lean away from empathy. I am telling you to lean in because it will become your superpower emotional intelligence.

EQ is a what sets good leaders apart from great leaders. In fact, EQ is becoming one of the most critical success factors in leadership across every industry. Do not forget to like and subscribe and share. If you know someone is in need of this information, please do not keep it to yourself. Share, this is really about building others up and isn't that what leadership is about?

Let's do a quick recap. Last week, it was about essential soft skills to become a new supervisor superstar. Overnight. We spoke about mastering emotional intelligence and empathy, and we talked about communication and relationship building skills, which is definitely important for that.

First time supervisor, if you missed it, please go back and check that video out.

But today we are diving more into why emotional intelligence is a winning, how it makes people want to follow you, and what it actually can do for your leadership.  Going to walk away understanding what EQ can do for you and how to start activating it in your leadership journey. , our two points for today, emotional intelligence helps you to lead yourself first, and emotional intelligence helps you to build deep, loyal relationships. Do not think that you can do this leadership journey and not build relationships. You can do it. You're just not gonna do it well.

And so it's important to make sure that you continue to build these relationships. And why this is important, I want you to imagine two leaders walk into a room. One is a brilliant, a problem solver, great on paper, but disconnected from their team the other.  Maybe they are not the loudest or the flashiest, but they know how to listen.

They know how to read the room, and they know how to inspire people just by being present,  that second leader has high emotional intelligence, and in today's work culture, that's the leader people choose to follow, and we are living and working in constant change. It's a constant shifting world. More change, more stress, more  need for meaningful human connection than ever before.

People are getting burnt out. People are extremely distracted and craving authentic leadership,  being emotionally intelligent doesn't just make you more nice or likable.

It makes you effective. And that matters in leadership because people do not leave their jobs. They leave managers, they leave sucky supervisors for granted.  Some of us will. Make sure our teams leave us because we want to inspire them to go to new heights. And that's what you should want. You shouldn't just want your team to just leave you because you suck.

But some of you out there suck and that's just the truth. But you don't have to stay in your suck land. Okay. You don't.

People don't leave jobs. They leave bad managers and they stay where they feel seen and they feel valued and understood. Emotional intelligence builds trust. It reduces conflict. It makes collaboration feel safe, and when people trust you, they bring their best selves to work.

Leaders who lead with emotional intelligence are winning, not just performance, but in people.

Now let's break this down into our two big areas that explain what emotional intelligence actually contributes, what emotionally intelligence actually contributes to your leadership and why it makes people want to work for you. And first, emotional intelligence helps you lead yourself first, and that's really what it's about.

Before you can lead others well, you have to lead you first, and that's where it begins. It's the core Emotional intelligence includes self-awareness, self-regulation. That means knowing your own triggers, managing your emotions in high pressure situations, and being intentional in how you respond. Not just reacting.

Have you ever had a boss who would snap under stress and shut down when things were uncomfortable?  Now, compare that with a leader who stays calm, who asks the right questions and models, resilience. Which one would you rather follow?  When you manage your emotions, you don't just protect your own peace,

you create psychological safety for others. You teach your team how to handle challenges with grace and they will start to mirror your energy. And bonus  teams are watching how you handle things. Your example becomes their permission slip. Did you hear me? Your example, ma'am? Becomes their permission slip.

If you model confidence and composure, they will follow that lead. Emotionally Intelligent leaders know themselves. They check in with themselves and they grow themselves, and that is the foundation of real leadership influence.

Now our second point, emotional intelligence helps you to build deep, loyal relationship. Now let's talk about others. Because  EQ doesn't stop at self-awareness. It extends into empathy, social skills, and the ability to truly connect with people.

Leaders with high emotional intelligence know how to listen without judgment.  Did you hear that? Listen, without judgment sense what's not being said?  Celebrate people's strengths. They're not jealous. Do you hear me? They're not jealous and respond to challenges with compassion and clarity.  This kind of leader doesn't just manage people.

They're able to inspire them. When your team feels emotionally supported, they perform better. They stay longer. They come to you with ideas instead of hiding mistakes, they believe you have their back and in return they go above and beyond. People want to follow leaders who get it, who understand leaders, who see them not just as employees, but as a whole person.

A person that has a family, a person that may have aging parents, a person that may have a. Aunt that just went into hospice care, a person that maybe they had a car accident and they sent some flowers, they were actually genuinely  concerned for their wellbeing. People want to follow leaders who get it, leaders who see them not again, and I know I'm saying it again, y'all leaders who see them not just as employees, but as a whole person.

This is where retention lives. This is where morale grows. This is where innovation happens, and in a world where the best talent has options, your emotional intelligence can be a game changer that makes you the leader everyone wants to work with. Okay? Do not forget to like and subscribe. Share this with someone because you know someone that has need of this information.

Please share it. Do not keep it to yourself. Leaders share. Now let's go ahead and wrap us up. Today we explored why emotionally intelligent leaders are winning and. Why it's one of the most powerful tools in your leadership toolkit, we explain.

Emotional intelligence helps you to lead yourself first by managing your own emotions and setting the tone. It also helps you to build strong, loyal relationships that foster trust, loyalty, and high performance. Now remember, leadership isn't about being perfect.

It's about being aware, real and human. And you know what the good news is? Emotional intelligence is a skill. It's not a personality trait.
