Hi performers and achievers. Welcome to Performers and Achievers Daily with me, Roger Gabrulla. In today's episode, we talk about decision fatigue. Yes, there is decision fatigue. It's similar to cognitive overload. And it's just simply that you become tired or worn out making too many decisions. So where are some ways to automate decisions? Well, one way that we know to automate decisions is what do we do daily? We eat. And hopefully we eat nutritiously. So one way to automate that is either through a meal prep service, or just by scheduling a specific day of the week to where you go to the grocery store and buy what you need for the week that's healthy and nutritious instead of trying to go every day to the grocery store. So you're in the grocery store once a week. That's what I do. I also do my meal prep. However, my meal prep is every other week, and basically they're just meals for lunch, and then for two days, sometimes three, I have another meal prep, and that's done weekly. And the reason that I do this is because I like the variety and the nutrition. So that's very important. The other way is to just stay hydrated. When you're hydrated, your brain, your mind, your body just function well. And being a little dehydrated, which quite a few people are, does decrease your capabilities. The other way is time management. I use block scheduling, which is basically I take the time that I have during the day, and I block it to start with my family, then with my AM routine, my work routine, my exercise routine, and then I end it with my family and recovery routine. So what I mean by blocks is that I take chunks of blocks. So during my work block, I may have scheduled in their coaching session with my client, Chris. Or I might have recorded your podcast. So those are examples. Then, of course, during my exercise block, I know before I go to exercise or play sports, I know exactly what it is that I'm looking to accomplish there in each one. The other one, and you've heard me talk about this, is my success checklist, which is uh something that uh was learned from Marshall Goldsmith. So I have a success checklist that I go through daily, and I put all this success checklist just written on a piece of paper, nothing fancy. However, for my time, I put it in my calendar, and then some people they like to schedule their day hourly, so there's 168 hours in a week, and they just want to schedule hourly. I use block scheduling, however, if you like to work that way, you can work that way. Also, in block scheduling, I also have specific days that I know I'm doing a specific activity, whatever that may be. So one example is that I know that specific clients, I meet with them on specific days of the week. So I make those days available in my block schedule. I know that on Friday afternoon I eat lunch out at a restaurant So I know that's that will occur. So that's important, your time. And then the other way to help you with decision fatigue, is what can you control? Controllables, and then what can you not control? And I know sometimes, especially depending upon what kind of work you do, you can only control what's controllable once it gets to the person that's supposed it's supposed to get to, then the best that you can do is either follow up or have pre-decided that you all would reconnect to discuss whatever it is that you were planning on discussing and not play a bunch of scenarios in your mind, this is your fatigue. So control the controllables And the other way to way to uh handle decision fatigue is just simply with your communication skills. Simply with your communication skills. This includes your verbal written, your body language, eye contact, tone of voice, your feelings, your emotions, your whatever strategy or tactics you're using. And so by using communication skills, decision fatigue becomes a lot, lot less. So these are ways to limit decision fatigue or at least keep it away, and then the other one would be your routines and habits of excellence, and each one of these, obviously, when I coach my customers, we go into it and I make it specific to their situation to them. So that's what I have for you today. If you like my podcast, like it.
