Hi, Performers Achievers. Welcome to Performers and Achievers Daily with me, Raj Gavrla. In today's episode, we talk about Josh Kerr. Josh Kerr, do you know the name? He's a Scottish middle distance runner, and he ran a mile in three minutes forty two seconds. And this is a twenty-seven-year-old record. It's something worth mentioning. Seeing that Roger Bannister broke the four-minute mile. Whatever year he broke it. However, this record has been standing for twenty-seven years. And yes, it's astonishing that he broke the record. What's to keep in mind though is that regardless of what the record is, people run races. They run the mile, they run the eight hundred, they run the four hundred, they run five Ks, ten Ks, half marathon, the marathon. They participate in different things, whatever it may be. Whatever it is. And so just because a record wasn't set doesn't mean that that's not an initiative that's beneficial, that's satisfying, that's rewarding, that's an achievement, that's an accomplishment. So each time out, your point of view and your perspective, you should see the positives from whatever initiative or endeavor you're pursuing. What are those? And you should also see where there's areas that with the right skills that you can improve. So that's also there. And so in the show notes, I'll put together or I'll put in what uh the race highlights were. And one of them that stood out to me was Kerr reported that he temporarily lost his hearing and went completely deaf in the final hundred and ten meters of the intense race. And so that is something that has occurred. Josh Kerr. Now, I'm not saying that you're supposed to go out there and make records and break records. However, you do go out there and you go about with your goals, and as you pursue your goals, then whatever the outcomes are, you're you're proud of them. Because there's so many factors that could be involved, so many. Not everyone's playing with the same level, and that's reality, or with the same situation, or with this with the same uh occurrences that are occurring. Now, of course, as a mental performance coach, that's one of the things that I help them with. And that's uh something to keep in mind is that with the right approach uh you too can achieve, progress, accomplish, succeed and improve. It's just a matter of you being proud of yourself. Because that's what you control. You can control that part, you necessarily can't control the outcome. Josh Kerr couldn't control the outcome of setting a record. However, he was able to influence it just by his routines and habits of excellence, his coaching, his training, his mental approach, all of those factors. And what the outcomes are, or what the outcomes are. That's what I have for you today. If you like my podcast, like it.
