Hi, Performers and Achievers. Welcome to Performers and Achievers Daily with me, Raj Kaprulla. In today's episode, it's about discomfort. I've heard a lot of people say, or when they talk about discomfort, discomfort means that progression's occurring, or to don't let it stop you, or to embrace the discomfort. And here's the way that I simplify discomfort: if there is discomfort, you make an adjustment. I'll say it again. If there is discomfort, you make an adjustment. One way is by prioritization. Prioritization is a mental adjustment. So a work example is you have a schedule for your day, and for whatever reason, the prioritization needs to be moved around. You make that adjustment, and now there's not discomfort. Another example is in your self-talk. Maybe there's discomfort, and your self-talk might be work harder. Or it might be or it might be slow down. If there is discomfort, you make an adjustment, is by making a physical adjustment. This morning I was in yoga class. I take a yin yoga class. The poses are held for three, four minutes. In one of the poses, I had discomfort. And another one I had discomfort and some pain. I didn't like either one of them. And so I made an adjustment. The adjustment to make was a physical adjustment. I moved my left foot further up. And that physical adjustment took the discomfort away. Another example. Steps tables. You've probably seen them in the gym. There was a small one, mid-sized one, and then the large one. So I got my weighted ball, put one foot on the mid-sized one, lifted up with my one foot, tried to hold it for five seconds and I couldn't. I went back down with my right foot and not touching the top of the table. And so I made a physical adjustment. If there is discomfort, you make an adjustment. The physical adjustment I made is I went to the smaller table. And I put my left foot up. It looks like a table. I put my left foot on it, held the weighted ball, lifted myself up, stood for five seconds with my right foot not touching. Went back down, touched the floor with my right foot, and did eight in a row. Then I did the same thing on my right foot. Put my right foot up onto the smaller table. Had the weighted ball in my hands. Lift myself up by stepping on the table. Hold it for five seconds without my right foot touch, left foot touching the table, then come down to the ground. And did eight in a row. Keep in mind the adjustment could be in prioritization, which is a mental adjustment. It could be in your self-talk, which is a mental adjustment. Or it could be a physical adjustment. If you like my podcast, like it.
